Damn. 22 long drags? Pretty damn good absorbent capability. Great idea on boiling the wick with menthol; I love menthol.

I took the mentholated water, bottled it, and am storing the hemp in the mentholated water. I took a stretch out and loaded it in the octopus about an hour ago. I love it :) Absolutely no break in time - no hemp taste at all.

It started a little flooded so 22 might be a bit of a stretch, but yea, the absorbency of the hemp is good to excellent. It's not cotton, but it's definitely better than silica.

It's lower maintenance than cotton for sure - much more durable. After a day of vaping, the wick is definitely getting darker though... the liquid on the base of the dripper is noticeably darker. I'm not sure how hemp would fare in a Genesis style rba... my baseline impression is that it might struggle with the carbon backing up into the tank. No idea though, Genesis RBAs aren't my gig.

Scientifically:

Hemp is reportedly about 2-3 times more absorbent than cotton.
Bamboo as a fabric is more absorbent than cotton or hemp and much softer.
Terry - This term is usually used to refer to the cotton "towelling' (like you would find towels made from). Cotton towelling ("terry") is quite absorbent, but less absorbent than hemp, and usually more bulky than hemp.

I know a lot of Korean modders prefer top feeders rather than bottom feeders. I love my bottom feeder RSM so I couldn't care less but I can totally see why people prefer tf as opposed to bf.

I purposely frayed the ends a bit... 3/4 wrap of 32 guage kanthal, 1.35ohms, vapeing @ the lowest setting on a fresh 1300mah Spinner. Nice vapor, good flavor, wick hold 65/35 juice well.

Interesting......and the hemp flavor comes through?

I came back to do my report and noticed this so decided to quote it as it's relevant

am new to RBAs, the coil i'm vaping now is about the 10th ever i have made, so my experiences are not those of someone who knows what they are doing. I own an AGA-T2 and an IGO-S

Not done hemp on the IGO-S yet, it needs the capacity of the cotton, for me, but i really struggled with mesh on the AGA so i decided to coil that. I'm not sure whether the centrepost got in the way or i wrapped my coils too tight but with 2x1mm hemp the wicking was pretty poor. So i added a china style flavour wick laid over the coil and wrapped around the other two wicks, dropping down through the fill hole. Looks a mess, but vapes like a champ. Only had it running a couple of days so can't comment on juice dirtying although it doesn't look like it is on mine, yes the top wicks are darker but there is nothing in the tank. Can still fill it through the fill hole with a pink needle.
seriously thirsty though, i reckon it's doubled my juice intake but i do feel much more satisfied off it and seem to vape a little less often.

running 13w on the vamo with a 1.6 ohm of 2 strand twisted 34ga kanthal (all i've got till my wire order arrives)

I too will never use silica again. Can't say i had any negative effects from it but i was never happy about using it just because of what it is, seeing all the fibres in the bags it came in and on the hands, seeing hairy silica wicks in people's atomisers.. not for me thank you very much. Hemp will do me nicely though i burned it and inhaled the smoke on purpose for years so anything from natural hemp really doesn't worry me.

Well that's how much I know about bf, didn't even realize there was more than one way to feed from the bottom. I just wanted something to try. Hell I once called a bf a bottom dripper. Anyway as you say if I like it, I will make something better. Have a couple DNA 20s I need to use on something.:)

Gah! don't get me started...I've been lurking the batt mods for a bit and seeing the DNA 20 chip mods being posted and I was thinki...stop it!...I need one of Gummi's interventions...or a good divorce lawyer

I've built a couple tf's, still use one regularly and love it...the only reason why most of my gear is bf is because you have to either drill the body of the device or the dt to accept the hose, which in it's self is not a super big deal but they tend to be a little less robust and pocket friendly (too many dangly bits). I'm also a big dripping fan, I just hate dripping...tf's are a great option

my wire got here, man 32ga is easier to work with than twisted 34... Just redone the V3 i did in the other thread with cotton, but this time with hemp, again 2x1mm long wicks to the bottom of the tank, loose(ish) wrapped, 1.8 ohm, currently only done a few hits on it on my twist @4v but working well, really well even with .2ml full vg in the tank

Thankyou, a thousand thankyous BJ43 and all involved in the development of the hemp wick technique. brilliant. And $10 for 430 feet of wick... HAAA

For any UK vapers wanting to use this hemp, i got mine from 100% hemp twine & Leather cord,Beads & body jewellery

I'm still building my collection of devices. I'm going to be buying at least 3 more atomisers of different types over the next few months, an IGO-F (if its testing goes well), a diver or smok terminator, and an A7 which i plan to at the very least do the a7oid mod to, so i'll pop back here periodically with updates on how my hemped stuff goes, reports on new stuff etc

:D

Two 2mm hemp thu 2 ohm 30g oval coil on A7 I just had to try BF even though I haven't drilled a side air hole yet on the A7.
Squonked it and it worked, wick and reservoir wet. Seems to work OK without the side air hole, just a little gurgle on the first draw to clear the bottom air hole.

Squonk tube mod in the Revolution bottle.

Exercising my squonk finger..

I think I'm long overdue to try some squonking.

What is the second air hole for?

To build on what BJ noted...where an RBA that employs center post air is used on a bf mod, the center post air hole has a double duty...air to the coil and juice to the wick. A7's tend to underline the pros/cons of this double duty exceptionally well...some have no problem with gurgle and back-leak, where as others (like myself) who are perpetual "over squonkers" find that sealing the base of the A7 (or any other center air RBA) to the mod with an o ring, essentially creating a closed juice system, and drilling a separate airhole (above the juice line) performs great...to each his/her own...

Does it draw air from somewhere else? Because the juice bottle is pretty much sealed off isn't it? Or is the syringe needle just a loose fit in the air hole?
