iv recently went back to my 5/64th bit the 1/16th is just to temperamental to thin to thick put it all together and good for a few then dry burnt hit, the one size up seems more forgiving and heats good as long as you don't go to many wraps I find 9 to 10 wraps great for me 28g good for 1ohm up to 1.5 I have a .8 ohm set up in my omega dripper and works great

I've been using a 5/64" bit with 30g and 10 wraps for 2.2 ohm coils in both of my Kayfuns and they've been fantastic all week.

iv never tried a side mount like that always done the diagonal. is there much of a difference ?
Not too much - you'd drop a tenth or two of an ohm maybe if you diagonally mounted because the legs could be a bit shorter. Since I'm not going for the lowest ohm reading (I actually want it at 2.1 - 2.3), I like orienting the wick so that it's like two little cotton waterfalls that just touch the deck. So instead of seeing a 'sock on the floor' of a wick laying horizontally on the deck, the juice sees something like the bottom of a broom and gets pulled up into the fibers perhaps a little bit more readily. I'm not sure of the dynamics of that, but what I can say is that it works great and it's a simple design that works for me :)

Received KFL from InTaste yesterday. Vaped on it for a couple hours. Nice!!!!

Got up this morning and getting some gurgling and a little seepage. Can't figure our where the seepage is coming from yet.

Gurgling, b'coz of over wicking. U've extra juice in the firing chamber. Not uncommon, it happens with us too sometimes.

Seepage, b'coz of the above. The excess juice has leaked out from the air-hole. If unchecked - it'd flow down under - and we'd think the fill-hole has leaked!

Reason: Though a good build could yet over wick when kept overnight, it most likely is due to either:
1. The KFL is not tightened properly (all it's sub parts) while assembling it, or
2. We use a thinner e-juice and the wick is over-saturated, or
3. The coil+wick setup is sitting right on the air-channel of the base (just enough above not to short), or
4. U've a very thin wick, which'd work fine all day, but could over-saturate when kept standby.

Q, exactly my thoughts and your post was excellent and comprehensive. It confirms my belief. I have been vaping on it this morning and the gurgling disappeared after 15 - 20 minutes and no leakage. I was pretty sure it was seeping out the air hole because I was getting some liquid on the outside of my Provari. Not much, but a little. I use 70/30 and it is pretty thin. I did leave a gap above the air hole but perhaps not enough. I'll see how it is after she's on standby again. I'm using 2mm cotton wick doubled over and trimmed to the top of the surrounding segment (stuffed back in the well). 32 ga. Kanthal, 3/4 coil clocking in at 1.4 ohms.

Thanks. :)

Yay!!! My Kayfun Lite was delivered today! Also got myself a Provari ring and a 510 drip tip bender for it.

Shipped from Germany to Australia in just 3 days. Impressive!

Any preparation before I use it? Will I need to wash or boil it first? Or can I just use it straight out the box?

I can't speak to the KFL directly, but with any atty I take it all the way apart and give the parts a good wash with dish soap. Then reassemble, this insures it is clean and all the parts that are supposed to be tight are tight and ect.

I used it right out of the box and I'm still alive after 18:29:23 (hrs/mins/secs) :)

Remember, unless on a micro-coil Cotton Wicks have a tendency to over-saturate. And that multiplies when left unvaped for sometime. Your build otherwise is perfect!

That generally is a wise action. I do that too with all my attys, including mech. mods ;)

I almost always wash before putting into action as well. But I had a bad case of ants in the pants when this Kayfun showed up. I did inspect it closely and saw no oils, coolant, smudges, or fingerprints on the parts (I've been in and around machine shops my entire career so I know what it looks like). It was very clean. But as a practice, I believe all new devices should be cleaned prior to using. Who knows what hands have touched those things. :)

I just bought my first Lite and I was hoping someone on here could answer a question. I have two 3.1s (that I love) which I use with the airholes completely open. I like the airy draw (lung hits wooh).

Ive heard people say that the Lite's airhole is pretty close to a 3.1 with its airhole at its most open setting. Can anyone tell me if this is true or not? Thanks in advance!!

I can't answer your question, but I just measured the airhole on my Lite with a digital caliper and I get 1.26 mm (0.05 inches) on the airhole.
