I built my own desktop and run Windows 7, Linux, and Mac OS X! Best of three worlds!

Oh man, the things I would do to be able to afford a Linux OS. I love Linux! Believe it or not from my appearance, I write a lot of code in my spare time (CSS, C++, html, and working on fluency in binary) and design web pages for my dad's clients (he's a business management consultant). Linux is beautiful for such things.

Not really. Some of the desk tops are less expensive than the Laptops.

For lower end desktops (such as the base level imac) it's not a horrible deal. Add anything on and you're paying out the nose though.

Honest to god, you can't even configure a machine that's close to my PC from apple, and the closest to it is $5-6K. Add in monitors and you're well over 8K.

It basically comes down to if you are gaming or not. If you game, you're doing yourself a disservice to game on a mac.

I own a macbook and love it, but will never even attempt to install a game on it.

Install ubuntu on a different partition on the machine you are on.

Linux doesn't need much HD space.

In total agreement.....We have had three Windose Laptops here in the last 4 years and I'm still on my Macbook and it does wonderfully still. So the cost of three laptops vs cost of one Macbook. The Mac cheaper!

I am all about Apple. Yes, they are expensive, totally agree. But, you get what you pay for. I was all PC till I got my MacBook Pro. Now I say once you go Mac you never go back. I have has nothing but great experiences with Apple and customer service. Just walk in and the fix or help you with anything. When I had Dell's I had to sit on hold with India and then get someone I could not even understand! No thanks.

I just got home....rough day...yes I did, I thought I PM'd you back...no I haven't moved and will be here awhile...Very humbling when the director of human resources at the company you just started working for pulls you into a conference room to inform you that even with full disclosure at the application and interview phases that you have felonies, that the ADP background check has confirmed those crimes and you are no longer eligible for employment. My heart is cracked because Dani (my wife) deserves better....
You snag one, bud? And hey did you ever get my PM concerning your address for the CC SS?

Macs run and store differently than PC's. They don't require as much memory and hard drive space. So, you wouldn't have to have the equal amounts as your PC and it would run the same or better. Hope that makes sense.
