I just looked on ........'s site... fasttech has a clone for around $13

Don't ever think about it. It's a shame of a Kayfun... clone or otherwise! It's all chrome-plated over metal(!). And whether that's brass or drain pipe even fasttech doesn't know;) Besides, the tank tubes (over the plexi) are Aluminium.

Nice pictorial Q. I find the wicks should extend to the width of the Kayfun for best results. It appears that is where yours are.

yea.. I'm thinking that the folks who are having wicking problems are not getting their wicks down far enough into the chamber to be able to reach the juice and suck it up. For so long, I had it stuck in my head that I had to keep the wicks away from the inlets so as not to block them. Once I got out of the mind set.. it's been smooth sailing

I just wanted to say how much I have enjoyed this thread over the last few months. I have learned so much and am having so much fun with my kfls! This is about the only thread I keep up with anymore. I've pretty much lost interest in my genesis attys now and I'm sad because I have some pricey stuff sitting here not being used. The kayfuns are just so easy to take out and not have to worry about keeping them upright. I remember once going on a road trip and taking 6 different devices... 5 with genesis attys on them and trying to keep them from tipping lol. One of my mechs went off in my purse (wasn't turned off) and I burned my finger getting it out but none of them ever fell over and leaked out :D

Anyway... thanks to everyone who helped me get it right (finally!) Maybe my long running mistake will help someone else who is having the same wicking problem.

I found a way to refill the KFL from the top and not have any leaks. Fill from top as per usual with a finger over the air hole, start the top threading, then flip it, tighten it down, and finally remove the screw and reinsert it as if you were filling it. It seems to create the air gap that the KFL needs to work properly.

Not trying to be a smart ..., but why? If you have a screwdriver to remove and replace the screw after you've filled, then why not just fill using the recommended method? I'm obviously missing something.

Many people can't afford the original hardware and for 13 bucks that a good alternative. Just saying I personally have no interest in any clone.

I fill mine from the top when I'm changing the wick.. only because the top is already off. But when I'm just refilling.. I remove the screw and fill it from the bottom.

I"ll probably put one of the dids in the classys this weekend. But they're not reselling like they once were.

Why do you take your top off when you're changing the wick in the K-Lite?!

Grrrrr. Tried it this morning, took my top cap off just to look at the juice level and put the cap on two turns until it touches the oring, flip it, keep tightening top cap and release the finger from the air hole and boom, flooded. I want to master this! How many turns of the top cap before flipping?

No, I'd still not suggest getting a chrome plated juice device for any one - whatever their financial constraints maybe. And not this one - b'coz of the already available, well functioning, full SS clone of the Kayfun - the Dream BT804. And at $19. Yes, I have it.

And Good Morning folks!
