Just wanted to say, this device is worth the money. After micro-coiling old PT/EVOD heads for a while, figured I might as well take the dive to something designed for such a function. The price point seemed a bit steep, but the Kayfun Lite Plus is worth every cent. Machining is impeccable, though my one gripe is the clear window. For such a fine device, the clear center body piece is fabricated from very cheap plastic in a very cheap fashion. There was flash all over this plastic body piece that needed to be removed. On the one hand, it's not a big deal to remove, but it's decidedly a cheap component to an otherwise perfect device. Said component is functionally important and desirable whereas the stainless brushed carefully machined centerpiece is essentially for looks. Bit of a mind boggler that the window isn't handled with more care or constructed from pyrex. Should be ready out of the box without one having to set a file to it considering the quality of every other component and the price point.
Also wish it came with a screw-driver. Every screw on this thing resides in well of varying size with varying head. While it's nice for differentiation purposes, it is kinda unwieldy. The etching could be used to better purpose for such differentiation and the wells/heads universalized. I don't have a deep tool box and have to rely on a mini-gerber for the air-control screw :/ while another screwdriver services all else. The air control is kinda a set and forget once you find what you like so it isn't much of an issue except for when breaking in the device or possibly different coil/wick setups.
As for coiling. You can use the setup Kayfun recommends in the manual. It's easy to setup and provides 'better than' flavor/vapor/th in respect to clearo's. I think at the price point, people want 'better than'. Simple google reveals many things, and this forum was a huge help. Figure 8 prepared around a needle for a consistent coil is dumb easy (possibly easier than what's in the Kayfun manual) and is worlds above 'better than'. I'm vaping figure 8 setup with 1mm ekowool. I tried 2mm ekowool and it always turned out a mess. I also tried my standard PT micro coil with cotton...and it didn't fair well in the Kayfun. I know people do this, but I couldn't get it to work on three separate tries, and my micro's are always tight and work nicely in PT's. Tried messing with the lift off and wicking to no avail. Stumped and will come back to it. Might have to purchase another KFL+/Russian or clone to play around with so I don't have to be without my favorite vapor.
Anyway, really great piece of gear. Even a dumby like me can get it purring like a dream after a couple tries. I would highly recommend to anyone looking to diving into a KFL style device, try some micro-coils on Kanger heads before taking the dive. I dunno if I would have figured this guy out as quickly without that experience despite not using any micro coils within. In some ways, I still think microcoiling a Kanger head is easier than a Kayfun. That's something I would look forward to in the next Kayfun update: equal or easier to build than a Kanger head rebuild.
