I got mine from vaperev and can confirm that it does spin a bit but does not rattle at all. There is zero gap but it is very "cone" like as it seems to taper more than I'd like. It is even more pronounced since I got my M-tank on it last week. I will probably be getting a Loki ring as it looks to be better in that respect. On a side note I love my M-tank. :vapor:

cotton wicks are kicking my ... lately. im trying to make a very simple setup 1/16 diameter micro with 9 or 10 wraps and a cotton wick.
every time i make a wick it is either too thin to feed juice adequately or it is so thick it burns. i have a 6 inch tall pile on my floor of wasted CVS sterile rolled cotton.
does anyone know if there is a video of how to find a spot on the roll to grab your cotton from and specifically how to manipulate it to make a wick??????? i need to vape! i have been at this for days. i am using 29 guage kanthal a-1 but i have 28 and 27awg coming and hoep that helps me not burn cotton.

what m noticing after building yet another new coil and wick while watch vapdivrr's video a few times is that CVS rolled cotton doesnt seem to have a grain" it is just matted. and it is very hard to roll a wick that is the same density and width throughout its length....
maybe a video ABOUT rolling wicks??? anyone?
i know a lot of people are having great success with the sterile rolled cotton so what gives?

Hmmmm not too sure about a video of that. Generally I try not to roll it at all and maybe just roll one end that is getting inserted into the coil. It should go on there a bit snug but not too tight. Too loose and it won't wick fast enough when you chain vape or take big hits. I also use CVS sterile cotton balls but never really tried rolling it. I also like the wicking of 5/64 coils over 1/16 coils as I need that extra juice capacity of a thicker wick.

Thanks Paul and Dragon. I really liked Q's post (saw that earlier Paul) but I know many people have complained about their rings either leaving a gap or spinning/rattling. Q id not directly address this in that post but might have later in the thread and I did not see it. I don't have these problems as I got mine from Dusty. But I know some people have said they have no gaps or spin/rattles and just wondering who offers them. Lemme know on the GR Modders Dragon (though it might be moot by the time you get it).
Thanks again.

I have three of them as of now ~ and none rattle or spin. They seem to hug the Provari's fascia as all of them are tapered internally - but uniform OD externally.

1- Loki polished steel ring; 2- Loki black delrin ring; 3- GR-Modders' Kir Fanis ring

Except for the black ring none leave any gap as well and sit flush with the Provari's colored body. The black just throws in a thin hairline below - which incidentally I'm liking b'coz it brings a bling effect.

Ps.:
~I've not chosen any ring that adds length b'coz of obvious reasons (thus, no Hippo v2, IBT-Pro etc.).
~I've not chosen any 'tapering' ring as well, b'coz I hate Provari's taper top anyway.

I'll bet that would suck...I'll bet you also carry a ton of juice and batteries...and a pass-thru or two

I think I boiled about 20 ft, cut up into about foot long pieces...looked like spaghetti for supper...

Lol. Yeah, I've got three mechs and a ton of juice and batteries just in case. Ordering a back up charger payday. Kinda hard to find a vape store with big rig parking so I have to plan for the worst.

I think you nailed it.....I have the same issues with the rolled cotton....pics of the cotton ball media have strands and looks like the best material.....

i think vapdivrr's video sent me on the right track for making a good wick. i made a wick as close as i could to the same amount of cotton that he showed being pulled through the micro, but it still took a bit of rolling to get the wick small enough to fit 1/16. i get some popping about half a second into my hit as i lose juice and it gets hot a like 7watts. maybe trying the cvs sterile balls instead of the huge roll will get me better quality of "grain" to allow pulling through the coil without first rolling the piss out of it.... also i may have to return to using 5/64 bits to make micros since i cant feed juice to true micros.

thank you so much for you fast and helpful responses to my problem guys... you got me back vaping until i can nail this wicking issue.

This is my experience with the difference between CVS sterile rolled cotton and organic cotton balls.. ymmv

The organic cotton is softer and fluffier, and has much longer fibers. Rolled cotton is matted like you said with small fibers, less soft, and full of dingleberries (technical term). Rolled cotton I roll into a tight wick and it works great. Organic cotton I don't roll, just kind of press into shape and thread it through, leaving it fluffy. For some reason rolled cotton can be rolled dense and wick well but with organic it doesn't wick well when rolled tight.

Organic cotton balls I find a little easier to work with; rolled cotton is a little more durable and tastes a little better for me. For all of that though, I'm talking very little preference.. they both are easy to work with (with practice) and offer great flavor. So far my preference is the sterile rolled.. it's what I mainly use, but they both work so well it's sometimes a matter of which is closer to reach for when making a wick lol.

Here's a pic.. the top is about how much sterile rolled cotton I pick off and below is what it looks like after I roll it to make it dense.

What coil diameter are you pulling that wick through? I think my most successful micro wick thus far was about 5 times thinner than that. And it seems that if I make a dense wick out of rolled cvs, there is no room for juice and I get hot cottony hits with no vapor.
Hmmm.., I'll have to make the slightest bit larger coils and keep making wicks with only enough cotton to make it round.

Standard micro size, about 1/16 inch.

For the rolled cotton, I make the wick small enough to slide through the coil with zero resistance, so the wick is actually a little smaller than the coil.. it expands and makes proper contact when wet. If it's too big, it'll choke and get the cottony taste you mention.

While we are talking about provari kayfun rings, does anyone know if the svoemesto pv cone is tapered or not? The one I got from vaperev is vertical sided and has a grooved finish(horizontal lines). The one pictured with the item description looks like it is tapered with a nice brushed(kayfun looking) finish. ... vaperev. I'm calling them now.....
