Ok, but does it vape nicely? I never have expected perfect temp accuracy out of my evics. Who knows what grade of Ni or Ti they used to set up the tcr values.

If it bothers you a lot that the temp doesn't read perfect and the res isn't accurate to the .xxx, I would suggest buying a tc mod with a tcr adjustment. It's going to cost you more than $45 US and won't have a 4800mah battery; probably won't look as sexy either... l:D

Heh I just have to live with it. Other than the inaccurate resistance readings it's pretty great!

It is, isn't it? Very smooth temp control with the correct settings for power and temp. The market for tc mods is growing fast. The developers are trying to keep up with our ever increasing demands for accuracy, not only regarding res but temp as well. It is no secret that .xxx res reading and adjustable tcr mods are making a big impact on numerical accuracy but neither are necessarily a requirement for a great tc vape. That said, if a person wanted to vape a very low tcr wire like stainless steel he/she would need both.

I'm still loving my evics with Ti builds in my Subtank Minis but I would like to try SS. Being able to easily dryburn coils would be nice.

I am not so sure than dry burning any coil is a good idea. Even at low power settings, that coil gets really hot, really fast. Remember that stainless steel is made from pretty much the same materials we are using already. 316 "surgical" SS is comprised of:

Iron 65-70%
Chromium 16-18%
Nickel 10-14%
Various trace metals (1-2%)

What is Kanthal A-1 made of?

Iron ~70%
chromium 20-23%
aluminum 5-6%
Various trace metals (<1%)

So the only difference between Kanthal and SS is that SS uses nickel in place of aluminum and Kanthal has a few percent more Chromium.

So, if you want to avoid nickel, then SS is not the way to go. I am not saying avoiding nickel is or isn't the way to go, but it is a heavy metal and a lot of people are allergic to it. I feel using a pure metal (nickel, titanium, tungsten perhaps in the future) sort of narrows the field to one possible harmful substance as opposed to 3-4. That's my logic and I'm sticking to it.

But, really, we have zero research into safe coiling materials at this point. We can extrapolate based on what we know from other industries, but as for our particular exposure profile, we have no idea.

We dont know the long term effects of any vaping wire or ejuice for that matter, true, but to minimize health risks I brush and wash my coils after dryburning to remove as many oxides as possible. In this way I reduce the chance of loose oxides on the wire surface from being easily carried away with the vapor and inhaled. Does that mean that the wire won't produce more toxins while vaping at normal vaping temps? Who knows, but at least I've done what I can to reduce it.

I'm really starting to get annoyed with the Evic. As a rule, I have to gradually increase my temp to maintain vape quality. Might be good as low as 420f at the start, but I'll need to increase to 450, then 480, 500, and finally 520 or more in order to get a good vape. No visible change in resistance. And now today I kept getting nasty dry hits with a titanium build. Not jumping into wattage mode or refining the resistance, just nasty dry hits in temp mode - and then it goes back to working properly!

Yes, I'm using a subtank mini with the rba deck, but that same tank works perfectly on my other tc mods. It's a shame that the VT is such a looker, otherwise I'd torture it to death.

I've had that happen a couple of times, it has always turned that the STmini was at fault. Loose rba deck, loose rba deck screws or loose rba pos pin. Once it was a juice contaminated 510 connector at the mod. Cleaning and tightening things up always restored things to proper operation. I'm not discounting the mod as the problem though. It can happen.

It's just that the same Subtank works without a hitch when I transfer it to one of my other tc mods, without tightening anything. And then we of course have the inexplicable dry hits in one moment, to fully ok in the next (it's been fine for some hours now, and I haven't touched anything in the tank innards). The Evic just doesn't behave the same way as my other mods.
