I've got one mod with TC and I found myself using more of the wattage / voltage mode than temperature control mode. it's much comfortable that way knowing that I have more control on the potential difference (ohms law, baby!) applied across the coil(s). even with STM, I can do dual build of 8 x 26 awg nichrome but often I find myself falling back to vertical build with 24awg kanthal a1/ nichrome 8/7 of 3mm diameter.. that's where I see more flavour and vapor coming out of it. of course with a RDA of shorter and wider shaft that can almost give more than STM's. I've never seen more physics at work than this after coming into the world of cloud blowing other than my school days flunking badly at Ohms and Eddy currents.
with temperature control, unless I am using Nickel or Titanium coils most of the time or using DNA200 setup to input a resistance curve to other metals, I hardly see how the TC can work in my favour knowing that I can't prescribe a resistance behaviour to the mod setting.
cotton charred can be due to amount of wicking (too dense can constrict the flow of liquid absorbed by the cotton heading inward towards the heating section) or the porous surface availability (if you're using cotton pad, try removing the top and bottom layers, these are the stiff ones and can restrict rate of absorption). also, on the type of liquid (higher VG? Or the liquid is so sweet that it can put the mamak stall's teh tarik to shame?)... there are numerous factors contribute to the vaping experience, and you have to find the one that best suits your needs.
if you're chain vaping all the time with a set up (coil + wicking) suited for less intense draw off and rate of firing, then perhaps you might want to Google around or youtube and see what you can work with. you'll be surprised that there are folks on YouTube blowing chunks of cloud even with STM!
I'm not saying that you ought to stick to STM till its end of life, but it's all about optimising your experience with the hardware to make the best out of it. me owning a Ferrari doesn't necessarily mean I'm a racer. just saying.
Already using the subox mini. Just thinking of getting one with temp control. Cotton getting charred fast
