Do these habits ever die? Tips ?

Yes, they do... The first couple months are the worst -- with me it was only 3 days -- but they do go away as long as you want them to... Just keep on keeping on and you'll soon find the thought of having an analog doesn't even cross your mind!

I started vaping purely to save money from smoking, but I never planned to quit entirely. Frankly, I didnt want too.

But, it became quickly apparent that vaping with real equipment(not the Blus I originally tried, but an APV and Clearomizers, Carto Tanks and RDAs), was incredibly satisfying, and I could probably fully quit with a bit of will power added to the mix.

So right now, subtract everything but the will power.

Cuz, Ill still have a smoke when I want one.

however, to put it in numbers for you..

Before vaping, I was a 2 pack a day smoker, Marlboro Menthol.

So in a month, I should have a polished off 60 or more packs of cigarettes(Frack, when you say it like that...)

In the month Ive been vaping, Ive smoked a total of 3 packs. And 80% of those cigs, I tossed before it got halfway, because I realized my craving wasnt actually for the cigarette, but for going outside, standing in my usual spot on the porch, leaning on the usual spot on the railing, and having my smoke while staring at crap in the nieghborhood.

So as it stands, im still OK with having a cigarette if I want one. but, I dont eally want one all that much.

LEt yourself have a cig once and while, see what it does for you.

    I smoked for 8 years

My nicotine level is at a 6 and i smoke on a k100 with a igo w rba

I had an ego but my gf is using that lol..

What im hoping is to get another mod and possibly a few ego batteries..

Maby up my nic levil to a 12? Or an 8(ive seen some places sell 8)

But just habits... its just rough

Btw yes DRI is the stuff : p

6???? really? what made you think that would do the trick?

i actually had no intention of quitting smokes right away, but i figures the least i should do was start at a high nic level. i started at 24mg. 4 analogs later, i'm done. i still have open packs and packs in the closet. the last think i need though, is more nic. i get enough...

Looks like everyone is giving you fantastic advice :)

I can only speak for myself, as everyone is different.. but..

I smoked 30+ analogs a day for years, so I hear you.

When I quit, I actually kept my PV in an ashtray! Yes, that's right.. a real analog ashtray (a clean one) because I wasn't ready to break the "psychological" hold smoking had on me.

The "temptation" to smoke stayed with me about 4 months.

I'll admit, sometimes, when I'm watching a movie and a character smokes, I think "Oooo, I could do that." But, I shake it off. When I'm around people who smoke, I never think "Oooo...." anymore, because unlike a movie, I can *smell* the smoke. And, it's not appealing any longer.

I'm now 17 months in and all I can say is it's so worth it.

Good luck to you, you can do it!

Do these habits ever die? Tips ?

    Yes. Yes they do.

My "tip" is give yourself time. However long you smoked, think about how many times you did something. Like you mention reaching behind your ear. You must have kept a cig there pretty much all the time right? Think about how many times you must have made that movement. How many times a day. Day after day after day after...

One thing I did was look for ways to "substitute" habits. I started with Blah... I mean Blu, which is more "cig like" right? So, one day, I had this idea to get a shallow bowl like thing and put it next to the computer where the ashtray sat. Since I was so used to reaching for the cig at that spot, I put the little Blu there.

Hilariously enough, I caught myself "flicking ashes" off the Blu. :)

Gradually, though, over time, my habits did shift. They're very different now. I did the same kinds of things though. Pat my pockets to be sure I had my lighter before I walked out the door. Start to go to check the ashtrays to make sure I didn't forget and leave a cig burning. Stop dead and think, "I don't have ashtrays anymore". First few times that happened? I had to go look. It was habit for years and years. Check the ashtrays. You might have forgot you left one burning. Can't leave the house before you're sure.

Still catch myself trying to do that one. This week even. Was headed to the store. Stopped at the front door, feeling I was forgetting something. Took two steps toward the living room and realized I was trying to go check the ashtray!

    Laughed at myself and left...

You might want to send away for the free NJOY King or pick one up at a convenience store. It comes as close to mimicking the smoking experience as any other vaping gear. They come in very strong nic strengths so they have great throat hit. They are also of similar size and weight as a cigarettes and even have a soft "filter".

Unfortunately, contrary to NJOY's claims, they are only equivalent to about 8–10 cigarettes and are obscenely expensive so aren't practical to use all the time. However, they have been very helpful for some to help deal with cigarette cravings.

I needed the psychological comfort of the familiar form factor of a cig-alike to help me along the way. I clutched my cig-alike as if it were a life raft even for a few weeks after I got my Twists that provided me with a much better vape. We form all sorts of psychological associations with smoking so it's not surprising that it takes a bit of time and some trial and error to sort out how to switch those associations over to vaping.

That's not a bad idea. An NJoy is almost a "drop in" replacement for a cig (they even feel like one, a bit "paper" and "squishy") and are high nic. I'm actually playing around with a couple now as a "supplement". I may have dropped my nic level too fast. So I'm using an NJoy (lightly) in the mornings on top of my regular vape. An extra "boost". If that seems to work better, I'll get some higher nic juice (bulk stuff, NJoy being too pricey for regular use) and up my morning nic levels.

I will give NJoy this, of the disposables I've tried, they've come the closest to replicating the whole "smoking experience"...

You know, you don't have to use "a" nic level. I have more than one myself. I "coast" at about 6 to 9 but mornings are around 18 to 24. Also, same for after meals. I'm playing around with the 36 level at the moment. I may have brought my nic level down too quickly so I may be going back up some.

But you can vary it. You can use higher for those times you'd want a smoke the most. Like that "first cig of the day". That's a big one for a lot of us. I've been having some oddball moments lately so I'm raising my morning nic level gradually. Still planning on around 9 to "coast along" most times but am starting the day around 24 now.

You have to do a little experimenting to find what works for you.

One warning, though, don't go up on your nic too fast. I kept myself awake that way once. Vaping at too high a nic level in the evenings. Could not get to sleep until well after 3 in the morning. And I just ain't 20 anymore. For that matter, I just ain't 30 or even 40 anymore. :)

Soo today ive been at home smoking my vape..waiting for a guy to call me back from an interveiw i had yesterday.

And suddenly i walk outside and i found myself checking behind my ears for a cigarrete.

Ive been going strong and positive about quitting for myself and my family. But its starting to hit me.
Even the nasty smell they carry now still somhow smells pleasing..tho it smells like crud.

Fast forward to a half hour ago walking back from the store.... i foubd myself about to ask a kid i saw smoking for a cigarette....
I still carry a zippo in my pocket... and a bic in my back pack.... and since i quit smoking i find myself checking behind my ears for a smoke

And the vaping just dosent feel right now like its doing it...

I know i can get overthis..my coughing has subsided(until i do full lung hits and go chasing clouds)
But even still my question for all you ex smokers and current vape users

Do these habits ever die? Tips ?

I feel ya man. I have noticed it subsiding, but I still get the cravings. Ya know what is my new favorite way to banish cravings for at least a few hours? Get a really heavy TH off some 24 MG juice! No joke, for some reason the TH makes me forget about cigarettes altogether! It's my latest obsession. If anyone has any recommendations for juice with good TH then let me know! It's what is keeping me off the cancer sticks :vapor: Also remember that we all slip up so it's not the end of the world if you do. But you know that if you smoke them again you wont really fell "good". It's all in your head! Stay strong! You will adjust in time.

    Yes, it does go away.

I was a committed 40+ year smoker, up to 2+ packs a day at the end. Never thought I could quit, tried many many many times. For quite a few months after beginning to vape, I'd bum a cigarette or two whenever I saw a friend who still smoked.

Fast forward a year or two, my husband picked up smoking again, and I thought I was done for. Much to my surprise, I can now watch him smoke and not even want to bum one off him.

    Success!
