I second contacting MSKCC and getting an opinion from them. You would be shocked at how many stories I've heard of folks going from their local treatment center to a cutting-edge pioneer center like MSKCC and changing their diagnosis dramatically.

Do it yesterday, time is, as always, of the essence.

Totally agree with this. I'm still rather convinced that, had my mother had her second surgeon for her first surgery, she'd still be with us. The operation was botched, so they had to close everything up before having confidence of removing all of the tumor, and by the time they went in a second time, it was too late.

Finding the right doctor after the fact is something that will forever be hard to live with.

I actually have found a really good doctor at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (run by University of Washington). They're looking right now to see if my liver is operable. The tumor that was in my colon has been removed (along with some colon too), so I'm good there now. And a petscan confirmed the cancer is nowhere else for now.

Great news that mets are confined to liver only. My wife is similar. I suggest
Consulting with dr Kemeny at mskcc. Hai pump may be able to get you
To liver resection. Surgery is the gold standard.

MSKCC is possible the best place for liver cancer. I did a lot of research when my young cousin got cholangiocarcinoma, bile duct cancer - rare, very difficult to detect and relatively untreatable.

There are good doctors and centers, and then there are the best - the ones who create the cutting edge.

You should also check this guy out:

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/12/15/health/15surg.html?_r=4&th&emc=th&

I mention him because he might say it is operable, whereas someone else might say "no".

(and apologies for hijacking the thread)

Thread hijack is welcome, seriously. Right now you're dealing with a major ailment, and I (along with the rest of these fantastic GG folk) wish you the best!

Keep fighting the good fight, especially for those of us who have lost someone dear to cancer. I'm glad that there are so many knowledgeable peeps here, and I for one am happy to be a part of it, even if I have nothing hut well wishes to contribute.

Hey guys, so I was driving with my Just GG and Ithaka and my button came a bit loose so I screwed it back in. Turns out I screwed it in a bit too tight and it was then firing in my pocket, I'm guessing for about 5 minutes straight (luckily I just parked). The Ithaka was very hot, smelled the burning wicks and it leaked a bunch. The Just GG wasn't hot, nor was the battery. Should I be worried about the battery? It's an Orbtronics PD2900, dual coils ~.75ohm (probably higher.. older gunked coils) - I'm assuming it's ok, but just want to make sure.. any thoughts?

These batteries are expected to deliver continuous current. The only problem is that it goes under 2.8v you should have checked it before charging it. But since it charged to 4.17 I would assume it is still fine. Check if it is losing charge faster and charging taking too much time from now on. Then you would know it is to be thrown.

Thanks! I will keep an eye on it and check the voltage, thanks for the tip!

Here's to all my amazingly wonderful friends! I just picked up the box from FedEx and I am totally blown away!!

I can't say thank you enough for this. I opened the box and I swear I had a few tears run down my face!

You folks are more than generous and I hope someday to do for another what you've done for me!!
