I finally built a new coil today using a 5/64" drill bit with 30 ga wire, I tried 9 wraps, and got a 2 ohm coil, which is perfect for me. I did try some 2mm silica first, it just was too loose, so I tried 1mm eko wool doubled up and it fit in nicely, not to tight, not to loose. I seem to have the same problem with the silica type wick, that many have had with it wicking correctly, so I just pulled it out and put cotton back in, and it works great. I could have kept using my old coil, but I wanted to try the 30 ga wire. I guess I just wont worry about the silica wick, for now sense the cotton works so good, and its not hard to do. :)

Im just loving my Kayfun lite and was wondering if anyone can give me some tips. So far Ive tried the micro coil set up with cotton. It was sent to me with 24 gauge kanthal coils and cotton which was amazing. Of course being a heavy vaper I gunked up the coils and had to remove the cotton and dry burn. I dont have cotton for proper vaping use, so I set it up with the only ekowool I had at the time which was 1mm hollow ekowool and 30 gauge kanthal, first try was horrible, I blocked the air and ......

Second build I got the length right and it going great, a bit , just a tad gurgly, but not flooding. I think the wicks are on the thin side. So now I did get some 2mm ekowool and was going to try a different set up. I threaded some Ekowool that has come unbraided but not flaky thru the microcoil and it has some slippage, similar to when you use cotton. I will cut off the length to make sure they fit but not clog.

Has anyone done this? My tank is almost empty and will try it out. Was just interested if this has been done with good results.
I hope Im not headed for disaster, but heck everything we do now was a potential disaster till someone tried it.

thats good to know, I was thinking of using up all my pill bottle cotton, but thought what if the chemicals from the drugs might be a problem, but doh, forgot about the boiling.

I will look for some cotton right now. I will try the wick with the fluffy ekowool and if its a no go, I will have some cotton.

thanks for the suggestion.

LOL, saving cotton for no apparent reason, maybe you have some "hamster" in you:)

I am happy to report that I made it home from my camping trip with no burnt fingers this time! It's lots of fun rewicking a kayfun in a popup camper

I made a trade on the classys and met the fellow at the campground to pick up his fogger. what a great time I had talking to a fellow vaper! I also visited a couple vape shops. Asheville Vapor is nice, the guy was very nice. They had some nice mods at the typical huge B&M prices. I also visited Dark City Vapor in Blackmountain (NC) I have been making my own juices for um..2 years now and this is the first time I've bought juice... his banana pudding is awesome! Tastes just like taking a bite of banana pudding! The cake batter was very good also. I bought some of the banana pudding. .50 per ml which is a good price for store bought juice. He also carries the Fogger V2 for an unheard of B&M price of $30!

So if anyone is up in Western North Carolina and in the Asheville area..be sure to visit them. They're in the process of making a vape lounge.

About $3 at CVS, should last a very loooog time. You might be finding Rayon in those pill bottles, not to worry though it's a good for wicks too.

It seems like you are not burning your cotton but getting dry hits witch may taste like burning and if they are bad enough they WILL end up burning your cotton and messing it up until you re-wick it. If it comes and goes you are getting an occasional dry hits. To fix this do three things:

1. Make sure that your cotton is not rolled up super tight. It needs to be fluffy on the tails, the fluff that you lay over the deck should be about as tall as the terminal posts.
2. Make sure the bit of cotton that is actually inside your coil wraps isn't overly tight. If you have to twist at it to much to force it through its to much. I feed mine by twisting on it as I pull it through but once its through I'm able to pull it back and forth with some resistance. This is the trickiest part and you'll get it with practice. I can't be so tight that just pulling on it will move the coil around but it can't be so loose that you can just pull the cotton out without moving the coil. There needs to be some resistance to it enough so that you can pull on the cotton gently and that it feels tight but not stuck to the coil wraps.
3. Lay the cotton tail puffs over the entire deck, don't be afraid of covering the juice channels, just make sure they don't get plugged shut when you screw the chamber in. There HAS to be cotton over the juice channels to catch the juice as it tries to enter the chamber. If you don't you'll keep vaping until the cotton dries out a little and you get a dry it with burned flavor. A properly laid cotton tail will keep the entire cotton wick nice and juicy at all times.

Also note that blackened cotton does not necessarily mean burnt cotton. My cotton wicks look black and tarnished after a few days of use. With some flavorings it looks encrusted in black gunk, with some its only right around the coils. This does NOT matter one bit. If it tastes good, keep vaping on it. I only change my wick when I notice that he flavor is off, usually about 5 - 6 tank fills with the juices I've used the most or if I change flavors of course.

Finally you don't need a syringe to empty our your tank if you need to work with the coils. The usual plastic nipple tip on most bottles seals right up on the screw hole of the fill port. I just take out my screw, keep the device with the fill port facing up, grab my juice bottle and squeeze the air out of it, press it against the hole, flip the device while keeping pressure between the bottle and the fill port and start letting the bottle expand sucking your juice out of the tank. Usually 2 or 3 tries of this will get 95% of my juice out of the tank. Then I set the tank over some paper towels, wipe the base, chamber and chimney with some paper towels, open it up, fix it, put it back together and put my juice back in.

This guy knows his sheet^^^

No glass comes stock, but you can always run the SS middle section to avoid damages from tank killers.

Ah, cool. I was looking at the fasttech stocked clone to keep the price down and I hadn't seen a SS middle section; just a removable acrylic section.

FYI..that is not a "clone", it is a "counterfeit". Folks are getting confused these days with verbage, and what constitutes a clone vs a counterfeit. The Russian 91% would be classified as a clone, since it bears it's own markings and design changes. The ones carried at FastTech are counterfeits, because they bear the original markings of the manufacturer and are exact copies of the original designs.
