Just thought I would share that i got a new foot!

She still has her knee if I'm not mistaken and this was back in 2006 so hopefully she has found something better. That is great that you have a sensation. When I sprain my ankle and tore ligaments in my ankle in November I broke down crying just thinking about how people without an ankle or leg go through the same thing everyday. And my little ankle sprain was nothing.

With her being a nurse and being on her feet I would be surprised if she didn't have some really cool ones.

Did you have to get surgery to repair your torn ligaments? Also, how long did it take your ankle to heal? I sprained my right pinky finger a few weeks ago and I think I tore a ligament. The swelling is finally going down, but the end of finger doesn't look right.

Thanks hon. I have worn it once today and getting ready to put it back on for another thirty mins and walk around in it. I have strict instructions to do so and to make sure that I don't end up with any bad red marks on my leg and heal. If I do they have to remold it. But so far all is good.

Oh and where have you been hiding?

They just put me in an ankle wrap, an air cast and gave me some diclofenic 75mg (I forget how to spell it). The swelling and the pain went down within 3 weeks but every now and then I still get that pain when I walk on it to much. I'm so hard headed they told me to get checked out with my regular doctor but I never went back. I just hope it doesn't happen again because they said its most likely to happen again since my ankle isn't right anymore. I just go day by day because my hospital bill just for that night was almost 2500 bucks and I could just imagine how much a physical therapist would be.

That's not good because I bet your ankle will go out again. Just be careful and get it checked sometime when you can. Believe me that the older you get and the things you didn't fix get really bad.

I was in one of these things for 3 weeks with crutches because every time I applied ANY pressure on my right foot I started to cry.

Now what did you go and do to your fingey? You haven't traumatized your tendons changing settings on that fine ProVari have you? Tsk, tsk, tsk. Now how are you going to type with seven fingers ... I mean eleven fingers ... I mean, oh heck, you know what I mean.

You should have seen the cost they charged me after I had my son and that was with Tri-Care lol I still had a 600.00 co-pay because I didn't want to go to a military facility. But it was worth it.

But I think anything involving a body part especially a leg, etc I will pay to get something to replace it or to fix it. I don't even want to ask how much Lighting Shell's prosthesis cost but I know in the end it was WELL worth it.

Shell...now you just need some mods to match it and you'll be decked out. I love the lightning bolt and blue is my favorite color. You can't beat comfort and that looks great!

Yeah because it will take longer to heal. It does sound like your possibly going to have to have surgery on it at some point though.

Take some anti-inflamatory otc meds. It will help the swelling go down. Ibprofin is good but there are others. Also, the aleve liquid gels will help with that and have a pain reliever in them. They worked wonders with helping the swelling of my mouth during my dental procedures and as it turns out have helped the 'little' other things that as we age get to us. e.g. I used to have to work at getting my hands to move when waking up. They always needed rubbing and had pain before I could work the stiffness out. Now, it is gone. Might be worth looking into. I had my dr prescribe the 800 ml ibprofin cause taking 4 of the over the counter ones just didn't do as good a job for some reason. And you won't have to take as many pills, which I absolutely hate to do.

I hate taking pills too. I've been taking one or two ibuprofin a day, but maybe I should take more.

It's a crazy story. One of my dogs (Raleigh) had an ear infection and can't take most meds because he's taking oral cancer drugs. Anyway, he was disoriented one morning and almost walked into me. To avoid stepping on his paw, I tried to jump over him and went straight down on our hardwood floors! I tried to avoid falling and I must have put my right arm down. I didn't feel any pain, but about half an hour later, my right pinky finger was very swollen and bright red. I iced it a lot that day and night and I've used a splint since then. I should have tried to stay off my computer, but couldn't because the quarter wasn't over (grading papers, joining in online discussions, etc.). Since I've not been on my computer as much for the past week, it seems that the swelling has gone down quite a bit. I'm trying to not use my hand very much, but I'm so used to being on my desktop a lot! Re. typing, within a couple of days after falling, I figured out how to type with nine fingers.

Ouchie!!! Trying not to hurt your furry child and hurt yourself. Have you tried taking Aleve? I know you just can't exceed 3 a day. If you have a local health department near go to them and see if they can help, if money is an issue. You may need a prescribed anti inflammatory but since you don't like taking pills. I did find a website on holistic approaches it may or may not help but it's worth a try http://ezinearticles.com/?Holistic-Methods-For-Pain-Management&id=5581566 . I also was told to do epson salt soaks, I wonder if that would help your finger with the swelling.
