My eVic doesn't automatically ask the new coil/same coil menu question, even when switching between the included Ni and Ti coil heads. It took me several minutes of switching tanks, powering off, menu fiddling, etc., to finally get the option to come up. I'm guessing my coil was pretty cool by that time.

My had the same problem i just send it back today ! I also noticed another problem with mine , i made a 0.16ohm NI coil in my rda , asked for new coil (selected yes) all OK resisttence in NI mode reads 0.16ohm , Coil temp 21ºc (clik only 1x or 2x time in fire buton to see temp) and with only 220ºc excelent vapor production and flavour , after 1 hour I pik up the Box again and the resistence now reads 0.13ohm in Ni mode and the coil temp wont go under 70º/80º (same happen with the Ego One coils) the box start to read wrong coil temp and resistence and start to fire at around 80ºc so I need to select way more temperature to produce the same vapor production and flavour as before . The only way to work good again its to try to reset the coil (new coil) and thats a pain in the ... because my Box doesn't automatically ask the new coil/same coil menu when switching between the included Ni and Ti coil heads or even wuen switching to a RDA / RBA with Ni coil (need several attempts ) !

I think its a problem with the chip "program" and the shop will replace it , i just hope its not a problem with the Joytech Chip.

best regards

Are you unlocking the resistance before changing atty? It's a necessary step. Also, it is quite common for TP devices to adjust the resistance over time. If you don't change the wattage, and the resistance changes, of course you're going to have to adjust the temperature to get same temp or you have to adjust the wattage to make sure it can reach that temp. If you are locked in at one resistance, and resistance changes, but it still fires at the locked in resistance, you may need more or less wattage to keep the temp setting the same.

Has anybody hooked up their vt to the computer and see if something happens? Is it detected by Windows? Kinda hard to believe that all my previous evics had Windows programs to read and write data to the mod and not the VT?

yes i unloked , turn off the mod ,turn on mode , nothing ... (only after several atempts changing between few RBAs/RDAs with Ni i finally managed to work )

Why does the Yihi TP work properly and the eVic TP ONLY goes down?

I can't get a decent hit off the eVic unless I jack up the TP to 520-530, and it still shuts itself down within 1-2 seconds. (40...29..18..9..8 watts) It only goes down unless I make an exaggerated hard draw.

There is only one way I've found to make a hit last a few seconds: Turn down the power, and/or increase the TC limit. But then you have defeated the entire purpose of TC... plus, who wants to vape .2 ohms @ 30W?

The eVic reads the real time temperature wayyyy too high resulting in the TC kicking in too early.
Thats how my evic works too , i send it to replace !
My friend also bought a EVIC VT and it work ok , and it will not go Temp Prot after 2 seconds and wattage down to 5w (like mine did) , also he just needs around 450F to get very good vapor production and flavour (i need around 550F with same Ego tank to get same amount of vapor)

Also sometimes my evic stop reads correctly the ambient coil temp (minim temp it reads is around 70ºc/80c) unless i try to "hard reset it" and set new coil again but like i said before after a few hours it stops read the correct ambient temp again .....

I just just hope it was a problem with my unit and not joytech chip "problem"

EDIT: its just me or seams like this "problems" are only with the Black units ?

best regards

Nops it only accepts the charging status, i don't think that the data wires are connected to this board. As soon as i loose the love for this device i will take out the screws and see what's inside.... There is a vid (in German) somewhere, maybe i can see something there.....

That's a shame and almost unbelievable. Does this mean it's the first evic without firmware upgrade capabilities? I can't believe that. There must be some key combo to activate a link unless there are only two wires going to the USB... :(

Dont know about the charred Ni but that, my friend, was the taste of burning insulator grommet, probably due to a hot leg. Been there once, and thats the reason I dont rebuild these heads any more!! The worst vaping experience i have ever had and I dont want to repeat it! Incdentally, mine happened with a regular kanthal build but I am absolutely sure that is what happened to your Ni version.

ps. It goes without saying that you should bin that particular build!

That could very well be. I dont use the Subtank Mini very much anymore anyway. My Goblins and Cthulhus have me spoiled on dual coil setups now.

I just got my titanium wire in the mail. Whipped up a couple Ti coils on a Cthulhu and vaping in temp mode. This is F'ing incredible!

Well i found the vid: (was already in this thread, NO credits for me) but took a screen shot from the USB port at min 27:33. It just shows 2 pins attached to the board.... if that is for real there is NO way to update unless we "change " some wiring.

beco

P.S: for stupid reason it saved as a pdf file and was unable to upload it here.

Well I checked the video but couldn't see the number of tracks going from the micro USB.

Good to know you can replace the lipo with a couple of 18650. Not that someone would want to but good to know.

One thing though.. That unit was a pre-sale one or something because I can't see the serial number on top like mine has.

mine have the same problem also that don't ask new coil or not, some it did but just 1 or 2 sec the msg gone before i can turn the button. should ask for change?

It won't ask if new coil unless it's more than 5% change in coil resistance. So, if replacing it with a coil that's of same resistance or very close, it won't ask.
