Sorry.. complete noob here.. i have the joyetech eVic VT and I'm using the Crown uwell. I am having a problem with the tank getting so hot that you can hardly touch it. What am I doing wrong? Again I'm a total noob and the place I got it from set it up for me. I have it on 60w it's on 5.58v and .52 ohms. I can no longer use the temp control? I took it back to the shop and they put a new coil in because they said it might have been a bad coil but it's still doing the same thing. I was using the meme one that came with it but got tired of it leaking. So while I'm out of town I found this shop and they put the crown on. I want to make sure it's gonna work and not keep getting this hot before I leave to go back home so if there is a problem I can return it or exchange it. I really liked the ability to use the temp control before but now I'm only able to use power control. Help please !

Take it back to where you purchased it. Make them show you how to make it work and replace it if necessary. That's their purpose. The atomizer getting hot is not unusual though, especially during heavy vaping.

Why are you vaping at such high watts/volts? I keep mine around 3.95v to 4.20v, with a 0.35ohm build.

You're using the Crown tank and coils. Those are SS and can fool mods that auto sense wires. Try a Kanthal based coil in wattage mode and you'll have better luck. Alternately, try a Ti or Ni200 coil for a TC vape.

I'll definitely try that. The shop now said I need to try the .15 coil ni. So maybe that will work as well?

So I've had my VT for awhile and it's been a great mod. I recently got the joyetech cubis tank which comes with some SS316L coils. The coil I'm using currently is a .5 (there is a 1.0 included but I haven't tried it in TC) and it vapes well in VW mode but I'd really like to try them in TC. From what I've gathered skimming through this thread is that you can run SS in Ti mode. However no matter what I do (power cycles, unscrewing the atty and firing it, etc) I cannot get it to stay in Ti mode. Now it seems the guys that are having luck running SS coils in Ti mode are using different grades of SS wire. Are the SS316 coils my problem or is there some other trick to get this thing to work?

Nah. The VT auto-senses wires and will not stay put in Ti if the wires hear/cool differently than the TCR says they should.

If you look back a few pages there are a few guys who have had SS coils staying locked in Ti mode.

@JeremyR and @cigatron both seem to have gotten it to work

Only 430ss will work in Ti mode because the tcr value is close to Ti. 304, 316 and 317 have too low of a tcr value to stay locked on the VT60 mod.

Note: Using 430ss in Ti mode requires a minus 250°f temp offset and a build res close to .60 ohms is required.

Ahh I had a feeling that was the case. Well that's good to now for when I want to throw an SS build into my dripper, thanks.

Wasn't it established long ago that those 5000 mah were a hoax as each cell only had 1500 mah (4500mah total)?

I wouldn't be surprised a mod beating another because mah rating is only a small part of the equation. Battery quality, discharge capability and even board efficiency play their roles too.

it was "stated" or "proven" by the battery gawds that in series the battery 'pac' actually
works out to like 5100 something (I don't know, just as I read it)

and I would think the VT would have a more sophisticated board than the istick 50 ? ?

jus sayin'

You can't beat physics. It ain't 5000mah.

Each individual cell has its own capacity. It's not plain 1500 mah. It can be 1487mah or even 1520mah but don't you think a manufacturer wouldn't label his lipo cells 1650mah if they would indeed support that capacity? We're talking about more than 10% here.

I tested the charge cycle on the VT more than once and never got 5000mah. Even if I had, measuring the charge doesn't proof anything. It's the discharge that counts. You can charge a battery with 2000mah and still only get 500mah out of it if the cell is shot.

Regarding board efficiency... Many sophisticated boards out there but it doesn't mean they're efficient.

I'm not saying an Istick is better or worse but I don't dismiss a claim just because I think the board is newer or the battery is bigger.

And finally, the VT has the batteries in parallel, not serial.

The dna 200 with a 950mah battery in it (serial) will beat my 2600mah mini hana any day.

Dna 200 with 950mah = 10.55Wh
Dna 40 with 2600mah = 9.6Wh

Seems obvious once you convert to watt/hour.
