Hey Crumpet, what are you vaping hardware and liquid wise. I wonder if they have any idea of the actual variety that's out there. They really have to get people that are more mainstream. Yeah, my chuck uses a 510 atomizer, but I drip my flavors through a drip tip. I think I'd get rejected on first pass.

No wonder research is so expensive, They may have to order from all over the country to satisfy all their test subjects preferences. One thing is certain, everyone will get an education.

I'm using a kr808-d1 from smoke tip. I use a variety of cartomizers, most recently the empty ones from myvaporstore.com. My favorite liquids are from FreedomSmokeUSA. If I'm selected I intend to educate them!

Well add me. I called yesterday and talked to PandaWinks. she was very nice and in fact told me she vapes. They are ordering my strength and flavor of preferred cartomizers. I am scheduled for Saturday morning... and considering the compensation, I can take the wife out for dinner later in the weekend.

I was told to bring my PV of choice. Let them know I used a 510. Was told they will provide cartomizers that are prefilled from my preferred vender. considering I am not a real cartomizer fan and typically drip or get empty cartos to fill myself, I didn't have a preferred vendor, plus I am not gonna like it. But she told me what she was gonna order and who from and considering I hear good things about the vender she selected, I will give it a shot. They require commercial US provided cartomizers as part of the study. I guess to keep the variables down.
Course my P18 will be with me and I will have my LR510 and modded E2 carto for as soon as I am done sucking on those wimpy cartos. Wait till they see my E2 carto mod and the amount of vapor I get from it (after my time in the study).

I got back a couple hours ago from my time at VCU. It went well IMO and the staff were all very friendly and professional. Dr Eissenberg even stopped by to say hello and thank me for my participation in the study. This study has come to fruition because of input he received here at ECF after his last study, based upon conversation with the staff. I do know they want experienced users of e-cigs this time and apparently have a set of requirements that have made it more difficult to get enough volunteers.

So, I took my Precise-18 and Precise-10 but only used the 18 and used the 510 cartomizers that they had gotten for me, which was for my 510 connection and in a flavor and strength I was accustomed to. I'll be honest, I was jonesin bad when I got there because I had to refrain from using my PV for 12 hours prior... but other then that it was fun doing their study, plus I was compensated enough to justify participating.

So if you are in the central Va area and interested at all, I would give them a call. I don't know what exactly meets their requirements, but I have been vaping exclusively for over 10 months now and am in good health.

Crumpet I am guessing that it is because many doctors have prescribed Welbutrin to patients who are trying to quit smoking(provided they have no history of seizures) because they have found that Welbutrin can help, in some cases, to ease cravings for nicotine. The fact that you are taking Welbutrin would throw off their study findings - again, just my opinion.

Well, I called and learned that b/c I take Wellbutrin XL I didn't meet the criteria. Oh well....not sure why that factors into anything but I guess they have their reasons.

Well at least there was a reason they didn't accept you. I was curious about that although it doesn't seem to make any sense as far as what they're trying to accomplish. I thought the study was to determine how much nic was absorbed into the system in veteran vapers, not it's ability to reduce cravings. If you're going to exclude Wellbutrin users, you may as well exclude any anti-depressant from my perspective.

I just hope they get enough participants because I'm curious about the results.

Wellbutrin and Zyban are the same thing, Bupropion, with Zyban being marketed as a smoking cessation drug. I believe the way these work is by inhibiting nicotines ability to bind to the appropriate receptors so you get no benefit from nicotine intake. This may have an affect on the blood tests and I'm sure it would affect your pulse rate as well as your pulse wouldn't raise due to nicotine intake since you're not benefiting from it. I imagine this may interfere with some of the things they're trying to test for in the study.

I just discovered that you, teissenb, are Dr. Eissenberg. Let me extend my direct thanks for your work as well as your participation in this forum. I am very interested in this study, and regret that I could not participate since I am too old. BTW, your phone folks were both informative and pleasant.

Bump for the good doc. I'm very interested in hearing the findings!
