Jon put pictures of his billboard on ecigforum.com last night along with some more comments:

Some may say this was a bad marketing Idea, Some may congratulate me on a job well done, Some may want to help change the world of smoking and some may just stay quiet and watch the face of smoking change forever.

As for me.... I have work to do.

Jon - Owner of The Safe Cig

Dude, I'm not a Lawyer, but I will help you any way I can. I told Jon that if he would just get rid of that F-ing billboard, I would leave him alone, but his arrogance knows no bounds. Since you are local, you can do a lot to steer business away from his mall kiosks. I am commenting about that jerk on every influential forum I can get on, trying to steer everyone else in the country away from his website. It is time for a boycott! Let's show that dude exactly who he is messing with.

I have a few curveballs I'm thinking of tossing this guy. I have a plan, but need to consult legal council before I proceed to know where my limits are going to be.

I think the claims on his website are in need of testing, since even after he was warned, he's insisting that nothing Hey Dude, if there is anything and I mean ANYTHING that I can do to assist, please let me know. It just so happens that "curveballs" are a hobby of mine! Seriously, I want in!!!!

I was thinking of maybe getting my little sister a debit card, and placing an online order...

Then posting some pics of my little 14 yr old sis holding her new SafeCig 8-o

I thought better of it, since I *really* need to do something that will only call him out, and not bring any sort of undue attention to other suppliers who are being not only responsible, but receptive to customer feedback.

I'm thinking some officially filed complaints over his website claims may be in order. If anyone knows any of the malls his kiosks are located in as well, that might prove a fun use of a weekend :p I'll round up a few friends and we'll just kind of meander about, showing off our real e-cigs and telling folks where to get them much cheaper. :D

question for those much brighter than I..

Am I being dense, or does that billboard say:
"Abolish E-smoking" with... yada yada

I was not aware that we wanted to abolish e-smoking... but maybe I am just reading it wrong...

Of course, if we DID want to abolish it, Jon is making a good start, IMHO.

LOL, that got me too. I had to go back and look at Trib's pics and see if I really missed that. For a second there I was beginning to think that our "Jon" might intentionally have another agenda altogether.

Then again, if I would have just kept reading the thread like a good boy I would have seen Cage's post explaining everything.

You should definitely pay this guy a visit. Flaming works even better in person than on the net. This Jon character is certainly playing with fire and will get burned, soon at the rate he's going. I have not liked him since the first posts I read here about some guy selling a supermini at the mall for exorbitant prices and not backing his product with any kind of real support. To me, he is actually an anti in disguise. He is on a mission to rid the world of the cigarette because his girlfriend had cancer - I have heard that zealot story in so many ways from so many antis I just can't count anymore. That billboard costs a pretty penny and I would be willing to make a cash wager that he writes it off as a "business/advertising expense" - part of what he refers to when trying to justify the extreme cost of his kits. He is taking advantaged of the illinformed, downtrodden addicts that don't see any other way out - the ones that are exactly where we were when we took up this new habit, he is just catching them off guard and without any way to research before making the purchase. I despise his tactics and methods with every fiber of my being. His victims have been here. I have seen their posts. There will be more of his victims here. He will hang himself with that extremely long rope of a billboard he has. Obama might not notice, but what do you think will happen when some government rookie or overlyzealous FDA agent notices that this device of questionable origin and intent is being mass marketed, using the beloved Obama as a scapegoat, claiming to do what all other NRTs have failed to do, and without FDA approval (lack of conspicuous disapproval does not imply approval, especially in the case of gov't agencies biding their time to exert control)? They will make an example of him, to show their power (and their arses). They will come down hard on him to frighten the rest of us into submission. Jon will get his without my help, it will be all his OWN doing. My advice to all is stock up, learn all you can, bend over, and hope we get a kiss afterward. Jon's billboard is not our undoing - it may be his. Our undoing is our paralysis and inertia in the face of mounting antinicotine sentiment and legislation in this world. We must, at some point, stand up to the antis of this world - or join them. That is my 2 cents. Rant over.
Now, back to that calm, peaceful, vapor-filled, blissful state called denial - a.k.a. "happy bunnyland".

Something just occurred to me. My "bro" Jon (shortbus to his friends) has made mention of the fact that he lurks here, reading our post often. Why do you think it is that he has not signed up and tried trotting out his noble motives and dead girlfriend with this crowd? If my mention of the girlfriend offends anyone, I'm sorry but I know in my gut its a load of bull. And he is a total P.O.S. for trying to use it..
Anyway, where are ya jon? I miss you.

No fair Wolf!!! Evertime I try to log in to Happy Bunny Land, I get a big fat ACCESS DENIED ! ! !

Sorry, MrWade, access to Happy Bunny Land only happens when you let go of critical thinking. At first, we find it accidentally, through exhaustion and resignation to the status quo. Eventually, we can turn it on and off at will. Critical thinking usually leaves me exasperated, frustrated, enraged, and powerless to effect change. I try to avoid it, but occasionally, a good thread will get me going and I must rant before I can return to my happy denial of all things political and scary.

Your best bet would be to try not channeling the Trogfella:evil:. He is permanently banned from Happy Bunny citizenry, he just thinks way too much and can't help but be honest about his opinions and thoughts.;) Don't get me wrong. I love him, just more so when I am in the critical thinking zone:pervy:.
