From the Classifieds Rules:

Unacceptable
Counterfeit - Counterfeits will basically be an exact replica of the original and not so much tied to the shape as it is more the markings. The shape would come into play if there are unique characteristics of the device. This can include grooves, cutouts, coloring, or trademarks in specific locations.

Acceptable
Clone - Can be similar in size, shape, and even design but will not contain the same markings or colors. As long as the device can be distinguished as different from the original, not just by the word clone, it will be considered a clone. Just by declaring a device a clone in it's title or description will not necessarily make it a clone. The clone device should be absent of all characteristics contained in the original, grooves, cutouts, coloring, or trademarks.

I get irritated when I see places like that unnamed "Fast" place in England selling "Kayfun" products with the Svoemesto logo either on the product itself or in the ad or both. Deception gets under my skin quick.

How high do you guys go on voltage for a 1.4 ohm micro coil (28 gauge, 9-10 wraps)? I'm usually around 3.7 - 3.8 volts, but I've got a finicky juice that seems to work well at 4.0. Is that too high?

Nothing is too high if you like it. The worst thing you could do is listen to any of us bozos. You set it where you like it. Case closed.

the only thing I will say is try it at different levels till you dial it in to where you like it.

I have a question about the coils for these; I've finally gotten this thing wicked correctly, using 3 of the 4 strands of P&C yarn. The coil itself is 1.7Ω. What I'm experiencing is a repetition, each time I press the fire button, of a "pop", every time -- I have to wait a sec after pressing the button before I bring it to my mouth, or get a hot pop right in the mouth. Is there something I could do to avoid this, in future? I've had some of these pops with the T3S's I'm more accustomed to, but it's usually sporadic, I've noticed it most when a tank has been sitting, filled, for a while, like overnight. With this kayfun, it's every press of the button. Just wondering what could be causing it, so I can avoid it in future.

Thx,
Andria

It's just the juice heating up. It pops. Is it severe?

Yeah it's pretty bad; the first couple times it happened, it got me right on the tongue. That's when I started pressing the button before I even point it at myself, nevermind put my mouth to it. It's one loud pop, sometimes 2, but the 2nd one isn't as bad. Usually it's just one.

When I first got a variable, I was turning it up to 4.7-4.8, loving the throat hit, but wondering why it so often tasted burned -- if I used a lower resistance coil, it would taste burned everytime. That's when I learned to use the variable wattage instead, and stopped getting the nasty surprises.

BTW, I looooooooove your avatar! I haven't seen Bill the Cat in YEARS!!!!!!!!! DECADES!!! Bill the Cat for President!!! :D

Correct. The screw has a hexagonal hole in it and the L-shaped tool is hexagonal and fits into the hole. You'll most likely get a bit of a whistle as you tighten the draw. Just the nature of the design.

Well... *as far as I can see*, there's no screw in that other aperture, but it does seem to be hex shaped; however, again, *as far as I can see* neither end of that L-shaped tool fits that aperture; it's hard to say for sure because I have to hold a magnifying glass to see if I'm getting the tool into that aperture, so that means I don't have a spare hand to hold the kayfun in place as I try to get the tool into the aperture. So, I'm not sure what to do about that, except just accept the airflow as it is, which is a bit too airy for my liking -- actually I find the draw from a carto to be just about right, very similar to the draw from a real cigarette, and that's a good deal tighter than the draw I'm getting from this. I'm going to try this again when my husband gets home; he sees up close much better than I do, and may be able to tell if the tool fits, if it's actually doing anything, etc. All these little tiny things are not very friendly for those of us with middle-aged eyes -- by far the hardest part of all this with the kayfun was getting the wire around those tiny screws! But this thing with the airflow may have to take precedence in difficulty even over that, since I can't really even tell if the tool is going into that hex shaped aperture.

I did get my husband to help me out with this, and he confirmed it, that allen wrench that came in the pkg is too large; it appears to be the same size as my husband's 1.5mm allen wrench, and the [Tobeco] KFL+ apparently needs one that's 1mm. My husband also had a "standard" which was marked ".050" and although it was a little smaller than the hex opening, it did serve well enough to do the adjustment, so I got the air flow closed about 3/4 of the way, and can finally taste it! It's amazing! :thumb:

I sent "ironvapin" some feedback on eBay, about the allen wrench being too large, so maybe they'll fix that for future kits.

For me, a clone is a copy of an rba that is made exactly same but is sold for a lot less.

It's just that to me, a clone is a clone is a clone is a clone. It's just silly to call one a REAL clone.

can't say I agree that a clone is made EXACTLY the same though. I've owned 16 clones and 8 authentic, and there is just absolutely no denying the difference in quality.

The decision lies more in whether I can live with certain flaws when I pay less. Many times I can, but I've seen some clones which are complete piece of crap.

The same way Gucci purses you buy off the street in NYC are made exactly the same but sold for less? Just because something "looks" the same don't mean it is. Quality costs money. You do know german machinists are considered THE best in the world, right? If its cheaper, they made price cuts some where wether it be build quality or materials or whatever. Do you really think your FastTech $15 Kayfun is made "exactly" the same? Come on bro. I have nothing against clones but when people come on here and say "its the EXACT same thing" makes me laugh. I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess you have never owned an authentic Kayfun.

I hope Dusty splits this thread, I don't think talk about clones does anything to advance this thread...
