Good job Lord. Try using a thick rubber band instead of pliers.
I need an honest opinion. I have a reo grand with a reomizer and I've really been looking to get a kayfun lite... I absolutely love they're look and I'm kinda missing the tube mod look. I love my reo but can anyone honestly tell me if I pick up a kayfun if I'll be disappointed going to that from my reo with a microcoil and cotton? I plan on micro coils on the Kay fun.
Just wanted to give you guys all a HUGE THANK YOU! I sincerely appreciate you helping me and dealing with my frustrations earlier.
I'm vaping away on this blue LED bad boy, but his new green LED baby brother got jealous so I thought I'd share a photo.

Once I saw Bronze's video of the guy's method of pre-coiling on a syringe (or something else), I built a 10 wrap micro coil on my first try ever building a coil like this. I built a few on the zap but those don't really count.
The other thing that probably made this a lot harder was that I couldn't get my outer casing (or stack) off. It's the one that screw onto the deck. I was able to get the inside stack out, but I'll have to try using pliers and a towel when I'm out of juice.
For noobs to RBA's (like me), I would definitely point them to that video Bronze linked and not the girl (she using a regular Kayfun with silica). A micro coil is not hard at all if you use a 16g syringe, since it has the base you can take advantage of to keep it tight. I would just tell them that if they're using silica, to cut it shorter so it just hits the deck. If you try to get into the grooves like he does with the cotton but keep it 1/4-1/3" above the inner stack (like the girl), you won't be able to screw on the inner stack cleanly. I guess having one good video for silica on an actual KFL would be the best teaching tool. Unfortunately on my first run at this, I followed the girl's advice before having a chance to see Bronze's PMs - so my wick ends are a little longer than what's optimal. It's still kicking ... though - better than it was at first.
Bronze I crown you The Man...you're the best. I hope I can help someone down the road like you helped me.
Has anyone made a micro coil with Twisted 32g wire? Would that even work?!
I'm getting fidgety and may have to take apart one of my working builds..
Dang it I just finished recoiling one of my kayfuns lol. I may have to try this next as I have some 32ga collecting dust.Has anyone made a micro coil with Twisted 32g wire? Would that even work?!

I'm going to re-do my wicks tonight. I think I'm over-wicking.... never had even a drop of leaking on my original builds but on both have a little (very very small) leaks and I did them exactly the same. a) Might have a little too much Nextel b) Didn't remember to move them over to the juice channel before putting on chimney.
Now let me just way....they are vaping great and I haven't done anything except wipe a couple of drops off at the end of the day so I've got to be close![]()
the main difference between the reo and the kayfun, except for the form factor of course, it that the kayfun is designed to auto feed the coil with fluid in use, much like the majority of delivery systems out there attempt to do with varying degrees of success, where the reo doesn't make any attempt at auto feeding the coil at all, it instead allows you to manually fully saturate the coil for each hit like a dripper, but instead of dripping you squeeze the bottle to feed and when you release it sucks back the excess. the reo's are highly regarded because, although there is nothing automatic about it, it does allow you to manually get the right delivery for each hit which is rarely the case with most auto feed designs
out of all the various types of auto delivery systems out there, the biggest problems with them can be boiled down to 3 main things:
1) under delivery of fluid (dry hits, burnt taste)
2) over delivery of fluid (flooding and bad vape)
3) leaking of fluid (#2 can also cause this too)
the kayfun type auto delivery method is well regarded and highly praised as one of the best auto delivery methods out there, and as long as it's wicked properly it does for the most part deliver on it's promise of being a very good auto delivery system, but there is a fine line between too much fluid delivery and not enough fluid delivery and this is where the tinkering and trial and error part comes into play. once you get your wicking and your draw and your power level right it can give a really great vape but it does help to understand how these variables affect the delivery and by understanding you can then adjust/compensate if you wind up with too dry hits or excess flooding. the kayfun is not foolproof but it is also well designed in that it normally can achieve really great results if you simply build it as intended in most cases and also realize that your draw is what is causing the tank to surge up and feed the wick. it is not as idiot proof as a reo can be but it is also not rocket science, and the potential for setting it up to give a really good auto feeding vape is very high as long as you have a little patience and desire
I have both, along with many other types of delivery method devices too and personally I usually carry just a reo and a kayfun when I'm out and about. they are different but they can both be very good
auto feed VS manual feed. that's the main difference

Lord, that video was from our very own vapdvvr (see two posts below yours). Give him a nod for putting the vid together. He put a lot of thought into it. I would urge you to look at others as well. Each vid brings a new perspective on coil building (but no one can beat vapedvvr's groovy background tunes). Here's another one...(he uses cotton but watch it for the coil build)
I just want to say thanks, for all the helpful posts, in this thread. I just finished reading everything up till now. I have had my Kayfun lite for about 3 or 4 weeks now, I am using it on a provari, at the moment. I have a coil built with 32 ga Kanthal, I used a 1/16" wire to twist it, its kind of high ohms for some of the people here, but I got a 2.5 ohm coil, using a cotton wick.
This is the first time I have used cotton before, I had a few problems with taste, with the eko wool and the silica, even after boiling, I still don't know why, I still will try again at some point, but not while this is working so well. I am going to get some 30 ga kanthal tomorrow so I can try a build like Bronze does, my coil goes across the deck currently, I just liked the way that coil pattern looked, most of the coils, I like to build are between 2.0 and 2.5 ohm, that is just what I am used to, it will be nice to try a thicker wire to work with.
Thanks again for all the helpful posts.
Yep, we claim him as ours.Oh wow, I didn't know that was the same guy! Yeah he's definitely very good with that video. I probably would have shredded 25ft of wick by now if it wasn't for you both.

Watch the other vid I posted. It helps to see more than one vid. Trust me!

Good luck. Keep us posted. Use vapedvvr's vid and the one I posted above. The build concepts are the same but the Provari works best with 30 ga, 10-wraps, 2mm inside diameter. It yields 1.7 - 2.0 ohm. I've tried 28 ga at 1.3 ohms and it's not as good. The Provari likes it in the high 1's.

Vapedvvr's vids are great, I have watched every one of them, and I had all ready read your review of the 28 ga that's why I why to try the 30 ga, plus I want to try to get the silica working for me, I would like to be able to dry burn and vape on.
