Got my first lava tank from sale last week and just went to use it today. Had a terrible taste right off the bat. Is it the cartomizer. Which ones fit because none of my boges it they were a little too big. Put some liquid in carto and it seemed to taste good for a while then went right back to filler taste. Any advice would be great.

Maybe just try washing the tank in some dishsoap?? I haven't had that issue and I really like the cartos that come with the tank...might be worth a try...

I think I remember that jon has switched from boges to smoketec cartos. Dunno if he is still offering a choice between 2.0 anf 3.0 tho..
maybe you did like i did and accidentally hit the button before filling the carto

I read somewhere on the forums about a bad batch of smoketecs that went out. Something about them changing the filler material. Whatever the carto was that was included with my last tank is fine though. It does only measure 2.2 ohms when I asked for a 3.0 carto, but that's not an issue with me since I just turned down the voltage on my provari.
Thanks for the replies about the cleaning. I tried soap and water but it didn't really do much. My wife has some "hard as nails" clear coat I'll apply after trying the toothpaste method. I'll update so everyone with the same problem has something to go off of.
Dont do that.Clear coat may ruin the tank. It just sounds like burnt filler on the carto. Boges fit and work wonderfully. I doubt its coming from the tank. SOunds like you just hit a dry spot. Make sure to put two holes in the carto and condom fill it before putting it in the tank.
Its supposed to be a very tight fit with the boges. When the oring starts breaking in it will loosen up a bit.
I suspect two questions have been intermingled here, lol. The clear coat was suggested as a way to bring out the shine in an unpolished area of a tank, not as a cure for the carto issue.
Lol yes I was talking about applying the clear coat to the top of the tank because there is a bit of white from the machining process.

In that case clear coat away. I recomend buffing it a little bit with toothpaste first to bring the color out a little before clearcoating .Also i think in the pen making industry they use CA glue to polish this material.

I do that too and I have also never changed an o ring on any of my lavas..
and there may not be a better way to say that but I can think of lots of worse ways to say it
