Hi all, just started vaping yesterday and I'm praying this does the trick to break me of a 40+ year cig habit. I smoked this morning because my flavored juice was a bit too much for morning. Looking for an easy to take menthol with no artificial tobacco flavor (no tobacco flavor) which just tastes nice but not too sweet. I look forward to reading a lot here, and any suggestions would be great. Thanks!

Hello and welcome Puff2k and welcome to ECF. I'm sure others will chime in on your request about flavors. I am one of those that doesn't vap flavors. I use American Tobacco and Black Leaf Tobacco exclusively. Just a personal preference for me. Congrats on your success and keep reading. There is a wealth of knowledgeable people here so ask questions. Have a great day and vap on!

Welcome,

From what I understand, some people stop immediately on first vape, and some have a transition period of days, a week, or even months where their cig use fizzles out to nothing. I found it helped a lot not to be too tough on punishing myself mentally if I had a smoke - just enjoy the vape and let it fade naturally :)

All the best,
Mop

Great! Welcome to you!

It took me a bit to find what nic worked for me and at what time of day. Really, early on, I just focused on getting my nic and I looked to vape once an hour. Just went by urges. Just me.

I can vape any nic. With a high nic, I just vape less and with a low nic, the APV is glued to my mouth.

For first thing in the morning, I like a step-up nic. During the day, its a normal level and in the evening, I step-down because I am sitting and relaxing. Obviously, I have a "few" RTA/RDAs.

I really have trouble with tobacco juice. It just reminds me. I like my apple pie in the evening.

Hope helps

Thank you all for the warm welcome! I started with the Innokin MVP 20 and Kanger Protank 3 (? - I think). They work well, I am finding though that the vapor makes me cough a bit more than my home rolled cigs right after I take a hit. I'm hoping that will ease up. I've been feeling very excited that this could really work. Looking forward to learning a lot here. :)

Welcome to the ECF! I'm sure you'll find this place a wealth of knowledge for a new vaper.

Hmm.. "easy-to-take" menthol meaning what? I know of some great fruity-menthol e-liquids, but they might be too sweet for your tastes/might not be "easy to take". The one in particular I'd recommend is Thug Juice by MtBakerVapor (MBV). Very nice watermelon with a good menthol kick. I usually cut it with MBV Hawk Sauce because the menthol can be a bit harsh, especially in the mornings. My mix of the two usually ends up coming out to 30% Thug Juice/70%

Since you're just beginning though, it'd be worthwhile to grab some USP-grade Vegetable Glycerin/Propylene Glycol. This is the base of most e-liquids, and if you have these ingredients you can very easily cut or dilute your e-liquids to make them less intense. Additionally, you can use these bases + flavorings (which MBV sells -- also check out the DIY section of the forum, they point out some important stuff to buy/watch out for) to DIY your own flavors! A lot of people prefer this because it gives them more control over their flavorings/quantities/intensity, plus the whole "if you want something done right" mentality.

Anyway, I'm sure by the time I've finished writing this several people have chimed in.

Lowering nicotine level on e-juice will make your cough dissappear or you can have a e-juice with more VG(70/30 VG/PG) But this isn't really necessary i always have few coughs after first few hits, then it just dissapears :)

That's good to know! I definitely need some liquid with much lower nicotine. Mine are super high.

Thank you! That's a little beyond my mentality so far because I know so few liquids so far. But thanks for the suggestion.

In that case, go on a shopping spree! I remember the first time I realized the slew of flavors that exist out there.

It's pretty Willy Wonka-esque (a la "the shnozzberries taste like shnozzberries!") There's a lot of really tasty juice out there, and you might find something that you didn't expect to like. No pressure, just buy e-liquid! Do it. Do it.

Buy e-liquid.

And don't ever stop.

Lol! Good idea! :D

:)Welcome Puff2k. I'm a newbie to the forum also. I had a pack a day habit for over 35 years. Have been vaping since August, while smoking cigarettes. ugh!

Am happy to report as of last Wednesday, I haven't had a stinky cigarette. I vape when the nicotine urge comes on, and have been doing great. If I can do this then you can also. Good luck to you!

try using e juice by vapor shark menthol plain or menthol nurdz check out the web site at vapor shark

Vape Wild has some menthol flavors and the price is cheap enough to give it try, some of the more expensive brands i like are
Halo
Cuttwood
Cosmic Fog
Gemini
The Vaping Rabbit

I suggest the halo menthol sample pack to see which type you like. I find their juice has the best throat hit(feeling like you're smoking). I still can't figure out which one I like the best so I keep ording the sample pack.

Thanks all for the suggestions! I got flustered before I saw these and ordered a menthol from Mt Baker vapor and their peanut butter since I needed more cartomizers too. I will definitely look into the Halo.

Welcome to ECF, Puff2K. Lot's of good advice to which I'll add mine:

Don't be afraid to hit a vape shop that lets you try juice, but if you buy, don't be surprised if it doesn't quite taste like you remember. So start with small bottles until you can be sure it is what you really want.

Don't be afraid to experiment with flavors, nic level, PG/VG level. It will take some time, but increases the chances of finding what you really like. Having said that, don't be too quick to dump something quickly. Sometimes what doesn't go well today may suit you better tomorrow or next week.

And lastly, don't beat yourself up should you give in to a smoke. It's the ones you don't smoke that count. Enjoy your journey and finding a juice that you can easily choose over the analog.

Just my :2c::2c: (inflation) from a former 40+ year smoker. Good luck and vape on! :vapor:
