So far I have only been vaping for a little over a month and wow has this placed helped. If it wasn't for ECF I'd still be on analogs. So far I have had "the nicstick" 510, madvapes version of the EGO and just ordered a Screwdriver MKII off of Totally Wicked.

So far the lower voltage of 510s and the ego have left something still to be desired, more of a hit. Now I do know they offer LR attys and cartos however I don't want to put up with the possibility of damaging the battery.
After learning about different wattage It made me go with the screwdriver. I was originally gonna buy a few kr808d1 xl batts with 2 ohm cartos but decided I wanted more battery and went along with the kit thats 25% off.
Hoping the screwdriver will hit my "sweet spot"

Awesome! Good call. :)

The problem with stock batteries (all of them - 510, Kr808, eGo, etc) is that their drainage rate isn't really built to handle LR's. Yes, it's safer with a higher mAh battery like an eGo or an XL Kr808... but it will shorten the life of your stock batteries no matter how high the mAh, and it can even kill them.

I learned that the hard way. I was running an LR on a 900mAh eGo battery, and a 650mAh eGo battery.

The 900mAh battery, which you would think would be less likely to fail, bit the dust after only a week of use. It now fires erratically. $22 battery, down the drain.

Check the C rating of the batteries you put in your Screwdriver. The amps(A) of a normal stock battery is something like 1A or 1.5A. That's not really good enough for high voltage or LR vaping.

2.5A or higher, is good enough.

The batteries that came with the kit are these.
Screwdriver MKII-Spare Battery.
and heres the kit
The Silver Screwdriver E-NIC-MKII + FREE 2 x 510 Atomizer Conversion kit
It doesn't give the rating. If they come and are not up to par can you reccomend a good site to buy protected batteries from?

Woops, I made a mistake! It's 2.5A (amp), not C. So numbers floating around in my head... Fixed in above post as well, so I don't mess people up.

Hmmm... That is interesting. Proprietary batteries in a mod? I doubt it. I bet it's got a name!

Well, I would contact them, and ask two things.

1. What is the C (current) rating of their batteries, or A (amps), if they know that, and

2. What is the model number.

mudboy I got replacement battery & charger from ARLO Electric Smoking Products Home Page. The SDMkll takes the same batterys as there 601 pipe and they have a much better charger as well. The one you will get with your SD kit will get hot while charging and you will need another one in case of failure. That is where I got my spares from. You will have to get some LR / 901 attys the kit dosen't come with any. You can use lock-tight on the screew for the button get that at any Lowes or Home Depot or automotive store. Good Luck Enjoy The Vape

Thank you. i didn't think of loc tite. (gotta make sure you use the right one or otherwise that button will never come out again lol. I will look into them batterys. I'm in the process of ordering 2 ohm cartos from madvapes since an adapter comes with the screwdriver to go to 510 threads.

Your charger will get hot to the touch there are lots of comments about that on TW site other then that its a good solid PV

I like 901's better then 510's but they both work. If you use cartos you will also need a 901 - 808 adapter also at least I did I'm a 901 /808 guy

I havent pressed submit yet on madvapes for the 2.0ohm cartos. Why do you like the 901s better? Alos is there a 2 ohm carto for the 901s?

Good choice on your mod. I have used and abused mine for almost a year. Solid PV. Good vapor. A word of advice. Keep an eye on the plastic film on the bottom of your battery(negative side). This part of the battery actually sits on the frame of the pv. If the plastic is torn away, the pv will activate as it is creating the ground need to complete the circuit. I've had several batteries that the plastic tore off of. I just placed a o ring in the bottom of the device, and still use those batteries with no problem. Good luck!!

\Mistress whats the benefit in knowing the amperage of the battery?

If you plan to run an LR atty, then it should be 2.5amps or higher, since it's drawing more power than a regular atty.

This is why stock batteries can fail, even if they have high mAh like an eGo, when you run LR's. They're being over-drawn for the amount of amperage they are designed to output at one time, which I believe is only 1 or 1.5 amps.

And, not all batteries used in mods are 2.5 amps or higher either. I know some of the 10440's aren't.

I've been reading about it on the ECF tutorial about batteries, since I managed to kill my eGo with an LR. Linkie:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ecf-library/129569-rechargeable-batteries.html

Lots of good info.
