Koh Gen Do Wicking Video Tutorial

I have been running a .75 Ω with the same Ko Gen Do wick for 7 days now and it's doing beautifully. I can get about 3, maybe 4 good vapes before I dry it out, but I squonk before that happens. This cotton for me seems to outlast regular ball cotton 3 or 4 to 1. Regular cotton, I was re-wicking about every other day.

Same story here although I squonk after every second hit just to make sure my cotton is always saturated. I've been on the same wick for a week now... Works wonderfully just have to get the making if the wick down and you're in business. Idk where I even left the cvs stuff now

I squonk every 2nd or 3rd hit myself. I have a whole bag of organic cotton balls that hasn't seen any use at all. My one Reo with an RM2 has the KGD in it and going fine on the 8th day. My other Reo with a Cyclone I used 3mm RxW, and I have an IGO-W4 with Eco-wick, an organic hemp/cotton mix. All 3 are doing well. I have another rba with Peaches and Cream. I've been trying out many avenues for wicks as far as durability, flavor, fluid wicking abilities. This KGD and RxW are at the top. Watch the video here in post 1 by super_X_drifter. It's pretty easy, really.

Glad to hear such positive feedback on KGD since I just ordered some from sephora. I let the wife pick out some free samples haha. RxW was a huge disappointment for me, but I use 100% VG juice so that's probably why. Very excited for this stuff

Best stuff I've ever used. Glad othe people on here use it! I was just invited to the reo side of the forum because... I JUST ORDERED MINE LIKE 12 HOURS AGOO. so pumped as you can see, haha.

I taste zero difference between the KGD stuff and the cotton balls I stole out of the first-aid kit at work. What I do notice is much easier to get a consistent wick and simplifies re-wicking. Buying it from Sephora:$12, not having to get caught stealing out of a dusty first-aid kit?: priceless.

The consistency IS the taste difference. No bland dry taste / hits. I did not like cotton before kgd

Update on my wick: 13th day on the same wick!! That's unheard of. Of course, I use the same, non-gunky liquid, but 13 days for cotton??? At this rate, my grandkids are going to inherit my KGD supply! And the taste is still as good as day 1. KGD is now at the top of my list for wicking. It's not finicky like RxW, wicks very well and stays wet longer. As long as you are not using a coil-gunking liquid, like Boba's, it should cut way down on having to re-wick. In fact, I might do it anyway...getting bored with nothing to tinker with! Not really. I do want to let this one rm2 stay just to see how long it can possibly go.

I couldn't find any locally so picked up some Shiseido. I have enough cotton pads to last a lifetime now. Wicks like crazy and no cotton taste. The secret is to wick exactly like the Super X video shows. I was leaving the legs too long and hits were tight. Once I shortened up it made all the difference. I changed out 3 wicks last night and honestly really didn't need changing. Cotton was just as clean as when I put them in.

I couldn't find any locally when I was looking for it either, and the Sephora website was out also, but I found it at the same price at Barney's of New York for the same price and free shipping. I was surprised at how much is in there, so I know I'll never, EVER have to buy any more again!

Last night I swapped out the wick on my Kayfun and GP Heron...omg, never going back to regular cotton. The sheets make it so much easier to work with, i just pull one sheet in half as stated previously in the thread then cut a strip about double the size of the ID of my coil. So for my 2mm ID coil i cut a strip 4-5mm wide. Perfect on the first try! I went ahead and cut up the remaining half sheet in 4-5mm strips and now i have a bunch of wicks ready to go. The biggest problem i had with regular cotton was getting a consistent density and diameter every time. That is no longer an issue with these pads.

Sounds good . You may try going slightly thinner. Double the ID of your coil sounds kinda on the thick side I've had the best results with a piece the width of or just a hair wider.

Here's a simple trick I learned from someone on here (for the life of me I can't remember who) :

Twist the point and thread the cotton into the coil. Now take your hand off your mod as you pull the cotton into the coil. If your mod moves it's too thick. But also remember that you don't want it so thin that it just flops around in there.

Another rule of thumb with KGD - if you taste cotton even on the first hit it's too thick.

I just pulled the top off of my rm2 after 14 days of use from the same wick. Unbelievable, but the KGD looks better than the coil! I hate to do it, but I guess I am at that point I have to pull the wick, burn off the coil and re-wick. I figure with the size of wick, I can get about 50 wicks off of a half pad. X2, that's 100+ wicks. If I can get 2 week off of each one, my package of 80 pads will last me 160 years if I only use it on one rba! If I wick my 3 rm2s, Cyclone, and my IGO double coil, I'll have enough for 26 years! Gotta love this stuff

I re-wicked my 2mm ID coil with a 2mm cut strip of KGD (previously had a strip about 4-5mm). It worked okay but the wicking was slightly lacking. I then tried a 3mm strip and this seems to work best for me. It slides through with just enough friction and wicks very well for me. I then tested this on a 1.5mm ID coil using a 2.5mm strip and that also is working very well for me. So for me, the perfect wick diameter seems to be about 1mm more than the size of the coil ID. Thanks to everyone for their tips and tricks.

Hey super. Thanks for the video. I am however a bit confused. In the video I see you twisting the entire wick instead of twisting just the tips of the wick. But here you write that you should only twist the tips. I believe you said the same in another koh gen do thread. So what's the verdict? Only twist the tips and leave the rest if the wick flat? Or twist everything gently so that the wick is not flat but rather cylindrical? Thanks!

Yes. 28 ga would prolly help. Another thing, with KGD cotton, don't roll it up, just twist the tip. It should thread thru with very little resistance. If it binds at all remove some.

If you taste cotton, even on the first hot it's too thick. My wick requires only about 10 seconds time to saturate from the first squonk then it's game on. No cotton taste.
