Guys, you're right, I just took a break and did a little something to relieve some stress, and came back. I haven't opened Bronze's PM yet, but I promise that I will keep at this. I know that it's better once you get it to work and I'm just killing myself because I want it to work so damn bad. I've been tying fishing knots since I was 8 and I should be able to do this. When the wick started coming apart in my hands from barely any contact, that pushed me over the edge. I kept trying and trying, and it just kept falling apart. I looked at my watch and couldn't believe I had been sitting here for 2 hours and not gotten anything else done that I wanted to because of this and I also didn't even have a coil built. I get frustrated very easy and I apologize for that. This is just something that requires a lot of patience to get started with.

I also understand where you're all coming from too. It's like when I present something to a group of people at work who have had no exposure to what I have been working on for months straight. Things get left out because you forget that your audience hasn't had the exposure you've had. I would just keep in mind next time that a lot off people are vaping now and have migrated from a v2cigs style device, to filling their own cartomizers, to variable voltage, and now are looking for the next best thing as they continue to learn better things are out there. I'm not completely clueless with RBAs but there are a lot of people reading this that are. It's just not going to be as easy for someone like that.

Trust me, a little patience will go a long way. Silica is tough. It does fall apart a lot that's why I switched to ekowool. But once you get that first nice coil you will jump for joy! Just like most things it's a learning process. You have to find what's easy for YOU and what WORKS FOR YOU. This thread and others have been so good to me and for me in learning different techniques and products. Just keep your head up. Everyone is here to answer questions.

For you guys using micro coils... How's the vapor production?

Like this:

This is with the chamber 'open' (and while rebuilding it; unsaturated wick). Imagine what it'd be later - when the tank is set... it's a bang;)

Aw Lord...quit beating yourself up. OK?

Walk away from it for awhile and settle down. Everyone of us on this thread pulled cigarettes out of a pack and we all learned how to make our own coils. You can too and don't doubt it for a second. Once you're in that frame of mind, then pick it up again.

You simply need something to wrap your wire around. Diver used a 16ga blunt tip to do his. Others use drill bits, others use jewelers screw drivers, etc.. For the Provari, something that is 2mm in diameter is best. Next time you are out to a hardware store, get yourself a cheapy 5/64ths" drill bit. Meanwhile, PM me your address and I will send you some pre-made wick/coils so all you have to do is screw them on your KAyfun. OK?

I use a toothpick :)

As Scott would say "As you can see, you're getting plenty of vapor...." (while waving his hand in front of his face)

I get a bit more vapor out of my DID with a micro/cotton setup but I get a more intense flavor out of the same setup in my kfl.

I know this isn't kayfun related but I'm so excited! I am off work (vacation) for the next 9 days!! My son and I are taking our camper to Asheville next week. We'll be camping beside the French Broad river. My daughter goes to the university there and we'll get to spend time with her. I put my Fogger V2 up for sale (I like it but I like the kfl much better) and the person who wants it just happens to be going to Asheville next week too.. so if he/she's serious about buying it, we'll meet up there (I get to meet another vaper)

I've finally decided to put one of my beloved provari's up for trade for a Reo Grand. I had a VV woodvil when they first came out but I didn't like the smell of the varnish on the wood so I sold it. So I'm also excited about the possibility of trying out a Reo with a RM2 (micro/cotton)

I don't really have any other vaping enthusiasts in my 3-D world to share my vape related news with so you guys are it LOL

To keep on topic... my kfl's are going camping with me

I just PM'd Bronze and he can share more details as the dog needs to go out so I have to be short. The video of the girl is waaay harder than the wrap around method. When I saw that and tried it, I got one made no problem. It wasn't super quick, but now that I made one it will be. Only problem is that I thought he had the same size needle tip that I had (it came with the Zap). Mine was too tiny to fit the silica. I could only fit one strand through wet. Would that size of a hole be too small to try cotton? I wish I had tried the wrap around method first with a needle tip that size - 16 gauge. I was very close to going 12 gauge trying to wrap it holding the silica.

The kayfun is def not for newer users.

Get a few drippers and use them for a couple months.

Take your time.

I used boge cartos for 2 years before I started using things I wasn't used to.

I tried a boat load of things in that time, but I always had a carto on an ego/ Roughstack.

Its not a race.

Good luck!

Use a tooth pick like q-daddy said.

And I'd tell him to use a toothpick too except toothpicks come in a wide variety of diameters. I have one in my junk box I just measured and it is 2.4mm. If I squeeze the caliper hard enough, I get it to 2.1mm. :)

Yeah but if the guy is about to blow his top looking for a 2mm drill bit, its close enough.lol

I'm an old welder; so I use a piece of 1/16 ss tig wire. It slides in and out of the coil nicely.

I need an honest opinion. I have a reo grand with a reomizer and I've really been looking to get a kayfun lite... I absolutely love they're look and I'm kinda missing the tube mod look. I love my reo but can anyone honestly tell me if I pick up a kayfun if I'll be disappointed going to that from my reo with a microcoil and cotton? I plan on micro coils on the Kay fun.

the main difference between the reo and the kayfun, except for the form factor of course, it that the kayfun is designed to auto feed the coil with fluid in use, much like the majority of delivery systems out there attempt to do with varying degrees of success, where the reo doesn't make any attempt at auto feeding the coil at all, it instead allows you to manually fully saturate the coil for each hit like a dripper, but instead of dripping you squeeze the bottle to feed and when you release it sucks back the excess. the reo's are highly regarded because, although there is nothing automatic about it, it does allow you to manually get the right delivery for each hit which is rarely the case with most auto feed designs

out of all the various types of auto delivery systems out there, the biggest problems with them can be boiled down to 3 main things:

1) under delivery of fluid (dry hits, burnt taste)
2) over delivery of fluid (flooding and bad vape)
3) leaking of fluid (#2 can also cause this too)

the kayfun type auto delivery method is well regarded and highly praised as one of the best auto delivery methods out there, and as long as it's wicked properly it does for the most part deliver on it's promise of being a very good auto delivery system, but there is a fine line between too much fluid delivery and not enough fluid delivery and this is where the tinkering and trial and error part comes into play. once you get your wicking and your draw and your power level right it can give a really great vape but it does help to understand how these variables affect the delivery and by understanding you can then adjust/compensate if you wind up with too dry hits or excess flooding. the kayfun is not foolproof but it is also well designed in that it normally can achieve really great results if you simply build it as intended in most cases and also realize that your draw is what is causing the tank to surge up and feed the wick. it is not as idiot proof as a reo can be but it is also not rocket science, and the potential for setting it up to give a really good auto feeding vape is very high as long as you have a little patience and desire

I have both, along with many other types of delivery method devices too and personally I usually carry just a reo and a kayfun when I'm out and about. they are different but they can both be very good

auto feed VS manual feed. that's the main difference
