Welcome to ECF, Puff2K. Lot's of good advice to which I'll add mine:

Don't be afraid to hit a vape shop that lets you try juice, but if you buy, don't be surprised if it doesn't quite taste like you remember. So start with small bottles until you can be sure it is what you really want.

Don't be afraid to experiment with flavors, nic level, PG/VG level. It will take some time, but increases the chances of finding what you really like. Having said that, don't be too quick to dump something quickly. Sometimes what doesn't go well today may suit you better tomorrow or next week.

And lastly, don't beat yourself up should you give in to a smoke. It's the ones you don't smoke that count. Enjoy your journey and finding a juice that you can easily choose over the analog.

Just my :2c::2c: (inflation) from a former 40+ year smoker. Good luck and vape on! :vapor:

This is great advice, thank you. I am still smoking but I think it's because there's too much nicotine in the juice I have. I was vaping pretty happily last night but I got too much nicotine and had restless legs (and interesting dreams lol)! :)

One thing I'm wondering since it was an option in the juice I just bought is the PG/VG ratio.

It is my understanding, and I am sure others will correct me if I am wrong, the higher the PG the more throat hit or "harsher" your vape but typically gives more flavor. Higher VG gives more vapor. Results may vary depending on the flavor. If given a choice on PG/VG ratio, it may also help if they provide the option for flavor hits to add additional flavor if you so choose.

I am just now really getting into these variations myself since I have now found enough choices in favorite flavors. I had found my one ADV that beat all others and then the provider stopped making it, so restarted my search.

Thank you for explaining that! I will keep that in mind as I buy new flavors. I'm finding the ones I have somewhat harsh, but also 1000 times better than the drugstore cigarette shaped ecigs, so I'm very impressed with the flavors that are possible. Just need to find the best balances for me. :)

:)Welcome Puff2k. I'm a newbie to the forum also. I had a pack a day habit for over 35 years. Have been vaping since August, while smoking cigarettes. ugh!

Am happy to report as of last Wednesday, I haven't had a stinky cigarette. I vape when the nicotine urge comes on, and have been doing great. If I can do this then you can also. Good luck to you!

Greetings, SweetiePie. You're from Funky Town..LOL
Well get down! ;)
On behalf of all us trouble makers trying to be good, Welcome to ECF. :)
This is a great forum. A wonderful place to make friends and learn all about vaping.

Be sure to read the rules, the moderators here are very nice but strict
I'm sure you'll enjoy it here...

Regards,
Hazy:2cool:

PS. Break a leg and congratulations.
It will get easier to abstain from ciggies in a couple of weeks..
The more you vape the less attractive the cigarettes will seem and the more they'll stink.
I had a 4PAD habit for ages but soon it'll be two years smoke free

Welcome Puf and Sweetie!

I'll second the thought about lowering your nicotine level a little Puf. The higher the nic, the harsher the inhale has been my experience. I started with 18mg juice and got the buzz brain. Dropped down to 12 and discovered that the flavor of the liquid comes out more and I could vape more without buzzing.

With the PG vs VG consideration - some folks will have a sensitivity to PG and it may cause a cough. Others may feel an unpleasant 'coating' in the lungs with too much VG. What mix is the liquid you are currently using? For me, 50/50 seems to work best. I like a high VG juice - great vapor, very satisfying - but after a few hits I begin to feel a 'greasy' sensation in my chest. Don't like it much. Haven't tried a higher PG juice yet, but so far there has been no issues for me.

Go ahead and buy some 15ml bottles of juice that sound good. You won't like them all, although many juices improve in flavor after a nice 'steep.' If you cruise the forum you'll find lots of conversations on juices:

Best gourmet ejuice vendors has tons of great reviews/vendors to check out.

Premium without the outrageous price tag...ITC Vapes starts discussing one particular vendor but there's discussion of others in there as well. And for the budget savers:
Deals and Steals
There are many more but one can only follow so many without going bonkers!

A couple of links to juice vendors with good stuff:

Sleeping Dragon Vapor
Sweet-Vapes
and of course, Nicoticket

Hope you are able to find something you like. Anything to keep you happily vaping and off of the stinkies is good stuff. :vapor:

Thank you for the advice! I want a ton of different juices lol and I can't afford it right away (plus, I can't get USPS packages here so I can only order from places that ship via UPS). I'm dying to try some of the flavors I read about here from Nicoticket. Looking forward to it.

I tend to use the vape constantly so I got a low nicotine menthol yesterday and a nicotine free peanut butter but I think the peanut butter is meant only as an add-flavor to your own diy juice? Not sure. From Mt baker vapor. It's a 50/50 blend so I'm guessing I could at least try it as a stand alone flavor. I am loving the flavors!

Monday night I was so excited and I had a dream that I was finally off tobacco cigs and there was a celebration, lol! This is very exciting.

I'm a little disappointed with the battery life on my mvp 20w. It only lasted about 18 hours of infrequent vaping (because after getting too much nicotine Monday night I retreated back to tobacco because I got scared I'm not doing this right). Some videos I watched, people were saying they got 3 days off the unit. So I don't know.

But I'm very excited. I have to say, I let the box sit in my kitchen for a week before attempting to figure out how to put my stuff together because it looked so complicated. I don't understand anything about cotton and all the stuff in the advanced threads. I'm not sure I'll ever learn. For now I just want an easy way to get off of tobacco. Nothing else has worked before - I need the "smoking" type similarity of vaping. I'm so happy it exists and sad I have come to it so late. I have COPD and I just have to get off tobacco and tar and all that filth.

I felt clearer in my chest Monday night than I have in a long time - and that was just a few hours of not smoking! Sorry I'm rambling. I'm excited about the world of vaping and I want to jump in with both feet but there's so much to learn. Thank you (and everyone) again. :)

MBV has two sections on their site. One section features e-liquid, and the other section features nicotine "flavoring". If you purchased the peanut butter from the nicotine "flavoring" section, it's a flavoring, and is meant to be mixed with straight PG or VG at about 10-25%/mL ratio.

Since the juice has 50/50 on it, though, I don't think you got the flavoring, I think you got the pre-mixed e-liquid, meaning you're good to vape.

At what wattage/what ohms?

That's good, about the peanut butter! Wattage.... A2.0, V4.1?

I don't really understand how to work that part yet. Thanks! :)

Lol that A is actually an R (I'm only guessing based on the MVP2, I've never used the MVP3/20W). Your resistance is 2.0, and you're firing at 4.1 volts, meaning you're outputting 8.4 watts. At 5-second puffs, this should give you about 1000 puffs worth of battery life (Steam Engine). The MVP3 has a puff counter, right? How many puffs are you able to get in 1 charge?

I don't know how to use the puff counter yet. I'm probably really slow at this! When I press one of the buttons nothing happens unless I press them both at once? Thanks! :)

Subohm means using a coil with a resistance of less than 1 ohm. People say it gives better vapour and flavour, which is probably true when using a mechmod. With all the devices out today with which you can change the wattage according to your liking, sub-ohming isn't really necessary anymore. I prefer my coils to be around 1.5 ohms, and I don't like hot vapour, so my wattage is usually not much higher than 9.5 watts.

Ohhh, OK. Yes, I don't want a harsh vapor. Lol I just filled a tank with a different flavor and forgot to put the coil in and it spilled all over. Cleaned up as well as I could. :D:eek:

Heh, happens to the best of us. One time I wasn't paying attention and for some reason thought I was filling a tank when I was dripping in my RDA, dumped about 4mL into my RDA and it wasn't until it started pouring out of the air holes that I realized I had made a huge mistake.

Haha, the main thing I'm worried about is absorbing too much nicotine! If my liquid is 18 nicotine, does that mean it's equivalent to an 18 mg transdermal patch? So the whole bottle equals one patch?

Nope. 18mg means 18mg/mL. So for every 1mL of e-liquid there is 18mg of nicotine. That's some pretty high nic stuff (at least to me), if you spill it on yourself be sure to wash/rinse your hands thoroughly. You shouldn't see any negative side effects even in extreme situations (don't go drinkin' the stuff though) such as spilling a bottle or accidentally getting some in your mouth.

And how much danger am I in of my battery exploding? It's not a diy device so it shouldn't be any more dangerous than my phones, right?

Meh. Depends entirely on how you're using it, and a slew of other variables. You sound like a smart chap though, I think you're in the clear.
