ECF's always good for a clone war , now we have the are you an innie or an outie debacle , everybody check your equipment LOL ! :)

Hahaha oh no no you've got me wrong! I'm a HUGE proponent of clones, and I have a good number of authentic. I was just pretty sure that the protruding center post was a distinct trait of the clones, particularly Artemus' BE clones. I'm a self-professed fan boy of his :D

I do however think it's important to state clone or authentic when posting about problems or flaws. :)

Here's another one. I started out using cotton in my kayfun. then I switched to silica and used it for many months. Didn't experience much of a difference. Dusty bugged me to try cotton again (sort of). So now I'm on my fourth consecutive tank using cotton (again). And again, I'm finding indiscernible difference. Now, I could tell everyone they're nuts for thinking there is a difference. but I also know no two humans are the same. I absolutely believe people who say cotton is different (and better in the vast majority of cases). I don't doubt them for a second. I just happen to be an exception. Why? Beats me. Maybe 40+ years of smoking 30 Marlboros/day has something to do with it and using a turd wick would yield the same results?? Maybe it's just perception? No idea. Sometimes, (as the saying goes) it is what it is.

I'm beginning to think that may be the whole issue with that Nano -- it's just *me* -- everyone else seems to love them. Or maybe what is a good sized wick in the full sized KF is just a bit too much in the Nano.

I didn't like cotton at all, when I was trying the cotton yarn, so I went back to silica, then ekowool, and that worked well in the T3Ss. but in the Kayfun, I thought I was supposed to be getting all this flavor, and with the silica/ekowool, I really wasn't, and the yarn was no better in the KF than it was in the smaller tanks. So I tried out the organic cotton -- EUREKA! Suddenly I understood all the hype and holler about organic cotton. I don't really know if it's some property of the cotton, or maybe with the cotton it's easier for me to get the proper sized wick, because if it's too much it bunches and there is no question but that it's too much. WhatEVER it is, it works for me, and I'll probably never use silica/ekowool again -- although I may give it a try when I try the Nano again, if I still get the burnt taste when using cotton in the Nano.

Don’t think it's you, sort of. I've seen at least a few folks talk about the way their vape tapers off when the Kayfun is less than half full so now they always refill at the halfway point. Seems to me if you took those builds and put them in a nano sized Kayfun they'd have the same issue as you. And you know a good build works top to bottom so they had something off in their builds.

Point is, I think it's your build but just like you got your full sized build working well, eventually you'll get the nano build working.

Well, I guess that's good to know; maybe I'll get the hang of this thing eventually. :D

Well fooey. I was feeling so hopeful, I went ahead and tried again with the nano. At first it seemed ok... but on the 3rd hit, BURNT taste.. I took a couple priming puffs, 4th hit was slightly better... 5th hit, BURNT taste. This was on the coil and wick I've been using all day, so I knew it worked, and I knew also that the wick was a bit on the slim side, so it *should* have worked. So I took it all back apart, and tried some ekowool. Guess it was too fat for that coil, somehow getting it threaded made a perfectly good 1.6 ohm coil start giving me LOW LOAD messages from the Sigelei. So I said hell with it and took it all apart again, made a new coil, 1.8 ohms this time... I have no idea why the same number of wraps on the same drill bit gives me .2 ohm difference, but they never come out the same... put the full sized M tank back on, and back to vape nirvana. Think I'm about ready to just give up on that nano. It might be easier to go thru all this disassemble/reassemble garbage after I have a nano M tank, so I don't have to keep threading all these rings time after time after time... Then again, I'm having such terrible luck with the nano, not sure I want to waste anymore money on it. Guess that was $13.95 down the toilet. :-x

That's strange. In theory, the nano should actually wick better than the full size, due to the liquid heating up quick as there's less of it in a nano tank. Darn you Physics!

If your trying to lower capacity I have seen pics of the kayfun being setup as a dripper. Just remove the 2 sections not for me but might work for others

I find dripping useful only for tasting, not for sitting around or sitting at the computer; I don't want to have to fiddle with something when I'm already doing something else, I just want to pick it up and vape. And it's not really the capacity I want to lower, I just figured that was a necessary downside of having a lower profile, a more compact size. Oh well. At the least regular size one works great. If I ever see an opportunity to pick up that particular nano plastic tank that sorta "bulges," rather than having straight sides, I might try one of those; the thing is, I already have a nano chimney-top, so I don't really need another; unless perhaps that nano chimney is the problem; the small o-ring in the top cap *always* sticks to that chimney top when I take it apart, which never happens with the full sized chimney top. Makes me wonder if this one is just not machined properly, which could maybe explain its inadequacy.

Triple twisted 32g 9/10 wrap coil, measured in at 1.6 ohms... Running at 4.5v.

I did an angled coil this time around and went with a S shaped cotton wick.

Massive flavour and vapour, although it almost seems to be begging for more power. A LOT MORE!

There has been every conceivable Kayfun build attempted and reported on this thread. I tried something a little different and want to chronicle it in this thread as a contribution to the vast knowledge gained and shared with my fellow Kayfunners past, current, and future.. I wanted to see how long I could make a coil last. To refresh, my coil is a 30ga, 10 wrap, 2.0mm (5/64ths) ID coil. I've used primarily silica wick but have also run cotton as well. I built this coil on December 1, 2013 and it is with great sadness that I announce I had to euthanize it tonight. There were two reasons. The primary reason was that it was no longer glowing from inside out as it had been to this point. The glow started on one side and worked its way to the other end. Efforts to re-crimp and repair went without reward. The second reason is I'm getting resistance creep. The coil started as a 2.0ohm coil and it is now worked its way up to 2.4ohms. I'm sure I could get continued use out of this coil, but decided to retire it to the stud farm because building a new coil is essentially effortless, inexpensive, and why settle for anything less than perfect?

Anyhow, thought you'd be interested. Very few people use a coil till the end of its useful life so I wanted to get it chronicled.

BTW... I have a question about something I've noticed with my KFL+ and I figured you guys were the ones to ask about it. Sometimes when I've been vaping a tank for a pretty good while, and it's down to maybe 3/5 full, all of a sudden I get e-juice in my mouth... I can tell by feel, it's a bit oily feeling, so I notice it right away before it hits my tongue, THANK GOD, but I just wondered why it sometimes does that. I can't spot any particular thing that seemed likely to cause it.

    Thx!

The only things that come to mind is either you're getting too much juice in the chamber (but then it would likely gurgle) or you are taking some pretty hellacious draws and sucking up a little juice. Perhaps a little jiggling of the wick will help dam up any juice that works its way up the sides. Or open up the airflow a little and take longer (less hellacious) draws. This has never been an issue with me so my advice is worth what you paid for it.
