well your cotton needs to be loose, i.e. if you're using cotton pad, remove the top and bottom layer (stiff layers, not going to absorb liquid well) and use the "mashy" layers in the middle and wick. not to wick too much otherwise the cotton will not allow positive flow of liquid into the deck.

also, then again, check the coverage of your cotton / wicking around the coil. usually if wick improperly, 'haptic' feedback will result in the mod to recognise a higher/ lower resistance and input a lower/ higher potential difference across the coil to achieve the MW target, resulting in overfiring leading to dry hits.

i will upload pictures once i am going to re-wick my coil

Hi thanx.. I usually 'pull' the pads so they are loose like for the sushi roll method. Then I just cut them and fit them it.. 2 for the coil, another 2 thinner pcs for the wick holes at the sides. Any empty spaces I will cut some smaller pcs to fill.. Man when it works it works darn fine! ;) but dry hits will come later;(
When I open up the cotton will look half dry.. ;(

After using the subox for a close to a month now. Im thinking of upgrading... Any ideas?
billow v2! oh you mean the mod? depends on what you're looking for (i.e. features, maximum output you wanna go, size, etc). perhaps that will be a good starting point to narrow down the possibilities :)

velocity > billow
billow is a tad harder to build on due to the tight chamber. wicking also needs to be quite precise.
but if you're not a fan of bringing around your juice and dripping every now and then, go for a tank (maybe consider others that are easier to build on). or there's and RDTA in a thread around here that looks pretty cool, can try that and have best of both worlds xD

edit: here's the link for the RDTA

snow wolf > ipv3
sleeker and i feel it's nicer to hold than ipv3 because i have smaller hands. but finger print magnet unless u paste sticker.

For a girl i think if you're not gonna vape at high watts then don't get big mods, very hard to hold + you might never go past 100w.
Evic vtc mini/vapourshark DNA is small and powerful enough.

Personally i dont like the evic mini... Yea i wouldnt go over 100w thou.. Hmmm
I do agree with @Pouf .. if you want a guaranteed performance, go with SX Mini. it has garnered a huge fan base with its SX350J chip, capped at 60W but open to firmware upgrade. RDA vs RTA, we all keep one each for portability and flavour / vapor joy.

Already using the subox mini. Just thinking of getting one with temp control. Cotton getting charred fast

I've got one mod with TC and I found myself using more of the wattage / voltage mode than temperature control mode. it's much comfortable that way knowing that I have more control on the potential difference (ohms law, baby!) applied across the coil(s). even with STM, I can do dual build of 8 x 26 awg nichrome but often I find myself falling back to vertical build with 24awg kanthal a1/ nichrome 8/7 of 3mm diameter.. that's where I see more flavour and vapor coming out of it. of course with a RDA of shorter and wider shaft that can almost give more than STM's. I've never seen more physics at work than this after coming into the world of cloud blowing other than my school days flunking badly at Ohms and Eddy currents.

with temperature control, unless I am using Nickel or Titanium coils most of the time or using DNA200 setup to input a resistance curve to other metals, I hardly see how the TC can work in my favour knowing that I can't prescribe a resistance behaviour to the mod setting.

cotton charred can be due to amount of wicking (too dense can constrict the flow of liquid absorbed by the cotton heading inward towards the heating section) or the porous surface availability (if you're using cotton pad, try removing the top and bottom layers, these are the stiff ones and can restrict rate of absorption). also, on the type of liquid (higher VG? Or the liquid is so sweet that it can put the mamak stall's teh tarik to shame?)... there are numerous factors contribute to the vaping experience, and you have to find the one that best suits your needs.

if you're chain vaping all the time with a set up (coil + wicking) suited for less intense draw off and rate of firing, then perhaps you might want to Google around or youtube and see what you can work with. you'll be surprised that there are folks on YouTube blowing chunks of cloud even with STM!

I'm not saying that you ought to stick to STM till its end of life, but it's all about optimising your experience with the hardware to make the best out of it. me owning a Ferrari doesn't necessarily mean I'm a racer. just saying.
