But really it's about allowing a beginner to pick up coils that make batteries go boom. Keep them in the Kanthal 1 ohm range for a while first.
With regulated mods wattage and battery charge determine the amp draw, the resistance of the coil doesn't factor in. A 0.1 ohm coil at 40w will have the same amp draw as a 1 ohm coil at 40w (if the battery charge level is identical).

Ordered a vt from vapenw for $55. Threw in a standard STmini and some colored orings to get free shipping. Don't want anything to do with an ego one mega.

Don't know why I ordered it, I really don't need a tc mod or another STmini. Shinyitis I guess. I've already decided I won't like the vt. It's too heavy, too bulky and the tc won't work right even if the res is stable.:-x

There, I said it, now my expectations won't be so high! Can't wait to check it out.:banana:

My rba build was with 26 gauge, 10 wraps at just over 3mm. Comes in at .12 ohms, but on the evic ohms wanders just like with the occ heads with a resistance too low message when trying to fire. I left the pin alone.

Thanks for the specs, I'll definitely mimic the exact same and see what it does, when it arrives.

Curious what else it could be if its not the base contact, as there is not much to it (contact, insulation) and the likely-candidate to point finger was the floating-pin I thought..

I guess my expectations started low. I was looking for a device that would give me a consistent, repeatable vape that was satisfying. I expect a large degree of false precision, because that is the trend in all things today. That I cannot say for all devices that I am a 42.7 watt, 465 F vaper does not matter to me. If I get a new device/topper, I'll dial that in the way I like and go from there.

Does it make any difference, say, if you build a .2 ohms (may be .24) ?

Yes, someone? I'll be using my STmini rba for temp control and there is only so much room for coil length. About 7 spaced wraps is all that will fit comfortably. I was hoping to run thinner ga. Nickel or Ti wire and 2.75mm ID coil.

One reviewer that tested it out stated it seemed to have more issues below .15 , seems a lot of devices have a little bit of instability going super low ohms.

@mascarilhas

From D Jaquith on youtube channel :

"I've been testing the eVic VT quit a bit myself and few inconsistencies:

1. Neither Titanium nor Nickel ( Ni200 ) seem to lock-in when the resistance is <0.10 ohm even when manually locking the coil (s);
2. Actual vs Readout temperature seems to be inaccurate especially for Titanium and to some degree when the coil (s) are <0.15 ohm;
3. Changing coils even with a >5% difference doesn't always trigger a 'New Coil' message;
4. Changing coil (s) when 'New Coil' isn't presented often will provide drastically inaccurate actual temperatures."

thats the same inconsistencies i found on my unit

best regards

This took a bit to find and I posted it this way because you can't make a quote of a post with a quote, and get the quote in your quote. Lol

I haven't tested this but fyi.

I assume it is the 510 pin as well, but since that tank works well with the fixed pin of the invader mini, I left it alone and just use the sub tank mini on the evic, and all is well :p

I was able to get a 10 wrap spaced in both v1 sub tank rba and stm rba, on an id slightly larger then 3mm.... The trick is building it lower in the deck so it doesn't touch the top cap at the edges, and a little creative bending of the legs

This one is only an 8 wrap, but spaced farther then the 10... Did the legs the same way

Mine doesn't always trigger the new coil message, but it locks in at lower res. just fine... My current stm build is .12 ohm... Did a twisted kanthal/ni200 dual coil in an rba that was right at .05.... Both of those work correctly.... Just not the v1 sub tank :p

Have we determined "ideal" target resistances for the VT in both Ni200 and Ti modes? Has Joyetech shared any insight on the subject? I've seen the range that Joyetech specs. Is there a sweet spot? I know that Yihi and Evolv recommend different target resistances for their TC chipsets.

Don't know about an ideal range... But I've been shooting for .1 or above... Mainly because that's the lowest the invader will fire :p

I've found .14 - .16 to be absolutely stellar. I've tried from .08 through .2 and .14 - .16 seems to be where this mod loves to be for nickel. The vape is phenomenal.
