I totally agree, this is the big reason I switched from cotton to bamboo...I ran identical devices and coils, one with baton, one with cheese cloth and one with bamboo, all with the same juice (TPA juicey peach) as a life span test. The baton was the first to become unvapable, then the cheese cloth then waaay down the road, the Aunt Lydia's...I chalked it up to heat resistance/transfer. My theory (as BJ noted) is the cotton is pretty susceptible to heat transfer, the sugars in the core of the wick cook and clog further wicking, sure, the material of all 3 wicks in contact with the coil caramelized but it's still porous, as long as the inner wick can still pass juice you're good to go...just my (or more like BJ's) theory of course.

How is the hemp working out for you?:toast:

I didn't even think about caramelization. Thanks for pointing that out. The 2 juices where I had a drop in vapor production are pretty sweet.

I just ordered the 2mm from lovepedal just to have around. Most of my friends have switched over to hemp as well. My stash of 1mm is almost out. Sharing is caring

I have some hemp from lovepedal that i just got recently, i read about people boiling and saying the flavor will go away after a few min of vapeing... but the flavor has yet to go away after several boils and a day or so of vaping... am i the only one? any idea to help get rid of it?
EvilGrym posted that he had luck rinsing the hemp in acetone on this thread: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...030-wick-materials-safe-vs-dangerous-465.html

I asked for clarification of the process on that thread, you might want to read it and see if you want to consider trying it.

I cleaned mine with dish soap after complaining of the same taste. However I've been using other devices and cant testify to that solving it but others have said it does.

P.S. >Stone< I'm not stalking you....I swear :p
LOL, I don't mind running into you in the forum at all, I'd say I'm in good company :toast:

I have built oval wicks with the 1mm 7S Lovepedal. I use small sewing needle stacked and taped. I then thread 3 of the 1mm 7S through. This went into my vapeonly BCC and Vivi nova with a drill out bottom nipple and bored out slits. I can't seem to get the amount of flavor I want from any other shaped coil or smaller amount of wicks. Also I tried 32awg 33awg and I seem to get the most vapor and flavor out of 30awg. I never used this wire until BJ mentioned it. I always like 33 with the cotton wicks i use to build.

This came in today and its not the 12S. I went back onto ebay and it says its the 3S. BIg ... bummer I was looking forward to trying it out. Stuff going in the trash

I PMed you and have informed Lovepedal that that is not good for us. It was my understanding that she had changed that 2mm for a new 12 strand she sent me to sample which I found was very good.

BJ do you have any pointers for using hemp on the vapeonly bcc? I have tried 1 main wick 2 feeder with not so great results. Flavor was muted. Not bad but not enough for an enjoyable vape. I have tried 2 wicks 1 feeder in oval and regular shape with slightly better results. I have tried 3 wicks with oval no feeder with the best results but flavor was still muted. The 1mm 7S seems a little bigger then 1mm. I have used 30awg in all these builds. My theory right now is that the feeder wicks cool down the coil too fast.

I am still running my vapeonly BCC as a compo, original silica with a 2mm hemp flavor wick. Haven't popped the original coil yet. I like the protank more. The vapeonly collects a lot of condensation under the mouthpiece, cold vaper and too free draw IMO.

I do like my protanks more. I just got my 3rd one today at my billiards shop with a lil vape shop in a closet. Maybe its time to give up on the BCC...

I have always been bothered by the amount of condensation in the BCC and how quickly it builds up from a fresh clean. I tried taking a top piece of a carto and shaved it down to fill in the space.

I tried taking the drip tip off and vaping it and there is a noticeable difference in flavor. Maybe I'll shave down original drip tip to it in there deeper. I don't wont to give up on the BCC just yet.

I am going to try 33awg tonight. I always get more vapor and flavor with 33awg when I was using cotton. I tried going back to silica but the juices tasted completely muted from what I was use to with cotton.

On my Vapeonly I use three 1mm wicks with no feeder wick. Basically I put two 1mm wicks through a ear of the needle I made with the 30g coil, put it through the prepared coil(beomes four wicks), cut the connected side of the wicks and free the needle, then take one wick out from the coil so it's not so tight. Working very well for me without juice traveling up to mouth. I used to just use all four wicks without taking one out and it gave me rope taste for a whole tank worth of vaping, but now I don't get that taste. My experience is that with only two hemp wicks inside coil I get flooding issue(gurgles and eventually juice in mouth) even when I had two more wicks sitting on top of coil, but that happens only rarely at the most with three or more wicks inside coil.

What do you use to wrap your premade coil. I prefer premade coils over free hand wrapping it. I also have tried 2 wicks and I get flooding right away. I also notice if I use 3 wicks and I don't spread the ends apart where the wicks meets the juice I get gurgling when I am down to 1ML of juice but its fine anything above the 1ml line. This only happens when I don't fluff up the wicks to create a seal. I will try your method RIGHT NOW
