Careful, we have two different conversations going here. My last email was in reference to baps groove job. Y'all are talking about coil/airhole clearance. Keep 'em straight.

1/16th height would be a good starting point. you want the air to hit the coil and then wrap around both sides of the coil as it draws the air up, so the airflow is like this: Y
too close and the airflow doesn't really give the best vape takeoff from the coil
Sounds too wide bap. I'd look into a 1/16"
Decided to forgo Cloud 9 for my KFL + based on the shipping delay that others have experienced... Got it from intaste.de in stock... and a bit less coin than cloud9 as well... we shall see.
hard to say really, theres a fine line between saturated enough vs too dry. if I'm ever in doubt I'd tend to give a primer puff sometimes even pushing it towards flooding, then blow it out to clear and try then. if it's running a bit on the dry side flavor will suffer, best way for me to make sure is to push it the other way, towards oversaturated to see... if you get to the point it's def oversaturated and still getting the same then at least you confirm it's not running too dry
I just googled an image of the aqua and man those channels are much larger than the kayfun. on mine I only opened the vertical channel a little and it increased the feed to the point that I now stuff a little extra puff of cotton in each side and that slows the flow down to great but I don't think it's enough to wick through after seeing a pic of the aqua. might suggest trying it like mine just opening it a little at first, then, if you want to go full bore you can always go more. going too much it will be hard to go back.
mine is working really well, I've only flooded it a few times and that's mostly because of bad habits I picked up using it stock. for example if I feel it's running a little dry I can't do a big hard pull to squonk it like I used to, it'll just pull too much fluid but getting used to it now and it's easy to manage... when I feel it get a little oversaturated I just fire a bit longer and it burns off the excess, if I feel it's a little on the dry side then I only have to increase my draw slightly to get back to saturated.
then again if you do go full bore and it works great you may make me want to try that next, but right now I think I'm very happy with it
bap, my thinking is that the wick will fill the passages for the most part, but the vacuum will still pull right through the wick. not sure how that affects flow back though as far as replacing juice extracted with air, don't know if it'll do that through the wick, maybe like you said it'll just pull air back along side the wick? does the aqua have any other differences that affect juice control? thought I heard mention of juice flow control somewhere?

would it be possible i don't have enough cotton or something? i have the cotton just so it touches the deck and is clear of the channels
