A heartfelt thank you for all the good wishes as I traveled to visit my sick Dad yesterday. I'll be staying here until Wednesday, I think.

Dad's condition is definitely better than my worst fears had been. One day at a time is the only way to look at things and he's feeling good enough to complain... a lot... but that's also a genetic trait pretty well established in my family. I'm enjoying every complaint. Of course I haven't been here dealing with all the stuff that my baby brother and little sister have been dealing with, and dealing with remarkably if I do say so myself.

Thanks for the support, my friends!

My smartphone is a Palm Treo 755p that I've had for about 6 or 7 years now. I don't want to have to deal with a phone that can't last 24 hours on a charge, and this one lasts anywhere from 2 to 8 days on one charge. I did get an extended life (bigger) battery for it shortly after I bought the phone, and that battery is still in use.

I used to have a treo, I loved it back in the day. I get 24 hrs easy out of my phone now with pretty heavy use. I can get well over that when I have it jailbroken

These are the good old days. Somebody ought to write a song using that line. Oh, wait... never mind.

Twice now in the years I've been using my Treo, I've tried other phones that I could get inexpensively from Sprint, since my Treo is rather battered and bruised. But each of those times I ended up asking Sprint to switch my service back to the Treo: once because I couldn't stand the short battery life of the new phone, and the other because I broke the flimsy screen of the new phone.

In a van ............down by the river
(and probably with the same dumb phone I've had for the last 7 years, too)

Yeah, I resisted the upgrade for a long time myself.

The new housemate and the new girlfriend(2 different people) both quickly talked me into it, so they could text me.
I had texting disabled on my last phone because I didn't want to have to pay the extra $5 a month for however many texts, and before that, my friends would text me and each text cost 20 cents, to send OR receive, if it's not part of your plan.

I just checked my bill and in one week, on my old non-text plan, I would have already racked up about $60 worth of texts.
Ahh...the freedom of UNLIMITED talk & text.

Plus...this phone does all kinds of cool stuff that my old dumb phone can't even touch.
