TThis is useful when I do something like filling a tank that I have been actively vaping. If I have the atomizer locked, I am able to avoid starting a new refinement process with a warm coil and in-theory, I should enjoy the same experience I had before draining the tank.
I believe the same thing is true even if you do not have the lock on, if you toggle left at the "same coil left" question on reinstalling the topper.

This is a gigantic point of confusion. The Evic VT does not have a "Resistance Lock." The Evic VT does have an "Atomizer Lock." Many of us are confused because of cross-device differences which we are mistakenly perceiving as similarities.

The Evic VT does not ever try to lock a resistance. Rather, it constantly refines the base resistance regardless of whether or not an atomizer has been locked.

I believe my understanding is correct. That said, I would prefer a mod with an actual resistance lock. The Evic VT simply does not lock resistances. Coil temperatures are calculated based on the difference between current measured resistance and the base reference resistance. We do not control the base reference resistance.
Get an SX Mini M. Regardless of what the VT is doin it still seems to be able to hold a set temp. Interesting though. The DNA 40 from my understanding adjusts wattage to maintain temp while the SX uses pwm.

I wasn't gonna comment on that but if it is 10 times better than my DNA 40 then I'll be thrilled! :)
I like the vape better, no doubt: The extra power makes for super fast heat-up. The TC doesn't seem better or worse than any other TC board, but the ease of use, battery longevity, size, and price makes this a hell of a bargain....well, when it works correctly.

To say it works "better" than my early DNA40 is laughable. I've had it for 7 months and it's worked absolutely flawlessly the entire time. It's outdated now, but still flawless.

My first DNA 40 was an absolute pile of poo, so were my second and third...
The VT has it's foibles but it's still far better than the early DNA's - luck of the draw I guess!

Ohm's reading changes when locked, jumps into power mode randomly with RDA's.

So one of your Evic's doesn't have jumpy ohms lock but the other one is fine?
Sounds like I may have a faulty VT, thinking the 510 could be part of the problem.

Oh, it's definitely going back. Even though I'm sure mine is just a defect of some sort, I'm going to wait until there's a for-sure firm ware update. I'm hoping they update the Ti coefficient, too.

What resistance/material coil were you using when it dropped .01? (My ADV tank does the same thing in my DNA40 after a week or so of gunk build up)
It was a standard ni200 30awg build @ .12 in lemo 2. Ambient temperature changes of 15+'C every day, sandy beach, lots of wind, sun, laying around in backpack,..thats why i said abuse :D

Hope your new one will be as good as it can be ;)

Yeah my yellow is solid but my white has various different problems, all the problems do seem to be related to the 510 or at least some kind of connection problem reading the atomizer.

I may have conveniently forgotten, but besides the screen scramble issue, (which was a huge deal) what other problems did the early boards have?
