As of this minute it's glossy....but via Provape's FB page:

We are going to switch over to a new Satin Black finish. This will replace the Black Chrome. In our mission to constantly improve the products we feel this change will create a longer lasting finish.
It has a smooth satin feel and look and the coating is a custom ceramic finish which is very durable, will not finger print and looks simply amazing.
Those who have orders in the queue and have already ordered the black chrome finish, you will still get the black chrome. We have just enough to complete those orders then we will be switching over to the new finish.
There is a little delay right now on new orders, but once the new finish is rolling through production we can drop the lead times on those.

Were we speaking about which VV to consider? Do not consider anything but A Provari. It's flawless.Put a Lava Tank on top and you're in vaping heaven. I have no idea why people don't skip to the chase and buy one.It's nothing to agonize over. It's consistent,safe and nicely balanced. There is nothing better on the market for vaping. Just fill the tank and charge the battery.I buy the satin ones. No Fingerprints and they are a little less expensive than the black or chrome.Pair it with a beautiful Lava Tank and you're stylin. People say they are expensive and I can understand that but if you were a cig smoker before a vaper consider how much you spent a week on analogs. I spent way over $160.00 a month on smoking. it must be a sign from the almighty above that they just cut out the black gloss and replaced with the satin. okay next question do i go ahead and get the 18650 extension or stick to the standard? (i have a pair of 18650 batteries already and more coming.) but don't have any of the standard ones.

Get the extension...well worth having in case you want the choice of the longer battery life...I have both and manily use the extension cap.

I've had my ProVari for over a year, and really love it.
I did, however, get myself a box mod for when I'm out and about. I just found the ProVari, with a Lava Tank, a little bit too tall to carry in my shirt pocket, and I'm not going to chance putting a ProVari with a Lava Tank in my pants!
I ordered mine with the extension, but seldom use it. The ProVari is already pretty tall, esp. with a tank on top. Add the extension, and now it's really tall!
Battery life with the 18500's are not bad at all. Get the AW's. Unless you leave the house at 7am, and don't return until about 10pm, you should be able to get through the entire day. Even if you can't, it's easier to simply carry around a spare 18500 then add the extension to the PV, and have to deal with the extra size!

I may just get shot for saying this but the Darwin is hands and fists above the provari. Just try putting a LR atty on it to figure out why. And before everyone goes all Provari on me I do own both and while the Darwin does have its own flaws, the provari is my backup to my Darwin. But to each their own.
My vote on the best VV mod is also the Provari. I just bought my 3rd one with a blue LED. I also have a destroyer that I really, really like. It ranks at the top of the list as far as wood VV's go.
If it didn't look like a tv remote I'd think about buying one.

Blue, I agree, All Provari's should have Lava tanks on them.
