with my real kayfun lites, I drilled out the airholes to 3/64th I believe (will check that) basically in my lites, I took out the 510 screw and positive block, along with coil and such. then using the best bit you can buy, drill out the side air hole. gotta go super slow but its not too bad. this bores out the air hole all the way to the 510 channel. same thing with my lite pluses, the only difference is to take out the afc screw. after this rinse and wash real good. this does open the draw somewhat and is noticeable, you do feel the difference but its not a major difference. anymore then the 3/64th and it wont make a difference because of the hole in the 510 screw. I believe the stock air hole in my kayfuns were 1/16 to start, do you know what the size is in yours? before doing this or even thinking about it, make sure there is no obstructions in the device. I have heard of some clones having shards of metal inside the afc and or air holes.

Would a can of compressed air blow out an obstruction you think?

new love in my kayfuns is KGD. been vaping regular sterile cvs cotton for a year and was loving it. decided to try the rayon, and have been vaping it for the past 5 days, while I was impressed, I wasn't sold. for my particular attys, and my particular juices and vaping style, the rayon wasn't performing any differently to my cotton. the only plus I noticed in the rayon was that my wicks seemed to last longer before changing, but then again, I change out my set ups every other day for other reasons so that isn't a big plus for me. also for me, the rayon seemed to add a sweet note to my juices that I wasn't sure of. anyways I received a few of those KGD pads from a buddy and figured I give them a try. I didn't have high hopes after the rayon try, but boy I was surprised! these pads imo, are awesome and so very easy. i know i am not the first one to do the cotton and micro coils for sure, but i was the first to post this combination in this thread last year, since then i have heard the question of "how much cotton do you put in the coil?" well that's a hard question to answer just because of the nature of a cotton ball or cotton roll. but with these pads, it wouldn't take long before an exact amount can be relayed. plus the fact that the flavor is really very good. i know there are other issues besides cotton density that people are having issues with, but its definitely a major one. there is one possible flaw in my thinking however, im not sure how many types of these pads there are? and if they all are the same in terms of density. i think there are a few different types out there, and will be purchasing a bunch to see.

Hey guys, I generally build my KFL+ at .5 but since a lot of people have been suggesting that I go higher on my resistance, I built a coil at .8 and my flavor is now muted, my vapor is less dense, and it takes significantly longer to heat up now. I'm currently using a Pegasus clone on it and I was wondering if I was to use a DNA30, if I could get the quality of my .5 hits back or if I should just dump this .8 coil and build another .5.

Grin. Lemme guess: you were using the same gauge of wire, but adding a good number of extra wraps?

Where do you get the pads, sounds like something worth trying?

I have only received some for trial so far but have asked the same question. If you look in the thread, which now is on the first page of the forum (a few down from this kayfun lite thread), you will see it as "Japanese cotton pads" or something close to that. go to last page and you will see a few links posted.

Though the big dogs are using Sally's rayon...

Been using the rayon for almost the past week, tbh no real difference in performance to my regular cotton builds. As for the most important aspect, didn't like the flavor from the rayon, it seemed to add a sweet flavor to my particular juices. maybe because I'm so used to cotton, I much prefer the kgd pads for flavor. for ease of use, has to go to the pads, alot easier to get consistent. got a giant box of rayon so if you want to be a big dog, will send you out some to try. no honestly , the rayon is very good, I just prefer the flavor from the pads. and also pm me if you would like to try the rayon

I have Sheseido, KGD, CVS and Sally's Rayon. Tried 'em all.

KGD is the best of the cotton bunch for me. Clean taste, and installing wicks is super duper easy. I like super duper easy a lot.

Sally's last longer for me, seems (might be my imagination) to wick a bit better. But it is more of a pain to install. I have a 1 week old rayon wick in my Kayfun (which is my main topper) and it is still running strong. I have rayon in a cyclone bottom feeder, and it is not working out. Probably my fault - too much, too little, too short, too long? I hate that part.

If I could find rayon in pads like the KGD, I would be in heaven.

I use MBV extreme ice, diluted down with unflavored. That is all I use. Different juices are likely to behave differently, but I am a one dimensional dullard juice-wise, so I can't speak to that directly.

Thanks for the rayon offer, but I have 3 pounds. Ugh. Need to give some to the wife.

Cheers,

Have to agree on the rayon lasting longer then the cotton. for some reason the rayon doesn't seem to gunk as quick. how does the she sei do compare to the kbd? are the pads the same density and thickness?

Diver, the pads could be very useful if for no other reason than being able to tell noobs how large it should be cut...as you suggest. It could eliminate lots of frustration for the KFL beginners. Post your results as you get them.
Yes it would be cool to ask, "what size coil do you have"? oh I have a 1/16. Ok then for a 1/16 coil, you need a strip cut to 3/16. that was just an example, but I think it could be that easy. If not then alot easier then regular cotton.

The hole seems very close to the upper portion of the deck, you know what I mean ? Also does that hole in the 510 have anything to do with air flow?

Also to the peeps I had this issue where I had to wash my Russian 5 or 6 times and I still couldn't get the taste out. I washed my new kfl clone once with hot water dawn and a toothbrush no problems.

Yeah lol I only have 26g right now.
I can understand that going from .5 to .8 using the same wire would increase lag time. I also could somewhat understand that vapor density would decrease, but not to sure why flavor would now be muted. I use 26g wire alot in my kayfun builds, and have done many in the .8 range. I would of thought that if anything, the increased wick coverage would of had equal flavor, if not more.
