Thanks! Ordered a Kick today and picked up an AW IMR 18490 1100mah at the grand opening of the Vapor Kings here in Sapulpa today. My REO Grand came in the mail today so I get to play with it a bit before the Kick gets here so I can feel the difference a little better after I put it in.

Already had a couple of 14500's but they have been around the block a few times and I do still use them in a 5v box mod every once in a while.

Thanks for this tip. I really appreciate it.

Picked up a Grand on the Classys to Kick.

I went to a local hobby shop to pick up some copper tape to make a ground point but no luck. They did have some thin flexible brass sheet in shape of a ruler.

It was soft enough to cut with a good pair of scissors.

The ground works well and the brass shim takes up enough slack to allow the kick to sit solid with no movement from button mashing.

Hello ladies and gents. I'm trying to get the ground for the kick using this tape; I definitely want to avoid having to sand off the anodizing even though it's not going to be visible. I've been using a strip of insulated copper speaker wire, and it's working great but I feel the metal tape (if it works) would be more convenient when removing the kick and battery. Once I have the tape installed, how do I go about checking if it's creating a good ground? Can I do it with my little hongda multimeter?

The tape is worthless unless it's grounded against a bare spot on the inside of the mod. The only way you can avoid sanding is to run a wire from the Kick down to the spring.

You only have to sand about a 1/4 square inch.

I think I got it.

It's firing, I just don't know if that means it's fine or if I have to worry about a "not good" ground (if there's such a thing) that can mess up the kick even if it's firing. Maybe I just think too much....

I haven't tried the Crown, but I bought a Kick and had a Kickstand 3-D printed.

It works fine, but honestly, I didn't experience such an improvement in the vaping experience so as to really justify it in my opinion. Especially with an RBA with a decent coil.

I think the battery life you give up by downsizing from an 186500 is a bigger loss than the consistent wattage from the Kick is a gain.

I still use it sometimes for short sessions at home, but on a day to day basis I'm usually happier sticking with the 18650s.

I went through this entire thread after I purchased my Reos & ordered a Kick before the Reos arrived. Never bothered trying the Kick in my Grand & it just sat on the desk. One day I got a tube mod then tried the Kick in that. I like LR & SLR more so I ended up just selling it. Never once was I curious about using it in the Grand again. Maybe one day if want a variable mod again I'll just get me a VV Grand.
