Leaked without a cotton flavor wick on top of the microcoil, so I added a little strand of cotton on top.. Hoping it works great!! Letting it soak for a few than I'm gonna fire it up, 2.0Ω with about 10 wraps of 30gauge Kanthal!!

Hey eric, did you say you used a flavor wick when using cotton with the protank/microcoil? Thanks bud

Yup I use cotton on top so it doesn't flood. Plus it gets more juice to the coil. :)

So the 1/16th inch drill bit thing is for rba's only, too small of a diameter for the Protank?? I thought the 1/16 diameter is part of what made it a "Microcoil", and I've been mentioning it here for the past couple pages, and nobody said it was too small for my Protank lol. Until now, after I built it
 :p

I use the 1/16th for my protank microcoils. Like I mentioned above I put cotton on top as well.

Nice, before I read that Eric I put a small strand on top of my 1/16in. microcoil and that seemed to stop the flood/leak! Still letting it soak up some juice, but about to fire it up in a minute!! So excited to try vaping on cotton for the 1st time, and these microcoils are amazing!! My builds seem to be getting better too, I'll post those pics up in a little bit

I only use the 1/16 drill bit for my protank and use cotton without a "flavor wick." I find it too be too small of a wick for my Igo-L and it doesn't keep up with my vaping. I double over some 1.5 ekowool and wrap the coil on the wick. It has been working flawless and is my go-to vape.

Here's the pics I promised.. You can tell the difference between my 1st and 2nd attempts, because I took the pics before I even used my 2nd, and you can also see my improvement in build quality!! After looking at the pics, I can see my 2nd build is actually 11 wraps of 30g Kanthal, I think my 1st MC is 10wraps.. My 2nd (new) microcoil is vaping a lott better than my 1st, using the 1/16th drill bit really helped, and the cotton wick is working great!! Staying steady @ 2.1Ω and vaping like a champ, you can tell it's working great because it's 3x louder than my stock coils were - so much coil vaping up all that good juice!!

.. So what do you guys think?? I'd like to get the coils a little closer together on my next build.. Thanks everyone!! :p

Looks good, the best part with cotton is that you can run the head under some water, slide the cotton out, pulse the coil to burn off the gunk and slide another cotton wick in. I typically do this after I run 2 tanks through it, keeps the juice tasting great. You can get the wraps closer if you just pulse the coil without cotton wick and take some tweezers and squeeze the coil together.

Yeah Eric, 30g should be good for you.. My 1st 2 microcoil builds were with 30g and the 1st was around 2.4Ω (not the best build quality, you can see from the pics on the last page), my 2nd MC is reading 2.1Ω on my eVic, and hitting like a train - 11 wraps of 30g

So with microcoils, more wraps equals lower resistance (Ω)?? I know the opposite is true for regular coils, but the coils touch on these which lowers the resistance, correct?
... Man my 2nd MC build is hitting like a freight train, it's a straight up fog machine!! It's burning through juice soo quick in my Protank, and vaporizing so much of the juice at once.. Can only take 1 small drag every few minutes, instead of chain vaping huge long drags, like I'm used too - this is what I was looking for!

The touching coils will result in lower resistance compared to the same amount or wraps not touching. As you fiddle with the microcoil you will notice that if you have a few wraps not touching and get them squished together the resistance will drop a little. I can wrap 30g 5/6 times without touching and get 2.0-2.5 ohms and get around the same resistance with 9/10 wraps in a micro.
