Have you researched / read the list of the side effects of amitriptyline?
It is a quite extensive list.
Have you researched or had a medical professional explained how amitriptyline interacts with other drugs/medications?
The list of drug interactions is also very extensive.

I think the only logical & safe thing to do at this point is to get a medical professional to carefully go over everything you're prescribed to determine if you are experiencing an unsatisfactory side effect or a dangerous drug interaction.

It appears nicotine and amitriptyline may not play well together.
concerning nicotine patches;
"Stopping smoking can change the way the liver removes certain drugs from the body (e.g., acetaminophen, caffeine, insulin, oxazepam, pentazocine, propoxyphene, propranolol, theophylline, tricyclic antidepressants such as amitriptyline/imipramine, "water pills"/diuretics such as furosemide). Tell all your doctors and pharmacists that you are quitting smoking."

Thanks for the info I am going to schedule a medication review as well.
