IMO this EVOD will working at best on 2.5 Ohms, 3.7 V....I used 2.5 ohms EVOD and set my VAMO to 8.0 watts and using 50:50 DIY Liquid...it vapes great...

I got a variable ego, I should be okay. But my dad has a 900 mah ego twist and I got one for him too, im just a little worried. I believe it is 1.8 ohms the one I got, should it be a major problem? The juice will be 80vg 20pg

It won't be a problem, but 2.5ohm would be better on a Spinner or Twist. Check out this handy wattage/Vaping Power Chart. With a 1.8ohm you can't get in the 'cooler' vape zone, while there is a lot of excess heat zone. The Twist voltage range of 3.2v to 4.8v fits nicely however in the 2.5ohm 'good zone'.

I ordered 5 of em. They literally just came in the mail 30 minutes ago. Loaded up one with Hype from Alien Visions and the stupid thing completely flooded. Opened it up and inspected the coil/wick assembly. There is only 2 strands of wick in there compared to the T3's 3 strands. The problem is it looks like the slot for the wicks has been notched out compared to the T3s making the slot big enough for 3-4 strands. I would be really upset at this point but since I bought these with rebuilding the wick in mind (had an issue with stock silica wick breaking apart and being sucked into my mouth/lungs) it wasn't that big of a deal.

I took it apart and and rebuilt the head with organic unbleached makeup pad and a 4/5 wrap of 32 awg kanthal which yielded 1.9 ohms. Originally I did 2 strands of the cotton but it was still extremely gurgley. Added another strand of cotton and it seems to be working better. I'll vape it w/ 3 for an hour before I decide to add more.

I really like the fit and finish of it. The stock head (of the first one I opened) is crap.

Wow really? Not saying you are unaware of this, but did you tighten the coil assembly to the base before filling? They come loose, so it will leak, but I've read that they need tightening, did so, NO LEAKS!

And I think the stock coil is nice, gives more flavor than a boge. I can dial this all the way up on a twist and it SHINES!

Hi MF Doom,

Yes my my coil assembly was loose out of the box and I did tighten it. It may be possible this is just a quality control issue where a few have the problem which I experienced. I have 4 more I have yet to test out but I will update the thread after I open another one.

I also have 2 MT3s which I had no problem at all with until I had one tank sitting for a week w/ juice in it When I fired it up the stock silica wick fell apart and I sucked the wick into my mouth and lungs. I'm still a little freaked out over the incident but meh. I think that is a general problem and not something specific to the T3.

There's probably a lot of threads around here about what I'm going to ask, but I felt this should stay in this thread because it's so specific.

I've jumped over the cliff and ordered one of these things. It's coming with the 2.5 ohm coil because that's what came on the Red one I ordered, but I ordered some 1.8 ohm coils also. I see a lot of people talking about rebuilding these things, and I'd like to learn more about this. Any videos anywhere?

I smoke mostly Double RY4, and I sometimes wonder if I shouldn't clean my eGo-T atomizer more often than I do. I don't think DRY4 is a particularly "dirty" juice flavor, but I'm having problems with varying smoke with it, which is why I am trying the EVOD out. How often should the coils be cleaned on these? I realize there's not a specific answer due to a lot of factors, but is there a symptom that would tell me I've went too long without flushing?

Thanks. I feel like a noobie all over again every time I try out a new piece of hardware.

MF DOOM, i absolutely agreed with you...i think the loosen coil assembly is the main problems...i do had experience this matter also when i first using my EVOD...and also, from my opinion, this EVOD produce more flavor than T3.

hi Blackbeard, IMO, there are 2 factors that can make our coil burned out and full with gunk, which are the thickness of your juices and sweetener percentage in those juice, more sweetener you used, the faster gunk will build up in your coil...

i always clean up my coil after 2 times refill,...so it always works great and i got the best flavor to vape.

@Blackbeard - So far no videos specific to the EVOD but it is almost identical to the Vivi Nova rebuilds. Here's 1 video as an example and tons more out there.

Vision Vivi Nova, Part 2 - Changing Wick (COTTON) & Final Impressions - YouTube

I use the cotton pads for wick which are $1 for a billion of them and bought 100ft of coil for 8 bucks on ebay. I've sadly rebuilt so many by now that I can rebuild em in under 5 minutes so I don't even bother to clean them out anymore. I just rebuild. If I manage to find some time today I'll try to put a vid for the EVOD together for you.

Just another update too on the EVOD.

Wick issues - I've opened up 3 out of the 5 I ordered. They all had different amount of wicking material in them. The lowest having 2 pieces and the the highest 4. I'm not sure what that's all about. Didnt matter much to me as I said in an earlier post I just rebuild the wicks and coils anyway and never bother using the out of the box stuff.

Cracked mouth piece? - So after rebuilding one of the coils and wicks for the wife, I filled it w/ Rawr Vapor Antidote. I took a couple drags and set it down (standing up on the battery) while I rebuilt another wick. The mouth piece literally cracked in front of my eyes. I'm not sure if it was due to some ingredient in the juice or some type of super natural omen telling me not to use Antidote in EVODs. If anyone is interested I'd be happy to take some pics.

stashbldr,

Thanks for the link. Very nice video. Where can I find the coil wire and wicking? He mentioned using 3mm wicking but I'm not sure I heard anything about wire. Is that nichrome wire and what thickness and resistance do I need to learn about?

Mine should be here tomorrow, so I guess I need to clean the oil off of the coil and try it out, even though the video didn't show a pre-fill cleansing.

Hi Blackbeard,
Usually it use 32 AWG Kanthal-A1, 4-5 wraps, aim for 2.4-2.6 ohms. you also can use nichrome wire, but kanthal is the best.

I use 32 awg a-1 kanthal .. I buy it from a great seller on Ebay .. it's $8.89 for 100 ft with free shipping, he ships immediately and 100 ft will last for a long long time. His ebay nick is tankecigs. I also buy my silica wick on Ebay but you can also buy it from some of the ecig suppliers too, like Stormys has it. I use 2mm silica, 2.5mm and 3.0 .. it just depends on the mood I'm in LOL. Today I made some using 1 piece of 2mm plus a few extra strands .. which would equal 3mm. I then used a 2mm for the flavor wick. Making your own is a lot of fun, learning how to do it is simple .. thanks to youtube videos. :)

Here's the link to the kanthal wire on Ebay:
Kanthal A 1 Wire 32 Gauge 0080 Resistance Heating Wire 100 Ft | eBay

And here's a nice guy who sells silica wick on Ebay, right now he has a choice of either 1.5mm or 2.5mm:
2 5 mm Silica Wick 1 5 mm Silica Wick | eBay
