Hey, I just saw a wedding between a girl in the States and a fella in Afghanistan over the phone by a judge and I guess it's perfectly legal. This gave me an idea!

You know the new gay marriage law in New York? You've seen it on the news, I am sure. They said there is NO residency requirement for these marriages, you just need to go to NY State and get 'er done. So how's this for an idea:

Given:
1. The US accepts "electronic Signatures
2. NY has no residency requirements
3. People can now video-chat over the Internet

There is, then, no reason some enterprising NY Justice of the Peace couldn't set up an on-line wedding chapel and perform perfectly legal weddings for couples, gay or not, from anywhere in the US. Most other states will recognize NY marriages, so Bob's your uncle!

It really depends on the state you live in not every state excepts internet marriges or gay marriages so I think you idea might not be such a good one untill all that happens.

Wow this thread died off from last night... How's everyone doing today?

Evidently everyone was so intent on the 1000 post limit that now it's been passed people are wandering aimlessly trying to decide what the next goal for the thread should be.

I say "Largest Thread on ECF!"

:D
