I totally agree, this is the big reason I switched from cotton to bamboo...I ran identical devices and coils, one with baton, one with cheese cloth and one with bamboo, all with the same juice (TPA juicey peach) as a life span test. The baton was the first to become unvapable, then the cheese cloth then waaay down the road, the Aunt Lydia's...I chalked it up to heat resistance/transfer. My theory (as BJ noted) is the cotton is pretty susceptible to heat transfer, the sugars in the core of the wick cook and clog further wicking, sure, the material of all 3 wicks in contact with the coil caramelized but it's still porous, as long as the inner wick can still pass juice you're good to go...just my (or more like BJ's) theory of course.
How is the hemp working out for you?
