Dang ceejay, that coil is plenty high...perhaps too high. Mine is nowhere near that high and mine vapes like a freight train. Yes, try a little more cotton. Make it the width of the overall kayfun itself. then stuff it down the sides. That's all I ever do and it works just fine. Most folks get fancy with it and lay it nicely on its sides crossing the channel, etc., etc... I just stuff it down there. I swear I'm just one lucky SOB

Yea never seen or done a coil that high before LOL

Was just following a suggestion to get it 1.5-2 mm above the air hole. Tried fitting a 1.5mm drill bit between, and it couldn't fit. Didn't seem right to raise it up even more.

ceejay, you definitely shouldn't have to go set your coil that high; 1 -1.5mm should be fine. Cotton wick is where the trick lies... Some folks insert a lot, while others, suggest the a little cotton goes long ways... so, as long as your micro coil has integrity, you should be rolling. Unfortunately, as we all know, the KF family is not known for big clouds and juice taste nirvana... Anyway, just keep on with it and keep us posted.

I am with you in this fight! lol

(own the KFL, TFgt, Russian and waiting on KFL+ from C9V)

yeah I never really measured it but just did tonight and it's right around 1mm , sorry man but yours just looked so low and I really thought I was above 1mm high, 1.5-2mm is way too high now that I actually measure it. here's a pic of mine

I measured my channels tonight. I'm not using anything super precise to measure. I just opened my calipers and lined up one tip inside edge and other tip out outer edge of thread, was more interested in a point of reference than a precise measurement. showed ~.030" before I touched it, I measure it now at ~.035" so I only took away ~.005", five thousandth's of an inch. if I guess that around .005" is lost to thread depth loss in this measurement then this means I increased the orifice by roughly 20% give or take

ha, as far as being one lucky sob you're right, but the lucky part is that you happen to vape at very low wattage. the kayfun has no trouble keeping up with those wicking demands so as long as you do a reasonable build it's gonna work as intended. I think many problems come in when trying to vape it more intensely, then it becomes easier to vape off more than you take in at times and it starts to get dry. my kayfun worked great at 9 watts but I've gotten used to a more intense vape and find it lacking at low wattage compared to what I'm used to

There is some truth to that turbo. I'm a low-watt vapor so I'm not laying a ton of heat on my coil. But I do chain vape and I keep that Kayfun plenty warm.

Where'd you get your Neme clone?

Vape Royalty. The dude over at VapeRoyalty changed somethings on his site and I couldn't order for Puerto Rico with the site changes. The owner is Puerto Rican as well and we've exchanged quite a few e-mails back and forth and he took an extra day with all his rush to process the order for me through PayPal and he sent it on my way. It'll get here tomorrow so no worries there.

Can't wait to play with the 28awg Kanthal and the Kick2 though so I'll be happy as pie until it arrives so I can finally say I own two proper mods.

I was lookig at the Vape Royalty site. They do a real nice job explaining their products. I'm not sure why the difficulty going to PR. You're practically the 51st state.

Does your lock ring have reverse threads? If this is your second Neme you must like it. Also, do you use protected or unprotected batteries in your Neme?

Locking ring does not have reverse threads. Using EFest IMR batteries in my current one. I really like it. The switch is tricky to get right but since everything is pretty adjustable I already know how to set it up with my different sized EFests so that it doesn't catch on the main battery tube preventing it from depressing completely and making contact with the battery. Its even more adjustable now that I got the Fusions Mods hybrid adapter. With the hybrid adapter I can adjust the alen set screw on the delrin spacer to make the switch work with only a millimeter or less of movement, making it almost a touch button. I don't see any reason to get any other mod really. Adding a Kick2 to it will basically make it a DNA-20 powered device that can only go to 15 watts but I don't see myself needing more than that. I use the multimeter and a TankO'Meter for everything else, having the screen with info and buttons seems like a plus but the only DNA-20 device I like the looks of is the upcoming Futura DNA-20 but its freakishly expensive for something I'd carry around all day and even then the main tube is 23mm. I just love how the KFL sits on this Neme Clone with the hybrid adapter, it looks damn sexy and the finish between the KFL and the Neme Clone is exactly alike.

EDIT: The first one I ordered was fine right off the site's shopping cart. He explained he had some fraud issues and had to change the backend of his shopping cart and one of the bugs this change caused is that it isn't allowing shipping to PR. Hes working on getting it fixed but again, the owner is nice as hell and set up the order manually and received my payment through PayPal.

I did a screen grab of the deck and then brought it into my cad software and scaled it to size. I came up with 2mm air holes and 3mm grooves.

I found a higher res photo and remeasured.....looks like the slots/grooves are ~2.5mm and the air holes are ~1.5-1.6mm

When I measured with the first photo I couldn't tell that the holes are beveled so I was measuring to the outside of the bevels.

Bap, perhaps calculating area would be a better measurement??

Just got my Kayfun Lite + in the mail. Sadly only 3 of the 7 packages I have in transit arrived, those where my Big Willie's Custard order, my Mt Baker order and the KFL+. For the record I got it from VapeRev and they sent a baggie of spares.

First of all here is a curious little detail that I didn't see anywhere else regarding the KFL+:

2qyp.jpg

There are screw holes like that on both sides of the positive terminal post! This will likely come in handy for dual coil builds!

Just finished putting the same build in it as I have in my KFL (1.6ohm 30awg 8 wrap 1.5mm ID vertical coil touching the air hole) so that I could compare them head to head. With the air control opened up all the way (until the head of the screw is flush with the base) I feel the draw is identical to the standard KFL. Its only when I unscrew it further that I get an airier draw. Luckily with the Fusions Mods hybrid adapter I can expose a thread or two of the air control set screw and then pin it down with the adapter if I want an airier draw. One nice thing I noticed is that if I tighten the air control a bit I get a pretty noticeable flavor boost from the vape witch is nice for when I want flavor over vapor volume.

Another thing of note is that I can still use the nipple tip on my bottles to fill it up with the new deeper fill hole but not without a little leakage from around the nipple because the nipple goes in so far that the edge of the bottle's mouth rests on the 510 connection forcing the bottle to be a little sideways. Haven't tried to empty it yet with the same bottle squeeze method I've been using on the KFL just yet, I suspect it should work alright unless the nipple isn't making a full seal on the inside of the fill hole. If it isn't I suspect I might make a pretty bad mess trying to empty it this same way. I might have to get some blunt tip bottle caps for this. Oh well..

And my final note is that, judging from pictures I was thinking the base ring was a bit taller than the standard KFL by maybe 1mm or 2mm making the whole thing taller. To my relief this is not the case. The base ring is exactly the same height so the entire device is identical in every other way.

Frankly I'm not sure if I like it more than the standard KFL, I never had a leakage problem with the fill hole on the KFL and I liked that beveled screw hole to use with my bottle nipples, that one is a bit of a downer for me. And the whole air control I see myself just leaving it wide open for the most part.

Re: The air adjustment. That's kinda what I figured with the KfL+. It's why I didn't get too excited about it. For me, the original Lite draw is about right.

I'm kind of surprised they didn't have the current KFL draw be equivalent to the middle draw of the Plus. One of the more common complaints of the KFL has been that it is too airy.

I think that taking a file to the set screw and making it 1.5mm shorter would make the adjustment far more worthwhile as you could go airier than the KFL and tighter not just tighter in comparison.
