Hey Girl! I use just the tank/carto setup, tho I just got an atty for my kr8's for testing my DIY juices. Obviously, it's not gonna taste the same as a tank or clearo, but it seems to be the quick test of choice amongst the DIYers. Let's you know if you're on the right track, getting close, etc., before you try it in a tank or clearo. And so far, after maaaaany samples, I only like RY4 and Highbrow's version of American 55, so only 2 flavors to deal with. We got our new clearo's in for our kr8's and they give AWEsome vapor and flavor -- almost like my Nova!! So they make great testers, and these new ones are a screw-off, rubber stopper top, so VERY easy to fill and clean! I use them for sampling and backup and DH is in LOVE with them!! He even had me order him a new fat batt to use them with!

my friend said something about it being bad to use 1.5 duals on anything over 4.73 because it will explode or something. He also has a lava tube and sometimes he seems to know his stuff but other times not? is this the truth?

and i read a while back that there is some sort of way to see the battery life. could you explain this to me and tell me what numbers show when its fully charged and when it's best to recharge and when it's dead?

thanks

Errol! Thank you so seriously much! Would absolutely love to try your modded bits! You totally just made my day, man! I'll pm ya. ;) And another kind soul here (thank you thank you, Chris!!!) offered to hook me up with one of those phoenix I've been slathering to try, so I'll be seriously set, and avoid the dreaded '4 cartos I dislike left in box' scenario. lol Thanks HUGE, guys!

Answered your PM with a bunch of questions. :)

FWIW Starfire VV has V2 Lavatube clones advertised at 3.9amp. I ask if the amps had been verified other than the factory claim. He is sending me one to test that should reach me Friday that I will buy if it is in the 3.5 to 4amp range. These aren't as pretty as the ones at CCV but the price is right at $50 if they are as advertised.

There aren't many PVs that will power 1.5ohm DC cartos at 4.73v, certainly not the LT V1. I run my 1.5ohm at 5v all the time, sometimes over as they get older. I wouldn't pay much attention to a lot of the danger rumors going around. Best thing to do is ask, just as you have done. :)

Thank you so much. And i figured out the thing to the battery you have to press the power button 7 times but what is dead and what is fully charged? I see that you should replace at 3.4-5

My batteries seem to poop out around 3.2, I have a friend with the same unit but different batteries and his die around 2.8, I've also heard some saying around 3.4 so anywhere in that range I'd imagine is norm.

Got 2 Apollo SS in the classifieds a couple weeks ago and gave my Joker AV to my son in Nv. The SS is the V1, but honestly using 2ohm cartos, Vivi Nova 2.5 with the 2.8ohm head the V1 SS is all I really need. Great Vapor, TH and Flavor. Vaping above 4.2V...my experience is that, it's not necessary for me...YMMV.

With the 1.7ohm Resurrectors from CCV I'm usually at about 3.9 to 4.1V. Not a real fan of cartos, but they are a lot less fiddly than Clearos...however, Vivi Novas have gone a long ways toward making clearos more user friendly.

I have always used pre-punched with the flanged bottoms, but may give the PIY a go...just a little apprehensive about not having the bottom flange to stop the DCT from allowing the carto to slip all the way thru when not on the Mod. I guess a little caution would avoid any issue there.

The best thing is...whatever works best for you...it may involve a little trial and error...you may run across some whose experiences parallel yours, in which case, you may eliminate SOME of the error.

Lots of good info here and I'll be checking in here again from time to time...Hope everyone is having a wonderful 4th, God bless America...

Well, I'm extremely upset. After pondering why it was taking so freaking long for my carto to fire with the tank, I decided to pull it apart. This is what I found

I guess it's because I was new to using it, and I didn't drip anything into my carto before I used it. Orachel, where is a good place to get some cartos. I prefer a pack of 5 or something, also, what's a good site for really tasty juice. I'm about to run low on that too.

Oh, and my other carto is the same way, upsetting..

That could have done it. I always fill my carto up before I put it in the tank. I recently came across a new way to "prime" the carto for the tank and it has worked well the few times I've done it....

Put a new carto in the tank. Fill the tank up with juice. Then take one of those plugs that are in the condom on a carto and plug the battery end of the carto up while it is in the tank. Put a drip tip on the other end and take a deep draw on it several times. You can literally see the juice sucking into the carto. Refill the tank and you're good to go. Just be careful not to take in too much as you could flood it. If you do then blow out the center of the carto.

oOstatic.. sent you pm with lowdown on juices, cartos, tank cartos etc. Yell out if you have any questions. Yeah, that sucking method will work for sure, but I just stick mine in the tank, then drip on filler and wait a while. The sucking method will reduce the wait time, for sure, though.

Fill tank, put several drops in carto, LET SIT (upright) for a couple of minutes, quick dry puff (or two), fire, enjoy. The real trick is not to put too much into the carto or you will flood it, but if you just put in 10 or so drops just to prime it then patiently let it sit for a couple of minutes take a quick dry puff or two then it will work well.

I've discovered patience is really the key when working with a new carto of any type, you have to let it absorb the juice throughout the filler (or work into the wick), no matter what kind of carto I use, or method of filling, I always let them sit for a couple of minutes before initial firing.
