Hard to say as I don't own a reo but I'd imagine it to be somewhat like my mech mod using a rda. I love my rda but it isn't very convenient especially if I'm running around or at work where it would have to stay in my pocket or laying down in my toolbox. I just can't imagine anything better than my Kayfuns for practicality as well as performance and aesthetics. One day I would like to try a reo just to see what it's like tho. Why can't you have both? :vapor:

oh there's no way i'm getting my reo. I'm just honestly getting tired of the whole "box" look and seeing all sexy kayfuns on paps and rollers makes me drool...everyone thinks its a damn iTaste MVP. haha not that its a HUGE deal but the squonking gets kinda old in my opinion.. call me lazy. I want something I can pick up and vape it instantly...and have it fight nicely in my pocket. If anyone else has any input it'd be greatly appreciated!

There's nothing wrong with having both, you make some good points but the Reo is probably the most dependable and easiest to pocket. I have both, I like both.

Something interesting. (back story) I work in the OR of my local hospital. Today I assisted the ent surgeon with ear tubes. We use sterile cotton balls (steam sterilized) to pack the ear after the tubes are put in. After tearing off a piece of the ball, I kept the rest, figuring I'd see how they worked.

I needed to rewick today anyway so I used a strip of the sterilized cotton ball. Bad taste! Hmmm.. I emptied the kfl and put another piece in.. the same bad taste! I went to the bathroom and got a cotton ball out of my cotton ball bin and put that in the kfl and my nice, rich flavor was back. I have no idea what kind of cotton balls I've been using out of my ball bin. Just plain ordinary cotton balls that were bought probably years ago.

Which Cotton Ball to use for our Wicks?

Not all commercial cotton balls are sold/offered equally. Be it 'sterile' or 'non-sterile' - these cotton balls are chemically treated and bleached* for their purification, whiteness, fluffiness and sheen. Some are done splendidly -- no or very little residue left, while some could be botched, either by design/deliberation (befitting the purpose it is sold for) or simply by carelessness/cost saving.

For our wicks it's Ok to use a good quality one from the above, which could've been treated & sold better. But that could also need some trial & error from our part. However, it is advisable to use/purchase 'Organic' Cotton Balls. Not that they are not 'treated' - they are. However, they are grown differently and handled better, which makes for a better/healthier vaping experience. I use the ones pictured below.

www.amazon.com

Honestly, I believe the cotton balls from your hospital were some of those that many have encountered here - giving foul taste. One of those produces which were of the 'deliberately' botched kind, typically the case in larger hospitals. And the one you took out from your medical cabinet were probably already the 'organic' type. Pls stick with it!

Guys I'm sorry but this really sucks right now. I'm trying this for the first time and the wick is splitting apart in my hands, I can't get the wraps straight around and there's no way I can get 10 wraps to fit in between the two posts. This isn't easy to do at all and I'm about ready to throw this thing through the wall right now. Is there any easier way to set up the wick and wire?

Can someone tell me if this vape rev video on youtube for the regular KayFun is the same way I should do it on the Lite (but with 10 wraps)? I don't see them using a drill bit anywhere so I'm not sure what I would do with that.
It's the same for Kayfun and lite. 10 wraps is a lot for a regular build. Usually ten wraps is used for microcoil set up. What resistance are you trying to achieve?

Lord Vaako, You are getting caught up in a lot of "advanced" talk and making things a heck of a lot more confusing for yourself than it needs to be.

Since you have mentioned the Vaperev video, follow what the lovely lady there does and you should be just fine.

Hold a piece of wick in your fingers, wrap 4 or 5 times & fasten to the posts.. bob's yer uncle, you're done!

Once you have the basics down, then and only then start playing in the advanced arena of micro coils etc.

I have no clue. Bronze linked me what to buy and this is what I got: 1mm wick, 30g kanthal. The wick splits apart in my hands if I tried to bring the coils together close enough to get them all to fit between the two posts. I can't stand this thing. I was told that it wasn't a hassle and it's the biggest PIA I have ever dealt with. It takes no time at all to fill a DCT and I'm done with it. This is a nightmare right now. I'm going to try again after I'm done being ...... off, but I seriously don't have time to tie a fishing fly that falls apart in my hands to vape. I hope I'm just doing something wrong here. What's the drill bit for?

Bronze was trying to teach you the wonderful world of microcoils, but I don't think you are ready for that yet. You will need a drill bit for that..

First you need to learn to build the basic coil.

I would suggest starting with around 8 inches of wick, double it, and then double it again.. That way you end up with 4mm of wick that would be approximately 2 inches in length.

Cut around 4 inches of your 30g wire, and wrap a coil as shown in the vaperev video. Yes, 4 - 5 wraps of 30g around a 4mm wick should give you a 1.5 or so ohm coil.

See if you can get that done, and report back.

Thanks for trying to help me through this. I was still trying to do what that lady was doing in that video the way she did it. I almost got there, then the post started moving on one side of the KFL (i think the positive side). It wont sit still and the wick started shredding up on me. I'm sorry but I hate this thing right now. I hate more than my ZAP and I'm doing everything I can to keep myself from using it for target practice at the range. I'm pretty sure it's going on ebay or something. This is waaay to much of a hassle. I've been at this for hours and I still don't have one built. Maybe another day but if I even look it at it right now, you might hear me in Toronto.

Wow, wow, wow!!! Time out Lord!!! Please do yourself a very, very big favor. Chill!!!!! We are not going to war. We're just building a coil. You will get through it. We all did. So will you. Microcoils are not hard to build but to the noob it will take a little effort. Once you're through it, you'll realize it is not hard and you'll wonder why you fussed so much.

Start with vapedvrr's video. He uses 26 ga but don't worry about that. It works for your 30 ga as well. Make yours ten wraps. You need something that is about 2mm in diamter to wrap your wire around. Do you have anything like that? A 5/64ths" drill bit ='s 2mm. Do you have any drill bits?

Don't worry about your wick at this point. That comes very last. Just concentrate on making your coil using VapeDvvr's method.

All I have is what you told me to buy. I have one of those needle tips that came with my zap but I have no way to test this with anything. I have no idea if I have one of those drill bits in the house somewhere and at this point, I'm already beyond ...... off at what I've spent here so I'm not going out to buy anything else. I hope that needle tip from the zap will work or this thing is history. This is way beyond what I expected. I asked how complicated this was and you guys made it seem like it was a piece of cake. I'm used to pulling a cigarette out of a pack and lighting it. This is a science project. I sincerely appreciate the help, but I have to say this is not easy for anyone who is new to this. I have to walk away from this for a while before I flip out. I can't believe I've wasted this much time right now. I have no idea how these people make it look so easy in the videos. Something must be wrong with me or they're edited.

Aw Lord...quit beating yourself up. OK?

Walk away from it for awhile and settle down. Everyone of us on this thread pulled cigarettes out of a pack and we all learned how to make our own coils. You can too and don't doubt it for a second. Once you're in that frame of mind, then pick it up again.

You simply need something to wrap your wire around. Diver used a 16ga blunt tip to do his. Others use drill bits, others use jewelers screw drivers, etc.. For the Provari, something that is 2mm in diameter is best. Next time you are out to a hardware store, get yourself a cheapy 5/64ths" drill bit. Meanwhile, PM me your address and I will send you some pre-made wick/coils so all you have to do is screw them on your KAyfun. OK?

does anyone know the specific adapter and drip tip used in this video?

Lord what your going through is completely normal! I don't know how many times I wanted to quit but stuck with it. You will get better and better each time, everyone here is here to help. Google some videos in addition to the ones posted here. Remember it doesn't have to look pretty at first, as long as it works. Don't overlap the coils but don't worry if they are spaced oddly.

Guys, you're right, I just took a break and did a little something to relieve some stress, and came back. I haven't opened Bronze's PM yet, but I promise that I will keep at this. I know that it's better once you get it to work and I'm just killing myself because I want it to work so damn bad. I've been tying fishing knots since I was 8 and I should be able to do this. When the wick started coming apart in my hands from barely any contact, that pushed me over the edge. I kept trying and trying, and it just kept falling apart. I looked at my watch and couldn't believe I had been sitting here for 2 hours and not gotten anything else done that I wanted to because of this and I also didn't even have a coil built. I get frustrated very easy and I apologize for that. This is just something that requires a lot of patience to get started with.

I also understand where you're all coming from too. It's like when I present something to a group of people at work who have had no exposure to what I have been working on for months straight. Things get left out because you forget that your audience hasn't had the exposure you've had. I would just keep in mind next time that a lot off people are vaping now and have migrated from a v2cigs style device, to filling their own cartomizers, to variable voltage, and now are looking for the next best thing as they continue to learn better things are out there. I'm not completely clueless with RBAs but there are a lot of people reading this that are. It's just not going to be as easy for someone like that.
