I really thought this post would be me saying that you guys are putting too much into this "hole lining up" thing but I had to check it out first and it made more of a difference than I expected.
Note though that on my screw the screw driver slot if at 12 and 6 0'clock the air holes are at 3 and 9 o'clock
(KFL, not a clone)

I don't know whether it makes a difference or not, but one of my 3 KFL's has the air holes at 3 and 9 if the screw head lines up at 6 and 12 too. Air flow seems to be the same as the other two..

I'm reasonably sure it made a difference (can't be 100% sure, because I had to move my coil back after I rotated the block).

Whether screwing the air screw out and lining up the positive pin just balanced out, and left me back where I started, is another question. But it seems to taste better... Perhaps a better air path, even if the net flow is the same. I'd say worth trying if you haven't.

So I just built a 28ga 1.2 ohm carto style vertical coil...throat hit is pretty much gone and it's not really producing enough additional flavor to look past the lack of TH, vapor production is about the the same and it wicks perfectly, I'm using 24mg El Kamino, a little surprised I'm not getting a TH with 24mg. The build I'm really looking forward to will be ribbon Kanthal, the flat wire just seems to make more sense...to be continued.

Morning Kayfunners...for any of you interested in shortening up your KF here's a lovely 3ml clear tank for your KFL or 3.1...the guy that makes them can be found at the CaliVapors forum, he's sold a bunch of these, everyone that's purchased and received one says they fit perfectly. And If anyone desires a colored version in the size he already makes or a stock size colored tank let him know...if he gets enough requests he might just build them.

He's easy to reach via PM or the thread at CaliVapers, don't see any reason why he wouldn't sent to Canada, his $25 price includes domestic shipping, he might charge a couple more bucks…

i'd be willing to pay a few extra bucks for shipping. i have emailed him and pm'ed him... no reply as of yet. i need to find some of that tubing and cut and tap it myself ;)

Do to the excess noise it made I opened it back up and un-aligned the hole. Nice and quiet again.

Mine came unaligned and it vapes like freight train and doesn't make a sound other than the sweet snap, crackle, and pop of the juice turning to vapor. As far as I'm concerned, it has only one direction to go and it aint up.

While this is not a KFL but an Oddy/Kafun conversion it still may be of interest to some. After watching the video of an Aqua running at 0.2 Ω making dripper clouds I thought I'd give it a try except I missed my target and got 0.3 Ω but it did quite well. I then returned it to the same build that I use in my KFL as that is not my thing, I just wanted to see if it would do it. The conversion kit has considerable more air.

BTW, I hate them big screw heads.

We've got one camp taking dremels to their shiny new expensive toys, in the spirit of "Well, it might permanently ruin it. But it also might work better. Only one way to find out!"

And then we've got another camp being told "You rotate that screw slightly, it might improve performance" and replying "Hmm. Well, I could do that, but I don't see any point, because it's damn near perfect already, and I might have to turn it back again..."

:)

Not intended as a criticism of either camp. I just think it's a funny illustration of how different vapers' perspectives on the same thing can be.

Might be why the gum doesn't work. "Four flavours? How decadent. Let's ban that one just to be on the safe side..."

[edit - although saying that, I used to cut the gum up and mix it with normal gum to lower the strength so you could chew it normally. It's probably ultimately for the best that I don't own a dremel...]

I was planing on taking a dremel to my juice channels in my quest to make it handle 15 watts but I stepped back, thought really hard about it and decided to try out a very sparse density cotton wick and my problems have been solved completely!

Glad I put my Dremel away. I did however shrink down the length of my KFL+'s air screw to make sure the air hole could be completely opened with the screw still in it's hole. Now both my KFL+ and KFL have identical air draws witch to me is just perfect.
