ah college in St. Louis. 3 am, drunk, I'll take a 20 sack and 2 fries please. I love White Castle. Unfortunately none to be found here in Iowa :(. There is a radio station morning crew out of the Quad Cities who does a once a year voyage to Chicago to get White Castle lol.

You can get a passable one in your grocer's freezer I hear!

Mmmmmmm bacon. Now I'm hungry, dangit Soignee, all I have is microwave White Castle burgers that should scare you as a chef. :p

You had to bring up White Castle! I read this post this morning and it got me craving them. I had to stop by and grab a few on the way to the grocery. They were delicious!

I grew up in rural central Illinois and every time we went to Chicago, St Louis, or Indpls we always ate White Castles. Now I live in Indy 5 minutes from one and never eat there. If you dine on those very often they will wreck you.

That's fair...I bet many of the US folks have never had a bacon sarnie either. ;)
Part of the British diet! :D
Seriously, we use a bakery malted wholegrain crusty loaf to slice fresh and lean bacon - love those sarnies! Sometimes it's a BLT (bacon, lettuce & tomato) ..guess that would be good for lunch tomorrow ;)
...too much to hope for at suppertime!

So very true! I've had dinner, but this talk of delicious bacon is making me awfully peckish! :(

What's up with US bacon? I though bacon was bacon

British style bacon (or rashers as it is called) is salt cured as to where American bacon is salted and wood smoked. They are also from two different cuts of meat.

Most Americans don't have an idea what a breakfast bap is either. Nothing like a good bap with the eggs, hash browns, sausages, rashers and black and white pudding in the morning after a heavy rattle out on the town the night before.

Speaking of black and white pudding, that reminds me that I have both in the freezer.

Me thinks it's about time for a good fry! :p

Never had a white castle

Hello ChrisBBacon! Welcome -- I love your name and hope you stick around! (Too bad the middle initial is not "P.")

White Castle sounds SO good -- until about an hour after you have eaten it. UGGGGGH! :nah::nah::nah:
It's been a few years since my last visit ...... still too soon to go back!
