hey guys been out of town for almost a week and just got back. I just wanted to pass some info here about a few days away with my kaylites. before I left I grabbed 2 new juices from madcatt vapors, both were strawberry juices that were steeping for over a week. I brought 2 kayfuns, one with my dna-20 and one with a mechanical mod. being I was only going to be away for 4 days I didn't bring any other juice with me except the new ones and what was left in the kayfuns before I left. the first night away I emptied one of my lites, changed the cotton and added the new juice. from the first vape I knew something wasn't right because the flavor was very muted and tasted bad. I re did the wick and tried again but the results were the same. anyways I put it down for the night and just vaped what was left in the other device. the next night I was out of my regular juice and decided to try the 2nd juice, so I broke down the 2nd klite and tried the other juice, after the first vape this also was terrible, now both lites were terrible. next I changed the coils and also re wicked but couldn't get either kayfun to work. what I thought in the next 2 days was that maybe my cotton that I brought was somehow fouled resulting in this muted, cottony tasting vape. anyways when I got home I re did one set up with some new cotton and the same exact thing, nasty. next I opened up a fresh bag of cotton and the same freaking thing. now I said to myself it has to be the juice, maybe this juice just doesn't like cotton so I did a silica set up to no avail, same dam thing. anyways I did 2 more new set ups without that juice and wala, success! this was the first juice that I ever bought that smelled awesome, I mean this strawberry smelled absolutely magnificent but just didn't vape worth a shiiit. I must of tried every dam set up I could think of, I did low resistance coils, high resistance coils, low watts, hi watts. I did 32/ 30/ 28/ 27/ 26, I did twisted 32/ 30/ 28. I even did silica and nothing worked on this juice, actually it was both juices, non could produce a good flavor at all. anyways I wonder when I have heard of people having no good results with their kayfuns or micro coils or cotton, etc , if it could just be a certain juice?

Not sure if anyone remembers, but a few months ago I was here begging for help because for some reason my KFLs just randomly started tasting awful and weird. There were all sorts of suggestions about the insulators being burnt, stale cotton, bad combination between wick and juice. I probably tried troubleshooting in every single way possible, including soaking in 99% isoprop. Nothing worked. No matter what juice or wick I had in it, it just tasted foul.
When a new kfl arrived, I decided to throw that funky kfl in for my typical new comer's boiling water + dawn dish washing detergent soak for half hour. Twice.
Next thing you know? The funky kfl was back to it's stellar self. No new parts. Nothing but just a boiling water soak.
To this day I still have no idea why, and it's happened a few times to me. A boiling water and dawn soak works every time. Worth a short, as trivial as it seems

sometimes they do have a mind of their own, for sure but in my case it was the juice 100%.
My method is after every third wick change, the kayfun gets a 30 minute ultrasonic bath.

I have some juice from (juice company anonymous name here), it wont run in a kayfun, tastes way off. Only good for a carto set up. I put it in a dripper and it runs off the wick real fast. Possibly thinned with water, not sure it is still sitting here past 9 months.
I won't put anything past possible when it comes to Vaping.
My gear always gets stripped and goes into an Ultrasonic cleaner - Natural Orange cleaning solution.
If something goes Bad - Taste wise - Juice is the first thing I look at.
I have learned not only are flavors from different makers quite different but Delivery systems can Greatly influence Flavor.
Same E-liquid in my:
ProtankII with Areotank AFC
Kayfun Lite Plus
2 Totally different taste. Not even similar. One seemed Dull and Bready while the other(Kayfun) Had a rich Caramel Flavor(correct)
This from the same Bottle on the Same day.
Yet the ProtankII performs well with most e-liquids.

Oh, on the glass kit for kayfun's... I am really liking the SOV kit. I did mic the glass tank (after braking 1) It is only 1.5 ml thick, but the bottom fill hole does work. It is the best of the 2 kits i have. Been running full strength Pluid in mine all day and its been solid. So now i can take Pluid out of the house & leave the Genny's @ home.

I agree about the boil because I have heard it before being successful. I on the other hand have never boiled any of my kayfuns and never felt the need, maybe this might be that my usual juices aren't to strong or maybe its because I break down my kayfuns like every other day because I am always messing with them, and maybe because I do break them down that often im always rinsing them out before I make a new set up. I have heard of people keeping their coils and wicks in for a really long time and maybe if those juices were gunky kind of juices I could see the atty getting kind of grungy which then might require a better clean then just rinsing with water

maybe I just have gotten lucky when trying different flavors in my lites because all have done really well in them but this last one just didn't. I have often heard of people saying that they use this juice in the kayfun but use a different device for another, now I can see that.
I just might break out a carto for this last juice just to see if it does well, because it does smell awesome and have heard great reviews on it, it just doesn't work with micros I guess.
May just be to Fresh.......but normally Fruit flavors mature in a few days.(dependent on flavor %) to much can cause a Perfumey funk until steeped. If Alcohol based it may need to breath.(cap off over night)
I never ever .. EVER .. travel with untested/untried products. Only products that I trust go with me, whether it be hardware or juice. Even then, I'm paranoid enough that I'll take backups.. just in case.
What were the juices you picked up? They could just need some more steeping before they are ready to be vaped, specially if they are creamy dessert type juices.

well I did have 2 devices, so I did have a back up, as for the juice? ya I messed up. I figured how bad could they be, their strawberry. anyways I did have them for over a week before using so I figured they were fairly steeped but maybe that's not enough with these particular juices, all I know is they smelled awesome but tasted like nothing. maddcatts ripe strawberry and strawberry crème.
as far as I know they are not alcohol based unlike some that I have tried from VV, which is another story. they were steeped over a week. I haven't thrown them away and might give em another go next week.

I hear you on back ups, I always think of that but I usually associate it with devices rather then juice but not again. Another thing I learned is that I could probably quite vaping after doing it for a few years because the last few days away I wasn't to bothered that really didn't have anything to vape. I thought I would freak out like I remember with cigarettes but it didn't happen. for now though, I enjoy it too much to quite.

I'm with you on the being able to quit vaping. I forgot my mod when me and the wife went out for dinner and drinks, I made it no prob (4 hours) I know that's not very long but if I was still smoking I would have been climbing the walls!
apparently a new study is saying its not really the nic that's addicting but the other 10 thousands chemicals they add to keep you addicted...
I am being serious when I ask this..... when you travel what are you taking with you? What do you carry your gear in? I read the last several posts and got to wondering. I know for just a short jaunt around town I'm taking backups for backups and I can't imagine what I'd need if I am going to be gone for over a week.
