I'm lucky if I get 2 hours from an 18350....more like and hour and a half before the drop off is too much for my tastes.

FYI, I get about 4 hours from an 18650 before I swap it out.

Maybe I'm a *really* heavy vaper....I do go through about 10ml a day. :vapor:

10ml a day?

I kid, I kid.. That would account for the low battery times. I vape about 5ml a day so your times and my times make sense I suppose.

Can too thick a wick cause this?

I dunno. Maybe. I don't roll the cotton much at all. Just enough to hold it's shape. I leave it pretty fluffy. I did try cotton yarn a few days ago, and didn't like it as well as the cotton balls. I assumed it was because the yarn was more dense. I don't know, because I haven't tried the yarn since. But with the cotton ball cotton, the flavor, for me, is pretty much spot on, almost right from the start. When I install a new cotton wick, I prime the cotton with a few drops, and when I fill the tank, I let it sit for a few minutes before taking a vape.

Question about micro-coil and cotton:
Using:
Rite-Aid rolled cotten
28g Kanthal, 12 wrap @ 1.4Ω
Rolled wick between fingers to make it dense as per superXdrifter's video. Was able to pull wick through without binding, laid tails on shelf but not covering holes.

How long until I no longer taste cotton, and when will I be able to taste my juice? It's not a burnt taste, just tasted like sucking on a cotton ball. No cinnamon red hots at all...

Hey eHuman.

I tried the Rite-aid rolled cotton a while ago. (The sterile 100% stuff). Mine had a distinct cotton flavor that really took a while to go away. I switch over to CVS cotton balls (sterile 100%, etc..). I could instantly tell the difference in taste. CVS was much better, cotton taste gone after a few puffs. This may just be a one off type thing, but at $3 a box it may be worth doing the comparison.

Interesting. Mine was CVS. cotton taste didn't last long. I also actually used Q-Tip cotton (the brand) and it had no cotton flavor.

Well I ripped the wick out and put a smaller one in, tastes even more cottony if that is possible.

Main reason I bought Rite-Aid rolled was because I saw it multiple times on EFC being praised as "the only cotton to get".

I took a bunch of it and boiled it. We'll see if that helps after I get it dried.

I hated the cotton taste, then I tried boiling the crap out of it and now it's neutral and clean with no cotton taste, I see some say not to boil it, not necessary, but to me it was, lots of crap came off the cotton in the boiling I think, almost like a powdery quality that was obvious to me as soon as the cotton hit the water... then I squeezed the cotton between 2 paper plates and dried it somewhat in the microwave, made a huge difference for me :)

I'm not in the cotton club it seems to get dark really fast. I use Eckowool since it can take the heat a bit better. 3mm folded once with the loop end on top of one channel and the cut ends on the other. .8 x .1 A-1 ribbon wire 2-3 wrap gives me .7ohms sitting perpendicular to the bridge.

Polished the ends and stainless tank last night.

^I get ditto from my Efests too. I usually carry two spares in my pocket, which serves well for a full workday out of home. I pop a fresh only once - around lunchtime and the second is just kept standby.
me too, 4 hours out of a 18350, and i take 2 spare to work :)

What do you use to polish the tanks, I've got a few brushed things I'd like to change up the look on.

Flitz polishing compound (Sears, Amazon) and dremel with polishing wheel @ 10k rpms then increase speed till a mirror polish. If you want to remove the brushed finish you may have to use 3m 800, then 1200 grit sand paper by hand the same direction of the grain, then polish with Flitz polishing compound. Just do them disassembled, one part at a time, Wash with dish soap, then dry after each session.

I only boiled it once but I boiled it for a really long time, 25-30 minutes, next batch I'll rinse and repeat another 2 times I think, but even the one long boil made a huge difference and I get no taste from the cotton

I've been trying so many different builds, trying to find my best build to just stick with. tonight I tried a ribbon micro coil. this is .6mm ribbon and comes in around 3.8 ohms, think it's around 15 twists. I'm using it on my exploding mod that I modified to fit the kayfun mini, it's poorly vented and runs stacked CR123's at 6V. I know that's taboo and it's a bomb and all that and I do understand why, but I've been using this mod as my daily vape just like this, at 6 volts for around 3 years now and I just love it. it's smaller and slimmer than an 18650 mod but lasts much longer than my 14500 mod and just fits my hand so well I just don't want to give it up, but I am careful and aware enough that I don't think it'll ever take my head off :)

here's the build

now I just ordered a kayfun lite today from intaste, so far I'm used to being able to play around with adjusting the draw, the build I show here for example needs a much tighter draw because that much cotton somewhat blocks a bit of the feed tubes so it needs a bit more suction to still allow it feed enough, with a tighter draw this one so far feeds and vapes pretty damn good even at a little under 10 watts, not tons of vapor really, it's not airy enough for that, but a nice sweet and very flavorful and rich vape so far, not sure I really love it but I do like it a lot so far, going to try it out a day or 2 and see, still searching for my go to best build I guess, and now the light will eliminate one tuning variable, a build exactly like this probably wouldn't feed well enough on the lite because you wouldn't be able to tighten up the draw to allow it to feed well enough I think, would need less cotton and that might not wick enough for a build like this with no center wick, in this build the airflow s pretty much right through the center of the coil itself. there isn't tons of vapor but it hits pretty hard, might need a lower nic level for this one but it's def good for a stealthy vape, where you get the hit but don't blow clouds. I'll live with it a bit and see what I might want to alter to try again :)

Weird, I find the 30g easier to work with even after I torch both types of wire. 28g is pretty springy, but I do use it for lower ohm micro coils. I rebuilt my KFL last night using 30g instead so I could up the ohms a bit because I am using a super light colored juice. I usually vape dark colored thick vg based tobacco juices.

I just got mine.. it leaks from the clear window like a little.. how do I fix that

do you mean from the seal between the plastic window and the SS tank section? if so, you could try some silicone lube or plain old vaseline. everyone has that stuff ;)

My first time building a 28ga micro. It was a lot easier than a 30ga. Vape is pretty warm, something I'm definitely not used to.

If you don't like it warm....(I do)....you can raise the coil higher off the air hole, letting more air in, giving you a bit cooler more "air'y" vape.
