Thanks for the info, where do you order the ceramic cup by the way? I'll definitely check those site everyday :D

Same three websites have them. I just spent a bit of time rebuilding 5 of them. I'm concerned one of my negative wires on one won't be quite long enough … we'll see I guess.

Hey all, I need a little guidance.

The Killer I got had a premade coil in it, which vaped great and had fantastic flavor and medium TH, which is on par with what I've seen in review vids. But it was 2.2ish ohms, which I'd rather closer to 1.5 to use on an unregulated mech mod.

Because I can't leave well enough alone, I tried my hand at making a coil. I used 30Ga Kanthal A-1 and some pure Nickel wire. I used the twisting method to join them as I don't have a TSAF or other welder (Can I use a soldering iron somehow??). I put this coil (1.7Ohm) on 3mm silica doubled up just as shown in all the vids.

I'm getting a very strong TH and not a lot of flavor. Can someone lend some insight into what I may have done wrong? I can say that with the thickness of the silica, it doesn't sit all the way in the cup slots and takes up a huge amount of room in the cup itself.

Thanks!

I would assume you're restricting airflow too much , sort of like if you take a drag on a genny with the air hole not lined right up on the wick.

2x 3mm is too big, if you don't have 2mm handy I would maybe de-braid some 3mm to take the thickness down a bit until you can get some

Thanks. That's along the lines of what I was thinking. The airflow on the original wick/coil was airy and generally nice. This one is much tighter.

I do have some 2.5mm wick, but only a small amount of it. I may give that a shot. Should I maybe stick with 32Ga instead of 30Ga for the res wire? The area is so small that 3 wraps of 32Ga would probably put me around 1.8ish Ohms. I may give that a shot too.

Three websites I'm aware of them carry them, just check them every day. I didn't order one last month then when I wanted one they were gone everywhere. I got lucky with the site in Ireland last week. Their price was a tiny bit high but I didn't real care lol. And yes the ceramic cups are readily available. I have 5 of them right now for my Dripper Pro and ill share my rebuilds of them with the Killer until I get around to ordering more of them.

Shipping from each of those sites is about 10$

Greekvapes has it in stock right now, I just ordered a killer and a d base tank :D

I've only ever used 32 in my Dripper Pro (exact same coil and wick setup) so I can't speak to your 30. I think at the end of the day use whatever wire you want to get whatever resistance you want , just don't restrict the airflow with the wick.

GRATS! My D-Base tank and external tip came from GreekVapes and made it in to Canada this morning, and my killer should be at my place in like two days, super excited.

Gotcha. Thanks again for your thoughts.

Being old enough to remember when the Redwood Forest was still the Redwood Desert I can't figure out this new angled computer stuff. Would someone be kind enough to post a link that will take me to the English version of Greekvapes, (or is it Greekvapors... I can't even figure that out.)

I already have 2 Killers that I use on bottom feeders and have pretty much figured out all the idiosyncrasies but I'd like to browse the website that every one keeps talking about. (When I try to Google it all I end up getting is their forum.)

Thanks very much for your help, I appreciate it.

Thank you Bee... that was very nice of you. Damn quick too.

(Why do I think your graciousness is going to end up costing me money.)

Jack

Yeah, she beat me by seconds. Since you already have the killer than the future costs should be minimal. Just wick and wire and maybe a couple of ceramic cups. Cheap, cheap, cheap. :)

I have enough wire and wick to circle the globe, a couple of times, plus a bunch of ceramic cups so I'm good there. Actually what I wanted to check out was their tanks. I use the Killers on Reo and Red Sky bottom feeders but I have a couple Provari' that are sitting around gathering dust and thought I'd try the tank thing again just for grins and giggles.

I already have several Phiniac tanks but they're all the XL size and for the life of me I can't seem to find a long, straight drip tip like I see being used in all the videos and obviously without that the Killer is useless in an XL tank.

(Google may be other people's friend but for some reason it hates me. I'm starting to think I was married to it at one time.)

This is the straight drip tip that I use Stainless Steel Long Tapered Drip Tip I haven't tried it in a Tall Boy but I use it in the long tube AGR tank.
