Ladies, Help Warm Me Up

The weather outside has gone from two days of bone-chilling rain and drizzle to sleet, and now to snow. Definitely a four letter word in my book. The whole world (my world) is gray, brown, and white - and COLD. Chilled to the bone, wearing fingerless gloves in the house, coffee cup worshiping COLD.

One thing I found this morning is that unloading the dryer after it's just finished and pulling on my favorite, snuggly, oversized sweater was WONDERFUL! All I could think of was that adorable cat in the commercial rolling around luxuriating in a basket of laundry.

Maybe you all can warm me up by telling me your favorite ways to warm up other than just amping up the thermostat. I'm on a fixed income now and warmth can be very expensive.

I'm wearing a sweater-robe-covered in blanket with a heating pad at my feet & I live in So Calif. now. Came from cold climates 21 years ago & don't know how I ever did it-lol

even when i have the thermostat set to 71, i'm often battling the chills (and here, i thought those nearing menopause were supposed to *sweat!*).

however, i've noticed that nicotine directly affects the severity of my chills. i've lowered my nic level steadily over the months, and vape 4mgs almost exclusively (but i vape 24/7, lol)...whenever i get bone-chilling cold, i vape 2mgs -- yep, just 2mgs is enough to get my fix, without causing my chills to be worse (and no, it's not just my mind playing tricks on me with thinking i need the tiny bit of nicotine -- as i've tried vaping zero exclusively, and i got super bad cravings).

i keep the thermostat set stoopid low (58-61) ...so i generally layer myself with sweaters, microfleeces, and blankets, topped off by largish dogs. Hot tea helps a bit, as does exercise- but you have to get off the couch for both of those things. (the occasional hot flash comes in handy too )

Even my hot flashes have left me. But ... get off the couch?!?! SRSLY? That's where all of the blankies are. Warm tea sounds realllly nice. Off to make a cup. BRB

that's why i stay on the couch layered in blankets and dogs...as soon as i figure out how to teach them to brew me a cup of tea I'll be in heaven. send one for tea, and stay warm under the other two

I'm in Indiana too. The bone chilling cold you are experiencing must be headed my way! All sorts of weather alerts about the cold, rain, snow coming ... My dogs don't even wanna go outside cause the rain is so cold.

I say bake cookies or bread and stand in front of the oven!!

DH keeps our thermostat set at 66 in the winter unless it's really cold out. I have some fuzzy house shoe boots I wear with thick fuzzy socks, a flannel shirt and a jacket if I get to cold. Hot chocolate helps me alot....don't forget to add some Kahlua to it My hot flashes come in the form of night sweats.....just makes me miserable!!!

Hot flashes really are miserable. And they never come when you actually need them. Take heart Fudgey. It's kinda like an eyelash in your eye. Feels really nice when it's finally GONE!

Dern it - No Kahlua on hand. Would Rumple Minze (100 proof peppermint schnapps) do the trick, ya think?

Hot Chocolate, Coffee, Apple/Spiced Cider (maybe with a splash of rum! ); an electric blanket all snuggled in the couch watching Christmas movies!

Trade with ya! Hate the cold, the snow! I hope we get some this year Our biggest problem is black ice.

A nice pot of your favorite soup simmering on the stove.

A hot bubble bath cures all kinds of ailments. That electric blanket on the sofa and a movie sounds good, too.

Layers, soup, socks a watch cap, cocoa, coffee or hot tea. Blankets, dogs and pillows. A fire..even fake is nice and above all my secret is a heating pad for my feet. Warm feet, warm heart!!!!!

Me too, if my feet are cold then I'm freezing! My secret is super long thick socks I have many many pair of knee-thigh high socks and tights.
