If that is a cotton wick, looks a bit much. Have you tried a little less cotton? I have mine set up 30g kanthal 8 wraps on a 1/16 drill bit. Cotton wicks, just touching the floor, over the fluid channels.

Also you might want to raise your coil. Mine is level with the screws, like 1.5-2mm over the air hole on the deck.
Here is a pic of a kayfun, clear tank for wicking n coil education. See the coil over the screws & wick sitting at the fluid channels. OK, to dark @ wick ends...

Hi Doc Drake, I agree with what crss just wrote. Your coils are plugged up with too much cotton. I'm pretty sure you will get better results with a smaller drill bit and less cotton. Try a smaller drill bit - 5/64" (1.95 mm) instead of 3/32" (2.35 mm). Use just enough cotton to fill the coil with no spaces between the wick and coil. Here's a pic of good working coil and wick.

You need about 1/2 that.. Some would say even less. ;)

I've been Vaping for alil over 6 weeks and building for about 5 weeks. It took me a week or two to get it through my head that less is more when it comes to cotton wicks.

Now would use less than half if that in the pic . More if I do a chimney coil, which is what I now exclusively use on my KFLv2

Some clear pix of coil height & wick.

Cotton expands with juice, to much cotton and.... euuuu burnt taste & dry hits.

I've often wanted to get a clear Kayfun kit so I could see the level of juice in the inside chamber. Thanks for those pics! If I'm seeing right, your juice level is nearly above the coil, which surprises me. Is that a normal level or is the chamber flooded?

Yep.... not my idea of a fun afternoon to tear down the Kayfun every time you want to fiddle with the wick....lol

And that is why you have 5 of them...or at least 3. Fine, 2...but not less than 2!

There is no juice in the tank. It was GVC, but empty now =O

Now that I've placed my coil too high on my Black edition and am getting good flavor and vapor without dry hits or leaking, I'm confused why I'm having to replace the wick after 2 tank fulls. It's an almost clear e-liquid, MBV hawk sauce and a higher resistance coil, 1.4 ohm. Yet the flavor drops off about halfway through the second tank full and the wick is a very dark brown. The whole wick, even the ends down on the deck by the juice channels. There isn't any black on the wick, not even under the coil, just very dark brown. Should I try silica? Or? I'm just surprised since people here use much lower ohm coils and talk about cotton lasting much longer than I'm getting with my setup.

Maybe you should try some XC-116
