Went to Walmart and bought the mother mag polish and Terry towels and I'd like to say THANKS. After a few coats of polish and rubbing the chimney was just as new and even shinier! It even helped put the finalize shine of stainless steel to my refinish work on my Russian 91. Fantastic.

I'm very glad it worked for you. I think that stuff's magic, and sometimes a terry towel is all the "grit" you need.

lots of good info here,.. my insulator burnt and was giving me a terrible plastic taste like a pro tank would.

about 200 pages back someone used a credit card cut up to make a quick fix, tried it and it works good.

I've messed up a ton trying to act smart or creative (aka being stupid) with my kfl, and even I haven't burnt my insulator.

Having said that, given my track record I'm sure it's gonna happen some time down the road and I'm glad you brought this up. :D

funny ... but still dont really like Ekowool ... it has the OWN taste

do you boil your ekowool?

The Ekowool I bought had a label on the package to boil thoroughly before using..which I did.

Here's my latest wicking method, pretty much self explanatory.
1.5mm 12 wrap 28g a Nichrome…1.3ohm, The Nichrome has a little less resistance than Kanthal, requiring 12 wraps vs 8 with Kanthal to reach the same 1.2-1.3 rating, I wanted a little more coil surface area, we'll see how it performs when fully broken in…so far so good though.

I actually came up with this build about a week and a half ago. This is what I've been using in my last 10 or so builds. Doesn't affect the draw at all. Vapor production was the best for me compared to previous truman builds as well as flavor. It also seems to take less time to ramp up.

I also tried the carto-style build twice but it's not for me. Flavor is great but vapor prod was too low.
So for me for now the truman builds are still the best.

edit: ok, made a mistake. my build is slightly different. I use 2 pieces of cotton. Instead of looping the strand that goes thru the coil on the base and back up on top and over the coil I just use another separate wick to accomplish the same thing. My thinking was that it took less wick to do this and less folds in the wick so maybe that would help with the wicking process somehow.

Now I'm confused again. So one end forms a loop at the Side deck and stays at the side deck, but only the other end loops at the other side deck + sit over the coil?

All the other explanations say to loop both ends on top of the coils :(
