I saw a vid here when i first joined of a guy filling his carto without a syringe. He took the rubber cap off the end, filled that wtih ejuice, and dipped the carto in slowly until it absorbed all the liquid. Was he using a specific type of carto? And if so, can I use that kind on my Joye 510? That looked a lot easier to me, then the syringe method.

That's the so-called condom fill method, which works on the older style filler cartos. The GenJoye and eGo cartos have filler also, but the design is different so I don't think filling from the mouthpiece end would work.

Can't they be filled from the battery thread end without a syringe though y'all? Thought I saw that somewheres for the eGo ones at least.

I really like using the Mega Cartomizers on my Ego. While they are a little tricky to fill, once you get the hang of it, its a snap. New, they hold 1.8 mL of juice. This is really great for me because it is so convenient at work and while driving. At home I drip, or use my KR808. I think that the flavor is "warmer" and richer when I use either the KR808 or Mega cartomizers and I prefer them most of the time. Taste in these things is so subjective. I have found that "trying everything" gives me the chance to find out what works best for me.

Thats the condom method. Will work w/ regl 510 cartos. Will not work with the mega or CE2.s

CE2's by default need a syringe. However they come with a syringe needle replacement that is not a needle just a tube. Some have been able to insert this adapter into the refill hole and then "drop" into it without a syringe.

Well- I have one Joye Cartomizer up to 11 refills. 1 DOA out of 15 (replaced by Cignot), two died in service (less than 6 refills). 12 currently still vaping.

I appreciate all of the comments. The only thing Im a bit paranoid about is seeing posts about the cartomizers not lasting as long as regular attys and carts? Being very short on cash lately, Id hate to get one and not have it work, or work as long as my current setup has. But, I do like the idea of having the larger capacity of juice when Im away from the house. Should I not worry too much about their life compared to the atomizers? The wife is already freaking out about what Ive spent so far, although much less than analogs would have been.

The ones I have are super easy to fill, no syringe. Just pop off the white cap and fill like you would a cart. No big deal. They last Much much longer between topping off than carts. For me, they provide less mess, less fuss and more consistant hits than the attys & carts. The flavor and vapor have been good for me too. Yes, they are said to not last as long as an atty, this will vary per person and remember that you get 5 cartos for the price of 1 atty. So that evens it out, pricewise. Then you also have 4 more back-ups when one goes down.
That being said, some people hate them. Other people love them. Only thing to do is try them and see what you think!

I've spent a ton on the cartomizers. I like the convenience of them, but they are just too expensive for my wallet. Here's how I'm making it work on a budget:

*drip tip for all day use (super easy and you don't have to fiddle with the cart filler etc.) $1.99 ea. TW long Nylon Drip tip for the 510 or DSE901

*cartomizers used sparingly (like just when I drive) $8 for a 5pack https://www.dietsmokes.com/categories/Xpress-510-Cartomizers-/
for the juice:
*a few empty squeeze bottles
*flavorless 54mg juice
*bottle of PG (to 'water' down the high mg juice)

all the above sold as a set here for $23 Unflavored e-Liquid 54mg (60ml) mixing kit - $22.99 : Zen Cart!, The Art of E-commerce

*my choice of flavor $8 Decadent Vapours 10ml Flavour Concentrates

It took me 6 months to get up the courage to mix my own juice, but I wish I'd done it from the start. It's as easy as mixing a gin and tonic with lime and it's going to save me a TON of money.

Hey thanks Rosa, that looks like a great way to start. I have been making notes on mixing myself, but this looks like a great starter kit. Ive got it bookmarked. Now the hard part, flavors, and deciding what to mix up. I have tried the ECOPure English Toffee, and really like it for when I want something different. Ive been mostly vaping the MLB 18mg from Cignot, so the sweetness of the ET is a nice switch at times. Thanks for the link to the kit!

Well.. I don't use just cartomizers- they usually get the most use when I'm out of the house. I use atomizers at home. Cartomizers do appear to me to me more expensive than atties. Some would argue that.

If you are asking whether you should go with the Joye eGo cartomizers or standard Joye 510 Cartomizer- I'm not sure I can answer except for my own preference.

I use both, but the 510's get most of the use. the eGo cartomizers are pretty heavy vapor producers and sometimes are a bit much for me.

once they are filled, they are easy to use, have about .9 ml capacity, are very consistent until dry, and they vape like a 510 atomizer (which is my preference).

Cozzicon - are you still experiencing .5-.7ml on a refill of these? I posted this on the main carto thread, but maybe you can help verify this for me as well? Based off weight after vaping a full carto, it seems like I am only able to get about half the intial capacity vaped after experiencing the dry taste. But you seem to be getting a consistent .7 or so back in on a refill? That .9ml you mentioned above is on the intial fill, correct?

I got my five pack of cartomizers today. Wow I just dont know how to make these work! I filled one using the condom method. Seemed to soak it up and work well, but i am having a terrible time with a LOT Of juice getting in my mouth EACH puff. What am I doing wrong? Tried second one same way with less juice thinking i overfilled. (dont have a syringe so I have to do it this way)

I love the e-cig when it works but i'm getting frustrated. :-(

And how dangerous is it to ingest a small amount? That first hit few drips got in my mouth, hope i didn't swallow any of it!

Was so excited to get my package today but that has turned to a lot of disappointment. Supplier AGAIN sent 11 mg USA mix instead of 18 (second time in a row) and i just can't get the cartomizers to work. Not much smoke, and lots of drippage! Terrible taste all over the mouthpiece. This can't be a normal experience or I doubt anyone would use cartomizers.

You got these from Cignot?

Regarding the juice.. I'm sure you will be fine. If you aren't... you won't get this message and it won't matter...

Yes. Better than .5 ml as measured by a syringe. Some take a lot on refill... others not so much. Try not to push the syringe in more than a couple of mm past the fill port. If you push the filler down you can ruine the carto.

I know that can happen, it's a bummer. There are a few ways you can handle it, here's what I do:

*fill them the night before so they're ready in the morning. This gives the juice a chance to soak in for a while. Or...
*right after you fill one hold it with your fingers covering both holes and shake it for a minute (I don't know if this does anything, but I always do it anyway), and blow the excess juice out into a napkin - this is a waste of juice IMO, so I try to remember to fill them the night before.

I'm new to ECF. I just want to say that I refill my authentic Joye 510 cartomizers (from Cignot) with the condom method, and it's quite easy. I don't know why so many say it can't be done. They must be talking about a different brand.

I push the threaded end into the half-filled rubber cap slowly until it's all absorbed. If I go too fast, it leaks out the sides, because these caps aren't as snug as others I've used. I'm going to apply a layer of tape around that end next time, to add some girth.

If the half filled condom goes in easily, I add a little more and do it again until I see a drop appear at the mouthpiece end, then put the caps back on both ends and let them sit overnight to soak up. A little excess will leak out if I overfill them that much, but I just wipe them dry with a tissue. I'll get better at measuring how much will fit, I'm sure, but my refills are lasting as long as the original cartomizer did, and I like the flavor of my refill juice better than the original, but there's nothing wrong with the original flavor of the Joye 510 filled cartomizers, IMO.

If you overfill, you'll hear gurgling with the first few drags, and may even get some juice in your mouth, but I try to draw those first few drags with the battery end pointing down, and draw easy, not like drinking a milkshake through a straw! You can also give the carto a little thermometer shake with the mouthpiece away from yourself, onto a paper towel, and any excess will get shaken out onto the towel. But that's a waste of juice. I'm going to try shaking with the threads down next time and maybe it will stay inside and get soaked up better.

Please help dispel this myth that Joye 510 cartomizers can't be refilled with the condom method. I almost went and bought a syringe, based on all the posts saying I needed one. Nope!

To all the veteran vapers here, thanks for your service!
